Fantasy Premier League Captain Tips For Gameweek 32

Share post on:
Welcome back to another Fantasy Premier League Captain Tips for Gameweek 32 article. This week jamieFPL analyses the best candidates for your captain's armband. This article will compare the last four Premier League performances of Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Dimitri Payet and Riyad Mahrez. We are going to look at recent points, fixture difficulty, goal scoring form and creativity to reach a verdict on which player is the most rounded captaincy choice for Gameweek 32.

Recent Form:

# Player Mins Pts
1 Kane 360 37
2 Mahrez 349 29
3 Payet 360 27
4 Aguero 360 17
Harry Kane has been talismanic for both club and country over the last month and his goalscoring form has kept Tottenham well and truly in the title race. Riyad Mahrez is still running at his usual level of consistency and has scored decisive goals to secure Leicester three points in their last two outings. Dimitri Payet has returned to the form that made him a must have at the beginning of the season and has lots to play for with West Ham sitting just one point outside of a Champions League spot. Other than his brace against Aston Villa, Sergio Aguero has looked goal-shy and failed to return points with the consistency that a player of his value should.

Opposition Difficulty:

# Player Vs. BCC GC
1 Payet 360 37 8
2 Mahrez 349 29  6
3 Aguero 360 27 6
4 Kane 360 17 4
West Ham are undefeated in their last 12 home matches and this weekend host a Crystal Palace side who have lost nine of their last 11, giving Dimitri Payet the best fixture out of the bunch. Riyad Mahrez and Sergio Aguero have the same opposition difficulty on paper, but based on Leicester's superior home form (undefeated in last 11) Mahrez slightly edges this one. Liverpool have kept two clean sheets from their last four and haven't presented many big chances to their opposition. Three of their four goals conceded did come last week though and if Mane can put two past Mignolet then surely the league's top scorer will have no trouble.

Goalscoring Form:

# Player BC SoT GS
1 Kane 6 12 5
2 Aguero 3 6 2
3 Mahrez 3 4 2
4 Payet 1 3 1
Harry Kane's five goals in his last three matches have now pushed him two goals clear of Vardy in the Premier League top goalscorer table. Over the last four weeks he's had twice as many shots on target as Aguero. Sergio Aguero has scored two in his last four, but it's important to remember that both of these came against Aston Villa. It's clear he's not being presented with enough big chances though, averaging at less than one a game.   Leicester have started to rely more on tight defensive performances and singular goals to win matches, but it's Mahrez that seems to be scoring them so he still remains invaluable to your team. Payet's only found the net once from his last four, but looked impressive in the international friendlies scoring an excellent free-kick and assisting Coman against Russia, despite coming on in the 62nd minute.

Creativity:

# Player CC A
1 Payet 17 3
2 Mahrez 5 1
3 Kane 5 0
4 Aguero 1 0
There's no competition on the chances created front with Dimitri Payet averaging 4.25 a game, aided by the fact he's West Ham's free kick and corner taker. He's also leading the table on assists with three from his last four matches. Mahrez and Kane have created the same amount of chances but only Mahrez has seen one of his converted. Aguero has provided very little for his teammates in attack, but he's not exactly known for assisting.

Who To Captain In Gameweek 32:

# Player Form Fixture Threat Creativity
1 Kane 1 4 1 3
2 Payet 3 1 4 1
3 Mahrez 2 2 3 2
4 Aguero 4 2 2 5

The Verdict:

Harry Kane is our choice for the armband again this week, ranking top of our table on form and goal threat. He may have the hardest fixture of the four on paper, but Liverpool still managed to concede three to Southampton last game week. Dimitri Payet stakes a claim for captaincy with a very nice fixture at home to Crystal Palace. On paper, the Hammers look set to score a couple and no doubt Payet will conjure up some points if that's the case. Riyad Mahrez has good all round statistics but his goal threat has decreased now Leicester have begun scoring less. If you fancy Leicester to put a few past Southampton at home then he's arguably as good of a pick as Payet. Sergio Aguero is always a worthy candidate for the armband but we imagine a lot of fantasy managers have lost patience with him after last week. With the worst form of the bunch it's hard to justify giving him the armband, despite facing Bournemouth.
