FPL Potential

Matt Targett (3.7m) 5.9% Ownership

[Fixtures: West Brom (H), Arsenal (a), Man United (a), West Ham (H), Swansea (a)] The young full-back made his return to first team action, as ‘The Saints' recorded their second clean sheet in succession at St. Mary's. Standing in the way of another is West Brom, who have failed to score in five of their last eight Premier League meetings with Southampton. At the start of the season, Matt Targett filled in for the then injured Ryan Bertrand but has been a rare starter since then. However, with Ronald Koeman shifting Targett into a more advanced role, on the left side of midfield, the 20-year-old looks to have won his place back in the team. Targett impressed in midweek, grabbing an assist with an inch perfect cross to Shane Long and securing the maximum 3 bonus points on FPL a large amount of Southampton fans thought he deserved the Man of The Match award. Following the West Brom match, where there is a 52% implied chance of Southampton securing a clean sheet, some tough fixtures present themselves. Nevertheless, at this bargain price, playing as part of the midfield and with a low ownership, Matt Targett is definitely a player to keep tabs on.

Hugo Lloris (5.2m) 7.1% Ownership

[Fixtures: Sunderland (H), Crystal Palace (a), Norwich (a), Watford (H), Man City (a)] Almost a quarter of all FPL managers own Jack Butland, but with some tricky fixtures on the horizon with Arsenal, Leicester, Man United and Everton their next 4 matches many are looking for a straight replacement to cover this period. You have to options in our eyes; either Hugo Lloris for an identical price or West Ham's Adrian at 0.2m cheaper. In our opinion, Tottenham are the team to back over the next few weeks. They have conceded fewer goals than any other team in the Premier League this season, by a 3-goal margin might we add and overall have appeared the most reliable source for a clean sheet throughout the season. I think a realistic prediction is that Spurs can secure three clean sheets over their next 5 fixtures, including Gameweek 22. Hugo Lloris is, without doubt, a camera-friendly goalkeeper, but despite his acrobatic style, he has only caught the eye of 7.1% of FPL managers. A fantastic captain for club and country and the best replacement for Jack Butland in our honest opinion.

FantasyBet & Mondogoal Stacks

Stacking: To pair multiple players from the same team in an effort to increase upside. (For example, if Chelsea secure a clean sheet in Gameweek 22 and you own 3 of their defenders, instead of 1 your upside is tripled). Stacking has proven an extremely successful strategy in the past. The best example of profiting from this tactic was on Mondogoal, when Alex Haywood or @HaystackedDFS on twitter placed all of his eggs in one basket (a Newcastle stack in his case) and transformed a £1 entry ticket into a leg-buckling £10,000 he is the biggest U.K daily fantasy football winner to date. Here are some possible stacks for Gameweek 22 on FantasyBet (FB) and Mondogoal (MO).

Low Risk Tottenham stack vs. Sunderland

As we mentioned in the section above, Tottenham have been an extremely strong defensive outfit in the 2015/16 campaign so far. They possess masses of talent across the back four, with the likes of Kyle Walker (FB: 5.0m MO: 9.5m) bombing forward, Toby Alderweireld (FB: 5.5m MO: 9.5m) rising highest to meet headers and the out of position pick of Eric Dier (FB: 5.0m MO: 8.4m) spraying passes around in the centre of midfield. Tottenham Hotspur have won eight and lost none of their last 11 Barclays Premier League games against Sunderland and with Hugo Lloris (FB: 5.0m MO: 7.9m) between the sticks, another win and a clean sheet is a likely outcome.

Medium Risk Southampton vs. West Brom

After many months of despair for ‘The Saints', they finally seem to be finding their feet again. Following five Premier League matches of being unsuccessful of shutting their opposition out, they have managed to secure back-to-back clean sheets in their couple of home fixtures. In their slump period, Ronald Koeman was tinkering around with formations trialing a 3-5-2, an old fashioned 4-4-2 and so on. This did not help his side's defensive solidarity and he has recently reverted back to a loose 4-2-3-1 formation with Mane playing as a secondary striker. Fraser Forster (FB: 4.5m MO: 8.3m) made his return in midweek while the physically imposing pair of Virgil Van Dijk (FB: 5.5m MO: 6.2m) and Jose Fonte (FB: 5.0m MO: 7.5m) make up the backbone of the team. Ryan Bertrand (FB: 5.0m MO: 7.0m) and Matt Targett (FB: 4.0m MO: 6.3m) should continue as a pairing down the left flank, with the former offering unrivalled value and huge points potential when playing as a midfielder.

High Risk Bournemouth vs. Norwich

Our high-risk option for Gameweek 22 is Bournemouth. They always play with total confidence on home soil and Eddie Howe seems to have instilled belief within his squad that they can play with the same style against any opposition. ‘The Cherries' have escaped the grasp of the relegation zone and will now aim to push on towards mid-table territory. No team has scored more goals in the opening 15 minutes of Premier League games this season than the Cherries (six goals, level with Stoke City), so if they can find the net early vs. Norwich, then they could potentially dominate from there forth. Their opposition have conceded 6 in their last two fixtures, in all competitions, while scoring just once in this time frame. Our player recommendations are the two fullbacks from the home side, Charlie Daniel (FB: 4.5m MO: 8.9m) and Adam Smith (FB: 4.0m MO: 8.5m). The former has contributed 2 assists and 1 goal in his last 12 appearances while the latter has notched 2 goals and 1 assist in his last eight matches.
