BEST FPL DIFFERENTIAL XI

The FPL Differential XI

For Gameweek 24, I wanted to try something a bit different... The other day while doing a Q + A, we were asked for a differential from any position after pondering this conundrum for a while, I found myself producing a differential XI. Price (m) Ownership (%) Team Team xG (Next 6) Clean Sheets expected (Next 6)
  • Ings 5.5 5.5 SOU 8.6 N/A
  • Firmino 9.3 22.3 LIV 13.7 N/A
  • Lucas 6.8 6.1 TOT 11.4 2.5
  • Mkhitaryan 7 3.8 ARS 12.3 1.7
  • Gray 5.4 0.8 LEI 6.1 2.1
  • Redmond 5.2 1.7 SOU 8.6 1.5
  • Young 5.7 1.7 MUN 11.8 1.9
  • Mendy 6.1 6.2 MCI 13.4 2.5
  • Bertrand 4.8 2 SOU 8.6 1.5
  • Rice 4.4 1.7 WHU 7.8 1.8
  • Dubravka 5 0.6 NEW N/A 1.8
Now of course this differential XI is by no means meant to be your entire team. But here are some players that when they play will add something a little different to your team. Upon reflection it became obvious that Firmino was owned by over 20% in the game, other than that these players are all owned by under 10% of FPL Managers.

Key Data Analysis

Looking at this data I have highlighted the players who stand out in our usual metric of good price, low ownership and good prospect for points. Young seems to be the favoured full back under Ole to fill the right flank, as his penetration down the wing and crossing on his favoured right foot fits the system Ole is forming. With the asymmetrical 4-3-3 being deployed by the Norwegian there is space on the right side for Young to move into. He will miss matches but when he does, cheap subs like Wan-Bissaka makes the risk a little easier for FPL managers. Ings is in my team chiefly for his good fixtures over the prospective blank gameweek in GW27. Ings faces Cardiff, Arsenal and Fulham over a 3 week spell and provides excellent attacking coverage at a cheap price. Tottenham players are dropping like flies at the moment and a distinct lack of pace in forward areas lends itself to the return of the Brazilian Lucas. Lucas at 6.8m has missed 3 games in a row with a knee problem, but an appearance off the bench in Spurs' defeat to Chelsea in the League Cup could see this 6.8m dovetail with Son's return from the AFC Asian Cup for 3 successive premier league home games for Tottenham. Arsenal have a good run of games over the BGW27 period, all starting with a game this week against Cardiff at the Emirates. Lots of attacking options in FPL at the moment but one that is flying under the radar due to some time out with injury is Mkhitaryan. Due back in full training this coming week, he could be a pivotal asset come the BGW, and show some of that form that saw him bandwagon early in the season (or he will show the form that forced that bandwagon to break down).

The Southampton Factor

While doing the research for this article two players popped up in my research due to transfers in real life. No its not Higuain (although he could do bits)… Its is Southampton pair Valery and Bednarek. Priced at 4.0m (0.4% TSB) and 3.9m (5.8% TSB) respectively these two will see themselves become first team starters with Hoedt's transfer to Celta Vigo and Cedric's transfer to Inter Milan. Southampton have an excellent run and to be honest their whole team is Under the Radar. Producing the 4th most shots in the league up until now I featured Ings, Redmond and Bertrand in my article due to; - Ings' training under Klopp giving him the perfect learning curve for Hasenhuttl's high press, and Charlie Austin potentially being sold. - Redmond playing out of position as an auxiliary striker or and inside right/left wing forward. - Bertrand due to Targett picking up a knock in the last game. But not only can we add the cheap dream pair of Valery and Bednarek but we can also add James Ward Prowse (5.0m / 0.5% TSB) who has stepped up with all set piece duties, including penalties in Ings' injury absence, and has scored from open play too. Southampton face up against: Crystal Palace (H), Burnley (A), Cardiff (H), Arsenal (A) and Fulham (H) over the next 5 Gameweeks, and crucially not blanking in Gameweek 27.

Final Differential XI from Gameweek 24 onwards

So taking all of this into considering and watching the FA cup matches over the weekend my final differential xi at this point will be; Dubravka Valery / Bednarek / Young Redmond / James Ward Prowse / Kevin De Bruyne / Gray / Mkhitaryan Higuain / Ings What do you think?
