Gameweek 32 Captain Tips

fplhollyFPLHolly is back, fresh from the International Break, with her selection of captain picks for Gameweek 32. Her Clueless Husband is running low on inspiration, as the season heads towards its close. Wow, Gameweek 31 was one to remember. The captain decision was so crucial and the masses who went with Mohammed Salah were rewarded with the biggest captain points total of the season! It meant that the biggest blank gameweek of the season was not littered with low scores. Who should you look to this week?

Shield Pick: Mohammed Salah vs Crystal Palace (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 4/6 Once again, Mo Salah will be the most captained, and those still playing the game will be pinning the armband on him again this time. He has six returns in his last seven games and his ownership is still rising! He faces a weak Crystal Palace side who have just one clean sheet in their last eight games, conceding an average of two goals per game. Salah scored in Egypt's first game of the International Break and was then rested for the second game, so he should be fresh. The downside is that Liverpool face Manchester City in the Champions League next midweek, so he could be substituted early. If you've a strong rank to protect, give Salah the armband once more!

Sword Pick: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang vs Stoke (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 8/11 An interesting option this week is Aubameyang, who is assured a start despite Arsenal's involvement in the Europa League, since he is cup-tied. He has goals in his last two games and Arsenal are usually strong at home. Stoke are struggling for form and have a habit of conceding away to big teams. The only issue is the service that Aubameyang will recieve, since the rest of the team could be rotated with their Europa League game next Thursday in mind. Will you opt for the sword pick?

Form Pick: David Silva vs Everton (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 12/5 Despite his rotation risk due to personal reasons, Silva is the City player of choice this week due to his excellent form: three goals and one assist in his last three games. There is an element of risk as he may not feature, but if he's in the squad he starts: if you opt for him put some thought into your vice captain just in case! City are two wins away from the title, so despite Champions League on the horizon, they'll be going all out to win this one. Everton haven't kept a clean sheet away from Goodison Park in their last six games. Are you going to opt for form?

Fixture Pick: Romelu Lukaku vs Swansea (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 5/6 Romelu Lukaku is back at his best and in form: he has returns in his last three Premier League games for United and performed for Belgium over the break too! When he is on a hot streak there's no stopping him and he scored in the reverse fixture. Swansea struggle to keep things tight on the road and Lukaku will see 90 minutes since Manchester United are out of European competitions. Will you go with the fixture pick?

Reverse Pick: Marcos Alonso v Spurs (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 7/2 Clean Sheet Odds: 9/5 When Chelsea visited Wembley back in August, Alonso scored a brace and amassed 16 points. He is a worthwhile contender for the captain armband again this time, since attacking returns are more than possible from this defender. Spurs are likely to be without Harry Kane, so may struggle more than normal from an attacking perspective. Are you going for it?

Punt Pick: Riyad Mahrez vs Brighton (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 14/5 Mahrez is a popular wildcard player and could be a good outside bet for the captain armband this week. He has goals in his last two Premier League games and back in Gameweek 2, he got two assists in the reverse fixture. He's a man in form and looking to impress potential buyers ahead of the summer. Will you take a risk?

Park the Bus Pick: David De Gea vs Swansea (H)

Clean Sheet Odds: 1/2 A goalkeeper features in this section, on a rare occasion! Rotation in the United backline means that De Gea is a nailed on contender, he has ten clean sheets this season already and plenty of save points too. He will be looking for another clean sheet in this one as he hunts down the Golden Glove. Jordan Ayew is still suspended which boosts De Gea's potential. De Gea even got an assist over the International Break! Are you brave enough to captain a keeper?

Clueless Husband Pick: Roberto Firmino vs Crystal Palace (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 19/20 It seems that the Clueless Husband is running out of ideas for his captain pick. This week when I asked him, he opted for Firmino because “he's the first one I could think of and he looks a bit like Gok Wan!” The revelation that Firmino is actually Brazilian blew his mind! Bobby has four returns in five, with a favourable fixture, so could be a worthy candidate in Gameweek 32. Will you side with my Clueless Husband? Until Next Week… Good Luck! Holly.
