FPL Heisenberg's Captain Series
Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season from @FPL_Heisenberg for FPL Bet. In this weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best captaincy options, as well as ‘outside of the box' captaincy choices for each Gameweek. Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 32k in each of the last 6 seasons, including a best finish of 836th. Let's cook!
Blank Gameweek 29 Captains:
Harry Kane (Fixture: Aston Villa, Away)
Harry Kane has been a goal threat for many years in the Premier League, but his assist threat is something he's added to his game. His season was defined recently vs Crystal Palace where he got 2 goals and 2 assists.
His passing ability has always been exceptional, but tactically he was more the man to get on the end of passes, now he's creating chances for two other good attackers, Gareth Bale and Heung-Min Son. The stats show how much better he's become creatively and he now has the most FPL assists of any player which is outstanding.
The bad news for Kane is he's just played 120 minutes away in the Europa League, therefore he (and Spurs as a team) could suffer from fatigue in Gameweek 29.
If you don't have Kane in your FPL team then maybe you fancy putting the armband on his teammate, the Welsh pin-up Gareth Bale who's come back into our thoughts in recent weeks.
Gareth Bale (Fixture: Aston Villa, Away)
Gareth Bale has looked somewhat back to his best in recent weeks scoring plenty of goals in Europe and the Premier League alike.
With 4 goals and 2 assists in last 5 league games, there's certainly nothing wrong with his form, casting my mind back to the goals vs Crystal Palace, these were both scored from close range, which is good to see as he's getting himself into the correct positions to score easier goals.
The bad news for Bale is he's just played 60 minutes away in the Europa League and previous to this he was dragged at The Emirates after 55 minutes. Therefore, a combination of his injury history and Mourinho not being satisfied with his performance vs Arsenal, means limited minutes are likely for the Welshman
A tough fixture for Spurs away at Villa, will Bale and Kane be able to break through the wall of Emi Martinez?
Raphinha (Fixture: Fulham, Away)
The Brazilian midfielder is currently selected by around 15.5% of FPL players at the time of writing, but he could be a popular captain choice this week, given the fact that only eight teams play this week.
The silky midfielder has been a revelation so far this season and since he made his debut, creating numerous chances � the most of any player in the last 6 Gameweeks. Playing in a team who see plenty of action in both penalty areas so the chances of him getting an attacking return are very good.
Leeds are facing a Fulham side who are decent defensively, but Leeds will still fancy their chances of scoring a few at Craven Cottage. Raphinha gets the extra point for a goal over the popular choice Harry Kane and the potential for a clean sheet point too, so don't be surprised to see him outscore England's number 9.
‘Outside of the Box' captain:
Ademola Lookman (Fixture: Leeds, Home)
One of my differential captain picks in Gameweek 29 is the £5.1m Fulham midfielder Lookman. Currently sitting at 3.6% ownership at the time of writing � he will be a huge captain differential, with your mini-league rivals likely to captain one of the premium assets such as Kane or Bale.
In terms of FPL potential, Lookman is right up there. Over the last 6 Gameweeks only Kane and Raphinha have more shots and chances created combined out of all players in the League.
A tricky fixture vs a good Leeds side, but if Leeds defend like we know they sometimes do, conceding a lot of chances, then Lookman could well be in the points this week.
Making a player from Fulham your captain is not something that a boring player like myself would ever do, but if you like taking risks then Lookman could be your man, especially with most of the big hitters not playing this week, maybe now is the time to take a punt.
Lewis Dunk (Fixture: Newcastle, Home)
Slim pickings given the fixtures this week, but if you want to punt on a defender then why not go for one with goal threat at home to a poor Newcastle side. Furthermore, Brighton's expected goals conceded stats are very encouraging, so don't be surprised to see them pull off a clean sheet vs Newcastle in this relegation battle 6-pointer.
Those brave enough to go for Lewis Dunk will be hoping he can add to his 4 goals so far this season, hopefully scooping up some bonus points too. Out of all defenders in the games, only Stuart Dallas (5) has more goals than Lewis Dunk.
