Under the Radar Stealth Picks for FPL Gameweek 4

Share post on:
A mixed bag from the last Under the radar picks; John Stones didn't play but I still believe him to be an awesome potential asset, especially with Man City's fixtures However you would definitely need cover on your bench. Bellerin was a tiny touch away from two assists, but bagged one to his name and now has a great run of fixtures including Cardiff and Newcastle in the next two. Dele Alli squandered many chances against United but was a threat in the games many would've dropped him for. Finally Walcott scored and became the vogue pick in the transfers in, after Richarlison's red card and subsequent two game PL suspension. Walcott has been transferred in by almost 500,000 managers so all in all a good result from last weeks under the radar picks. With most attacking assets firmly on the radar of FPL managers, this week again focuses upon the defensive assets. With injuries, rotation and suspension mounting alongside a tidal shift in fixtures (big teams having good runs) hopefully we can emulate last week's results.

Fosu-Mensah 4.5m

Fulham have goals in them, and Fosu-Mensah is flying under the radar bombing up and down the right hand side of the pitch. With many goals coming from cut backs or aerial balls into Mitrovic; wide players suddenly are quite an attractive proposition. Fosu-Mensah at 4.5m could provide this, while Joe Bryan has better delivery on the left hand side, he is 0.5m more expensive and often caught up with Fulham's left sided attacker (Sessegnon or Vietto), with the former especially also looking to dominate the wide spaces. Fosu-Mensah has overlapped a bit more freely with Schurlle on the right who has tended to cut in as has Sessegnon when he has been fielded to the right of Mitrovic, with the latter favouring his left foot on the inside.

Luke Shaw 5.1m

Man United have a crisis on their hands, but with a run of 5 fixtures against Burnley, Watford, Wolves, West Ham and Newcastle if United can find the grit they need to turn things around these fixtures provide an excellent opportunity to build up a defensive run (however impossible this can be with the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in defence). Luke Shaw is one of the only players currently playing for the badge and one of the only ones singled out both physically and verbally by the manager for playing well and with heart and desire. This is often a trait rewarded handsomely by Mourinho and could see the English left back set for a good run in the side ahead of these upcoming fixtures. United have been trialling a 5 at the back system which see's Luke Shaw also having a lot of freedom moving forward. This formation is better for United as it covers up their distinct lack of a right hand attacking side, however with the central defensive three showing mistake after mistake it could be overlooked in favour of a more conventional 4-3-3.

Sokratis - 5.4m

A price drop see's Sokratis coming in at a low investment price. With no games against top 6 sides until November with standout games such as Cardiff, Newcastle, Watford, Fulham and Crystal Palace Arsenal tick the ‘favourable fixtures' box. However, their defence has looked leaky in their opening games (although 2 of these where against Chelsea and Arsenal), Emery hasn't yet got a disciplined backline operating but with the next two games against teams that cumulatively have contributed 2 goals over 6 games, Arsenal defenders could pick up some momentum over the international break and Sokratis, coming in cheaper than Bellerin and Monreal, could find his value boosted. Word of warning, the Greek international has only picked up 22 goal contributions in over 300 matches so a goal contribution would be a rare occurrence for the Defender.

Holgate - 4.5m

With Keane out for at least a month, Zouma only just returning, Jagielka returning from suspension but showing his age and lack of mobility, and Mina still 3-4 weeks away from first team football Mason Holgate offers an extremely cheap route into Everton's backline where they face 2 consecutive home fixtures against Huddersfield and West Ham. The defender hasn't contributed much in terms of notable statistic contributions but his low price, good fixtures and mid range xG against stats make this young 4.5m option a good short term punt.
