Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season from @FPL_Heisenberg for FPL Bet. In this weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best captaincy options, as well as ‘outside of the box' captaincy choices for each Gameweek. Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 32k in each of the last 6 seasons, including a best finish of 836th. Let's cook!
Gameweek 13 Captains:
Bruno Fernandes (Sheffield United, Away)
Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation since joining Man United and is a fantastic option for captaincy yet again away against bottom of the table Sheffield United.
He's central to everything Man United do, and, importantly he takes penalties and as we all know, United win a lot of them! Bruno does very well away from home, as he proved against Brighton, Newcastle, Everton and Southampton with double digit hauls in all of his away games that he has started this season. He also got a 6-pointer off the bench vs West Ham away, with a sensational 45 minutes where he created a whopping 8 chances, breaking records in the process.
It's an incredibly tough choice between the two Manchester Midfeild Maestros this week…
Kevin De Bruyne (Fixture: West Brom, Home)
De Bruyne produced the goods with a 10-pointer at home to Burnley, followed by a 14-pointer at home to Fulham. This was then followed up by a drab 0-0 at Old Trafford, where both teams were poor from an attacking point of view.
De Bruyne was last seasons top point scorer, but he needs to start adding more open play goals to his assists if he wants to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. He has a strong chance of doing that this week, after he was once again well-rested in all of Man City's last three Champions League matches.
Will Man City be able to kick on further and build upon their free-scoring performances. For those captaining De Bruyne, they'll sure hope so.
Jamie Vardy (Fixture: Everton, Home)
In Gameweek 12, Vardy went big with 2 assists and 1 goal at home To Brighton, his owners will be hoping he can continue this in Gameweek 13 at home to Everton.
Top Stat: despite playing less minutes than many top players Vardy is top in terms of expected goals, with 9.44. The Leicester number 9 will be full of confidence following his last minute goal away to Sheffield United and, as mentioned above, his performance against Brighton.
Vardy has all the qualities I look for in a captain, nailed on to play 80 plus minutes virtually every Gameweek, proven goalscorer, good underlying stats and on penalties. Further to that he's at home, against an Everton side who have struggled for clean sheets so far this season.
‘Outside of the Box' captains:
Danny Ings (Fixture: Arsenal, Away)
The Southampton talisman is currently selected by under 8.5% of FPL players at the time of writing, and he will be a huge captain differential, with your mini-league rivals likely to captain one of the premium assets like Vardy, Bruno, De Bruyne etc.
The Saints number 9 will be full of confidence following his goal from the bench on his return to action following his injury. If he can keep that attacking momentum going, then Ings could score well against an Arsenal side that are really struggling.
It's also worth remembering that Ings is Southampton's penalty taker, giving him that extra route to potential points which is always nice for your FPL captain.
Patrick Bamford (Fixture: Newcastle, Home)
The first time Patrick Bamford makes my captaincy article, and for good reason too. He's scoring goals, he's getting big chances and is high on the expected goals stats.
This week he has a decent fixture at home to Newcastle, and I'm expecting at least 1 goal for the Leeds number 9.
Currently sitting at around 40% ownership at the time of writing � he is still a huge differential if you captain him! I think it's fairly safe to say that of those who own him, very few of them will be throwing the armband on him.
