GW6: Scouting

Share post on:

With FPL now in full swing and managers falling to pieces over their starts it is probably time to start looking at some players who may not be hitting high points totals but could start firing soon

Friday: Moussa Djenepo

A nasty turn in fixtures appear for Southampton from GW7, but one player who has some potential, at a good price in FPL, needs some scouting on Friday night.

Moussa Djenepo fired home 11 goals and 6 assists including 3 in the Europa League at 20 years old last season. This performance across 39 games managed to get him a 14m pound move to Southampton and a potential starring role in Ralph Hasenhuttl's high pressing Southampton side. Featuring only once in the league from the start the Malian international has been phased in, but has still managed to contribute to 2 goals. 123 minutes has seen him contribute to 50% of all the goals Southampton have scored while he has been on the pitch and he has had 9 penalty area touches already.

Bournemouth, notoriously, do not have a good defensive record; so, if Redmond is still expected to miss out, Friday night could serve as some good scouting material for a cheap asset with bags of potential.

Saturday: James Maddison

Leicester

Opposite to Southampton, Leicester have a fantastic turn in fixtures coming up. After the game at The King Power against Spurs Leicester face a run of;

Newcastle (Home)
Liverpool (Away)
Burnley (Home)
Southampton (Away)
Crystal Palace (Away)
Arsenal (Home)
Brighton (Away)
Everton (Home)
Aston Villa (Away)
Norwich (Home)

There are some big teams in this list but there is enough there to look for an asset or two from their team. While Soyuncu makes an excellent cheap rotation defensive option, and Vardy makes the obvious goal scoring but high priced striking option, the midfield spot is reserved for Maddison.

Perez, whose price has free-falled along with his place in the team, has lost our interest and Tielemans doesn't quite provide the same attacking vigour that Maddison does. So lets dive into the stats;

Maddison has had 4 Big Chances, the same as Vardy and Mane. His Chances Created stat is down though, with 9, similar to Cantwell and Sterling but a way off the 21 created by England teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold. Crosses however shows where he starts to really excel, with 42, 3rd highest in the league added to this is his 31 Corners, highest in the league. Finally his 20 touches in the penalty area see him beat Kevin De Bruyne's 19.

Sunday: Callum Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea

He should be returning over the next 7-10 days, and Mount's injury in the Champions League should only accelerate this. Whether he plays on the wing or behind the striker in Lampard's experimental 3-4-2-1 formation we are yet to see. At such a cheap price we are excited to see what he can do and hope he can get some minutes this weekend so we can start to assess. If so, with Chelsea's fixture list of;

Brighton (Home)
Southampton (Away)
Newcastle (Home)
Burnley (Away)
Watford (Away)
Crystal Palace (Home)

Could see us double or even triple up on Chelsea assets with both Mount (6.5m) and Hudson Odoi (5.9m) at good price points and Abraham in red hot form up top.
