Welcome back to another Fantasy La Liga Five Tips for Gameweek 17 article. This week Callum Read returns ahead of Gameweek 17 with his top five tips.
The Spanish football is back after a brief Christmas break, in Gameweek 16 we saw Real Madrid beat city rivals Rayo Vallecano 10-2 with both Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale scoring hat tricks in the win. The win still isn't enough to get Rafa Benitez over with the Madrid fans who still are unhappy with their manager. Barcelona didn't play in the last round of La Liga as they were to busy winning another trophy in China. This week they return to domestic action and face 11th placed Real Betis. Luis Enrique's side have drawn their last two league matches and will be itching to get back on the winning train in front of their own fans. Neymar is fit once again and will be partnered up top with the remainder of his famous trident Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. This match up tends to have goals; Barcelona have scored at least 3 goals in their last 6 homes matches against Real Betis and the current champions have scored at least two goals in their last seven home league matches. It's an obvious tip but one that could be overlooked, get one of MSN into your side.Lucas Perez to continue scoring.
The Premier League witnessed a fine run of goal scoring from Leicester City's Jamie Vardy earlier this season, over in Spain we have our very own goal machine � Lucas Perez. The Deportivo striker has scored 12 goals in 16 La Liga games this season and has now scored in 7 consecutive league games. The goals haven't come against the weaker opposition either with the forward grabbing himself goals against Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Barcelona. This weekend Deprotivo welcome Getafe to the Estadio Riazor,. It's even more bad news for Getafe as they have the worse away form in the league having not recorded a win away from home this season and conceding 20 goals in their eight away fixtures.Sporting Gijon to struggle for goals at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.
If you're expecting a classic between Eibar and Sporting Gijon don't be to disappointed when the game doesn't deliver. Both clubs are in an awful run of form; Eibar are without a win in their last five games (D2 L3) and Sporting Gijon have only won one in the same period (W1 L4). Gijon haven't been scoring for fun this season � scoring only seven on their travels, whilst Eibar have been a strong defensive team in front of their own fans only conceding eight goals at home. We expect this to continue this weekend with Eibar keeping a clean sheet. Goalkeeper Asier Riesgo and defenders David Juncà and Mauro Dos Santos could all be good options for your side(s).Atletico Madrid to bounce back.
Atletico missed out on the chance to go top of the league in Gamweek 16 losing 1-0 to Malaga. The performance wasn't the best and they really lacked that cutting edge up front. This weekend they travel to Madrid rivals Rayo Vallecano who under Paco Jemez have become many peoples second sides. Paco's side plays without fear and throw men forwards in an attempt to score, this will leave plenty of room for Diego Simeone's side to expose on the counter attack. The Argentine manager has had to dwell on the loss to Malaga for a few weeks now and will be determined to put it behind him with a win at Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.Malaga to win away from home.
Malaga have been awful away from home this season winning only one from eight games, scoring two goals in the process. This weekend they travel to face Levante who have the second worst home form behind Granada (W2, D3, L4).
