Fantasy Championship Five Tips For Gameweek 30

Share post on:
Welcome back to another Fantasy Championship five tips for Gameweek 30 article. Joe Dean returns with his top five tips ahead of Gameweek 30 in the English Championship. Only 7 fixtures took place in a FA Cup-affected Gameweek but its back to normal this weekend with a full program of Championship games. In the games that did go ahead, Joe Mason scored just 3 minutes into his Wolves debut only for basement side Bolton to put on a superb late comeback to earn an unlikely point. Charlton ended their 11 game winless run with an emphatic victory at Rotherham and Ipswich moved back into the top 6 with a 2-1 triumph over Reading. Deadline day was dominated by the Jordan Rhodes saga, with the former Huddersfield and Blackburn striker completing a deal with Middlesbrough in excess of £10,000,000. As luck would have it, Rhodes' debut could be against Blackburn this Saturday. Elsewhere, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Alex Revell went to MK Dons, Jordi Gomez was loaned to Blackburn, Aiden McGeady joined Sheffield Wednesday and Nasser El Khayati made the move from Burton to QPR. Charlton were busy, bringing in Yaya Sanogo and Rod Fanni while James Tarkowski's move from Brentford to Burnley was finally completed. Here are our five tips for Gameweek 30. Our player prices come from our partners over at FantasyBet (FB) & Mondogoal (MO) - they host weekly Championship fantasy football contests for cash prizes.

Tip 1 Charlton to leapfrog Bristol City.

Charlton's 4-1 win at Rotherham last Saturday could be a real turning point in their season. When Jose Riga was appointed, 2 heavy defeats had made things look very bleak but 4 points from their last 2 games has given the Addicks some much needed momentum. With Bristol City visiting the Valley, Charlton can move out of the bottom 3 with a win, which would in turn drop the managerless Robins into the relegation places. I'm expecting Charlton to win and keep a clean sheet. Harry Lennon (MO:5.7m, FB:4.0m) has been a regular fixture in Charlton's backline while Igor Vetokele (MO:4.3m, FB:8.0m) will want to show that he's still capable of producing the kind of form he showed last season.

Tip 2  Rhodes to come back to haunt Blackburn.

It's in the script that Jordan Rhodes (MO:7.3m, FB:12.0m) will score on Saturday. After a very long drawn out transfer was eventually finalised on Deadline Day, the Scottish international is in line to make his Middlesbrough debut, 5 days after leaving Blackburn. His signing might be the boost his new side needed because after back to back defeats, Boro could see themselves drop out of the automatic promotion places should they lose at the Riverside. However Blackburn are really struggling at the moment and Paul Lambert is realising how tough the job he has taken on really is. They need to replicate their performances in the FA Cup to stand any chance of getting something against the highly fancied Boro but we can only see a home win here. Dani Ayala has a strong chance of a clean sheet while Albert Adomah (MO:8.5m, FB:7.0m) is always a threat to opposition defences.

Tip 3 Bolton to build on recent performances.

With such a miserable away record, Bolton need to pick up points at home to stand any chance of staying up. They followed up their home win over the MK Dons with an impressive point at Wolves and will see the visit of Rotherham as the perfect opportunity to close the gap to safety. The Millers were poor against fellow strugglers Charlton and the defeat has really tightened up the race for survival. Just 4 points ahead of Bolton, Neil Redfearn will see this as a vital game in their season. Although both teams need the points, I think home advantage will get Neil Lennon's men over the line. Captain Darren Pratley (MO:6.4m, FB:7.5m) has stepped up in recent weeks and they'll be hoping Liam Feeney (MO:5.2m, FB:7.0m) can create the chances the Trotters need to come away with the result.

Tip 4 Nottingham Forest to remain unbeaten.

Dougie Freedman's Forest go to Elland Road on the back of a 13 match unbeaten run stretching back to November. Against an inconsistent Leeds side you'd expect a confident performance from Forest as they look to put together a late charge for the playoffs. Leeds seem to be stuck in mid table once again and Steve Evans is determined to build momentum for a promotion push next season. They've struggled for goals in recent weeks though and that combined with Forest's watertight defence doesn't bode well for the home side. Matt Mills (MO:8.5m, FB:5.5m) is an experienced Championship defender and effective in both boxes while top scorer Nelson Oliveira (MO:7.1m, FB:6.5m) will be the focal point of the Forest attack.

Tip 5 Ipswich to falter at Loftus Road.

While Mick McCarthy continues to do an extraordinary job with very little resources at Ipswich, their lack of strength in depth is going to trip them up occasionally. They go to Loftus Road this Saturday to play a QPR side who will already have one eye on next season. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is starting to get into his stride at QPR and will want to put in place the solid foundations they'll need for a successful campaign next term. They'll need to make Loftus Road a fortress as they did in the Premier League and it may start against Ipswich. Nedum Onuoha (MO:7.3m, FB:5.5m) is a good player at this level and will hope that he can shutout the Tractor Boys, while Matt Phillips (MO:7.8m, FB:11.5m) and Sebastian Polter (MO:4.4m, FB:7.0m) acting as the main threats going forward.
