Gameweek 23 saw returns from the top three captaincy contenders: those who opted for Kane were rewarded with the best returns, following a brace at Everton. Salah also managed a double digit score against Manchester City and Lukaku chipped in with 5 points.Time for Harry Kane to deliver...#FPL pic.twitter.com/A0SvnzOoDN

The captaincy decision looks to be wide open for Gameweek 24, with a whole host of options with a good record against their opponents. As we get to the business end of the season, a good captain choice could make all the difference to those overall ranks and mini league positions. Here's my selections.📌Gameweek 24 sees the reverse of the Boxing Day Gameweek 20 fixtures.

Shield Pick: Mohammed Salah vs Swansea (A)
Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 17/20Salah's fantastic form continues and he looks to have recovered from the injury which kept him out of Gameweek 22. He has 5 goals and 4 assists in his last 5 starts, and this week travels to bottom of the league Swansea. In the reverse fixture, Liverpool beat Swansea 5-0 and Salah chipped in with two assists. Salah has the highest ownership in the game and is likely to be the most popular captain option this week following that impressive performance against Manchester City. If you have a strong rank to defend, give Mo that armband!Across his last 12 games played he's averaged 10.2 #FPL points per game

Sword Pick: Sergio Aguero v Newcastle (H)
Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 2/5A home fixture against Newcastle just screams goals for Sergio: in fact he has scored every time he has faced them at the Etihad. Who can forget the 5 goals he scored against them in the 2015/16 season? He is guaranteed a start, with Jesus still sidelined and he is the first choice penalty taker for Manchester City. He is in decent form, with 3 goals and 2 assists over the last 5 games. The Cityzens will be looking to bounce back following their first defeat of the season. If you need to bounce back from a disappointing Gameweek 23, give Sergio the armband this time out.👕Aguero v Newcastle in his starts at the Etihad

Form Pick: Harry Kane vs Southampton (A)
Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 4/5Harry Kane rewarded the patience of his owners with a brace last time out, when he's in form he just can't stop scoring. Many will be hoping that his hot streak continues this week, especially since he got a hat trick against the Saints at Wembley last month. He has an excellent record against Southampton: 5 goals and 3 assists in 10 appearances. Saints are really struggling defensively right now, conceding 9 goals in their last 4 games. Harry is on penalties and is the top scorer in the Premier League: does he get your armband this week?🙏 "He can achieve all he wishes and he wants." 🙏

Fixture Pick: Roberto Firmino vs Swansea (A)
Anytime Goalscorer Odds: EvensFirmino has an incredible 4 double digit totals in his last 6 games and this week has a favourable fixture against a Swansea side who have conceded 17 goals in their last 7 games. Roberto scored a brace when Swansea visited Anfield last month and has 5 goals and 3 assists in the most recent period. His form away from home is fantastic; with totals of 13, 12 and 11 in his last three outings. Keep an eye out for news of the FA investigation involving him. Will you captain the fixture pick this week?Man of the match, @LFC's Roberto Firmino 41 touches 25 passes, 2 chances created 4 shots, 2 on target 2 goals, 16 this season (9 in PL) 5 goals in 4 PL apps v Swansea pic.twitter.com/KP9aVZmiFk

Punt Pick: Marko Arnautovic vs Bournemouth (H)
Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 13/10Since David Moyes took charge at the London Stadium, Arnautovic has been impressive and is ownership is surging. The Hammers are struggling for forward options and so he is playing in an advanced role. He has returned in each of his last 5 starts and got a brace in the reverse fixture, just a few weeks ago. If you are looking to boost your rank with an outside pick, Arnautovic could be the ideal candidate this week.Marko Arnautovic has been involved in 7 goals in his last 4 Premier League games

Park the Bus Pick: Marcos Alonso vs Brighton (A)
Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 17/5 Clean Sheet Odds: 3/4Giving Alonso the armband is an intriguing decision: he has plenty of potential for FPL points with goals, assists and clean sheets. His points ceiling is higher than players in other positions, he could easily score a brace and earn a clean sheet in a game which would likely give a score of 20+ points. Chelsea have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 6 games, Brighton have scored just 3 in this period. Alonso is the best option from the Chelsea team and the most kindly priced. With 14 points in the reverse fixture, are you brave enough to give him the armband this time out?The best defenders always try and join the attack. Clueless Husband Pick: Hector Bellerin vs Crystal Palace (H)
Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 8/1 Clean Sheet Odds: 8/5The gap in our mini league has widened, and my husband is still ranked around 200k. He was delighted with the 26 points from Son last time out. This week, his attention turns to Bellerin, who he acquired ahead of Gameweek 23 and was rewarded with a goal. Bellerin now has 2 goals in his last 2 games: but be warned, Arsenal haven't kept a clean sheet since Gameweek 18. Will you go with my Clueless Husband's selection? Until Next Week… Good Luck! Holly.
