Double Gameweek 32 - Differentials
So here we are. The business end of the season.
We have 56 Premier League matches in 30 days, followed by another Double Gameweek. With Chips, Doubles and Blanks coming into play the next 2 months our entire season can be defined with the smallest of choices.
Many FPL managers are using their Free Hit chips this week to put together an 11 of elite players all playing twice. Most teams seem to include a number of the same players so here I am going to look at a few players who could be included who may be being overlooked.
Ashley Young
Manchester United
Defender
5.7m
2.1%
DGW32 Fixtures: Watford (H) / Wolves (a)
Highlighted Stat: Over the last 10 GWs Ashley Young has produced the second highest amount of chances by a defender in the league (16) from 50 crosses. Interestingly Ashley Young has only played 8 of the last 10 games, so has racked up these stats from less games than others.
Plus points: With Luke Shaw pulling out of international duty because of injury and sitting 1 yellow card away from a suspension (for card accumulation), and Dalot more likely to cover further up the field for the likes of Alexis and others who are offering United a prolonged injury crisis at the top end of the field. Having retired from International football and with 2 weeks off ahead of 2 games in a week he is well placed to sit on either flank and provide potential assists alongside some set piece duties.
Negative points: United's defence hasn't been stellar this season, and Young has been liable to be rotated here and there. But often sitting with the captains armband and as a senior member in the club this could be overlooked.
Christian Eriksen
Tottenham Hotspur
Midfielder
9.2m
5.6%
DGW32 Fixtures: Liverpool (a), Crystal Palace (H)
Highlighted Stat: Eriksen sits in a good placement on the stats table, ticking away with good stats in important areas without necessarily catching fire and being on the forefront of Managers minds.
Eriksen creates 2 chances a game over the last 10 gameweeks (7th best in the league - midfielders) but without the finishing of Kane on the end, his conversion of these to FPL points has been limited. The England captain is back fit and firing for club and country giving Eriksen a route to points. As well as sitting 7th in chances created in the last 10 gameweeks. He is also sitting 7th in attempts on goal for midfielders with 25 (2.5 a game).
Plus Points: With Spurs' injury issues easing and games 2 double gameweeks and a game against Huddersfield over the next few weeks, Eriksen is primed to pick up points as Spurs could sit well to move on in their pursuit of 3rd place. It is also notable he has most set pieces to his name and Alli and Kane fit and in the box waiting for the ball.
Negative Points: With the return of Spurs' players they have Son, Lucas, Lamela and Eriksen all competing for premium on-field positioning behind Harry Kane. Eriksen makes the team tick but could see a deeper role with Alli in behind the striker and Son and Lucas/Lamela providing width.
Troy Deeney
Watford
Forward
5.9m
4.8%
DGW Fixtures: Manchester United (a) / Fulham (H)
Highlighted Stat: Creating 17 chances for teammates over the last 10 gameweeks (1.7 a game) puts Deeney 2nd highest in the league for forwards over this time (only behind Rondon). Deeney has also been involved of 60% of all his teams goals when he is on the pitch.
Plus Points: The midweek game at home to Fulham is being overlooked due to the away match at Manchester United, this gives Watford assets the distinct possibility of going into the gameweek as differentials. Deeney is on penalties and is the leader of the team.
Negative Points: Striker rotation between Deeney / Gray / Success and Deulofeu has been prevalent for Watford who face a historic FA Cup Semi Final a few days after the Fulham game which could see a number of starts rotated over the double gameweek.
