Martin O'Neill's Ireland side have got off to an unbeaten start in the World Cup Qualifiers (DWW) and currently find themselves tied with first place on points but second on goal difference. A draw to leaders Serbia in the opening match, followed by back-to-back wins in their favourable fixtures against Georgia and Moldova. Austria find themselves fourth after as many matches but have failed to claim three points in tough fixtures against Wales and Serbia. Back-to-back home matches against Ireland and Moldova will present them with a good chance to climb the Group D table, but getting back to winning ways against Ireland will be paramount to their success. The two sides met twice in the 2012/13 World Cup Qualification stages where Austria drew 2-2 away from home before securing a narrow 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture. David Alaba found the net in both fixtures and is in the predicted lineup ahead of their meeting on Saturday.
Match Prediction:
Neither team has failed to score in the World Cup Qualification stages so far and the only clean sheet came in Ireland's 1-0 home victory over Moldova. Therefore, there's a good chance that both teams will find the net in this fixture, though Austria are the narrow favourites to take three points.Although our money will be on Austria to win and both teams to score markets, there's certainly a case for an Ireland upset.
