GW9 Stats - The Top Ten

Share post on:

Premier League GW9 Starts Friday 20th November 2020

We've done it, we've survived another international break. With no planned hiatus until March 2021, it means it is Premier League football all the way from here on in and with a busy festive period on the horizon, now is the time to get your FPL house in order.

A house that needs solid foundations, as although purchasing bargain defenders is always rather astute, we want to look at the furnishings for your fantasy home and that means looking at the glamour that comes with top scorers.

Your FPL stars may have been dormant last weekend, but that does not mean we have forgotten their efforts the week before and with that in mind, it is now time to review the top 10 highest scoring players in the game to date.

We have a new leader at the top of the table, well not a new leader as such but someone who know owns this status solely on his own and with Harry Kane's late winner over West Brom sending Tottenham top for about half an hour, the England forward is now leading the FPL points charts.

He now finds himself six points clear of teammate Heung-min Son in second and if there is one criticism of the South Korean, is that he has a habit of being patchy at times. With that in mind, have we seen the end of his most recent purple patch?

The Tottenham duo are now leaving Mohamed Salah behind and with the Egyptian international testing positive for COVID-19, his ability to score points in this gameweek has been curtailed. The question is, do you ship out or just bench for the foreseeable?

In fourth is Aston Villla's Jack Grealish and after having Arsenal on strings before the international break, he and Ross Barkley are quickly becoming one of the most entertaining double acts in the division.

While on the topic of double acts, Jamie Vardy would be fourth had he not missed his second penalty against Wolves and after a points deduction, he knows find himself one point behind Grealish in fifth.

From here there's a point margin train as Patrick Bamford's goal against Crystal Palace keeps him comfortably in the top ten and he finds himself one point clear of a slightly cooling Dominic-Calvert Lewin in seventh.

Eighth place is currently taken by Callum Wilson and after a quiet evening against Southampton, manager Steve Bruce will have to hope the knock he picked up at St Mary's, does not rule him out of action this weekend.

Wilson finds himself a point ahead of Wilfried Zaha in ninth and closing out the top 10 is a new entry. With the man in question being Bruno Fernandes, whose impressive points haul against Everton has shot him up the standings

While if you are looking for some defender love, a lot of it will go to Chelsea's Kurt Zouma, as the French international is currently the highest scoring player in this position and with 48 points to his name, is not someone you should be sleeping on right now.

Did You Know?

Liverpool have won 29 of their last 30 home matches (Premier League). With their injuries woes, what price Leicester finally ending their sensational run of results at Anfield?

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) has made the most key passes from open play in the Premier League this season, with 20. Although after testing positive for COVID-19, he won't be adding to that tally this weekend.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Newcastle's last 7 home games (Premier League) and with Chelsea firing on all cylinders, there is every chance that run extends to eight this weekend.

Especially when you consider, there have been over 2.5 goals scored in 10 of Chelsea's last 11 away games (Premier League).

Tottenham have the current longest unbeaten streak in the division, as after suffering a loss to Everton in their opening outing of the season, they have avoided defeat in the next seven.
