Fantasy Championship Five Tips For Gameweek 35

Share post on:
Welcome back to another Fantasy Championship five tips for Gameweek 35 article. Joe Dean returns with his top five tips ahead of Gameweek 35 in the English Championship. At the risk of repeating myself, it was another dramatic week in the SkyBet Championship. Shock results, high scoring games and some huge implications for the table. Blackburn pulled clear of the bottom 3 with vital wins against the MK Dons and Middlesbrough. Rotherham closed the gap to safety with a win over Brentford and Burnley came from behind to beat Lancashire rivals Bolton and head the table going into this weekend. Charlton's Yaya Sanogo had a bitter-sweet day as he scored a hat-trick in his side's late defeat to Reading. On Monday night, Leeds were trailing 4-0 inside 38 minutes against promotion chasing Brighton. It's approaching crunch time for sides at the top and bottom of the Championship so the drama is sure to continue this weekend.

Tip 1 Leeds to bounce back from Brighton embarrassment.

For a club the size of Leeds, to be on the end of a thrashing from Brighton was nothing short of humiliating. The fans and the manager will be demanding a resounding response when they host second bottom Bolton on Saturday. The visitors will also be hurting after they lost from a winning position against fierce rivals Burnley. Neil Lennon will have to use all of his motivational skills to lift the morale within the Bolton camp as they desperately clamber for the points they need to survive. I can see however, a Leeds side reeling from Monday hitting back against the Trotters. Steve Evans will be hoping his side will be much tighter at the back, with Liam Cooper (MO:7.5m, FB:4.5m) hoping to recover from his own personal horror show. Alex Mowatt (MO:6.4m, FB:10.5m) and Mustapha Carayol (MO:4.1m, FB:7.0m) are likely to be the main sources of creativity at Elland Road.

Tip 2 Ipswich to keep up their playoff push.

As he did last year, Mick McCarthy has masterminded an unlikely playoff push on a shoestring budget at Ipswich. Last Saturday's win at Huddersfield halted an alarming 3 game losing run and brought them right back into the playoff picture. In contrast, Nottingham Forest have lost 3 straight games following going 13 games unbeaten. Dougie Freedman's side's season appears to be fizzling out and I'm predicting a fruitless trip to Suffolk for them. Ipswich's success over the last couple of years has largely been down to being so well organised so Tommy Smith (MO:6.7m, FB:6.5m) and Christoph Berra (MO:7.6m, FB:7.0m) would be safe inclusions. Daryl Murphy (MO:6.2m, FB:12.5m) is yet to really replicate his sublime form from last season but he'll be confident to find the net against an out of form Forest.

Tip 3 Big win for Wednesday.

With Cardiff breathing down their necks, it's important that Sheffield Wednesday win on Saturday to at least maintain the 3 point gap between themselves and the Bluebirds. They earned a creditable point away at Hull last Friday but in a home game against a lowly Rotherham side, only a win will be acceptable. Neil Warnock did earn his first win as Millers boss against Brentford last time out but Wednesday should have far too much for Rotherham. With Fernando Foriestieri out suspended again, there will be more pressure on Gary Hooper (MO:6.6m, FB:8.5m) to find the net for the Owls. Aiden McGeady (MO:5.0m, FB:8.0m) will be hoping to really kickstart his Wednesday career whilst Kieran Westwood (MO:7.1m, FB:6.0m) will be hoping to add to his growing reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the division.

Tip 4 Fulham's slide to continue.

On paper, Fulham should be near the top of the table, fighting for promotion. But in reality the Cottagers are on an alarming slide that could potentially see them get dragged into a relegation scrap. They go to the Madjeski next to play an in-form Reading side whose FA Cup run has re-vitalised their season. On the back of 2 straight wins, including a dramatic late winner at the Valley last time out, the Royals will be confident of securing another 3 points. Yann Kermogant (MO:7.2m, FB:7.0m) was instrumental in that win against Charlton and would be a decent bet against a leaky Fulham side. Hal Robson-Kanu (MO:7.1m, FB:7.5m) is an experienced forward in the Championship and will be desperate to impress in the rest of the season to force his way into Wales' starting XI for Euro 2016.

Tip 5 Charlton's woes to continue.

When Yaya Sanogo completed his hat-trick in the 84th minute against Reading, Jose Riga and his Charlton side must've thought they had rescued a vital point in their fight against relegation. However, an injury time winner for Reading will have been a huge kick in the teeth for Charlton, a side who had very little confidence to lose in the first place. They've struggled home and away this term and they'll hardly be looking forward to a trip to Griffin Park. Brentford have had a really tough run of fixtures so they will be relishing a home game against the bottom side. Alan Judge (MO:15.1m, FB:8.0m) has been the Bees' player of the season so far and Jon Swift (MO:8.6m, FB:6.5m) has been impressive in recent weeks. Harlee Dean (MO:6.2m, FB:5.0m) has been a mainstay of this Brentford side and will be hoping to keep Sanogo quiet this week.
