Premier League GW4 Starts Saturday 3rd October 2020

The return of the Premier League is trundling along at breakneck speed and with an abundance of goals to once again digest, it means the potential for scoring a bundle of FPL points has also been increased.

In a weekend that has been mired in handball controversy, it has also meant plenty of penalties and with none of them being kept out by goalkeepers up and down the league landscape, it is a quickfire way to get a points boost.

With the numbers crunched and week 3 of the season now in the history books, it is time to breakdown who the overall table toppers are at this current point in time:

There's a new man at the top of the shop as Jamie Vardy's hat-trick against Manchester City sees him climb to the top of the ladder and with five goals to his name, he shares top spot in the early Premier League Golden Boot race with the man who currently sits second.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was second in the charts last weekend, while after opening the scoring against Crystal Palace last weekend, he also takes his tally to five for the season and if this continues, he will be a shoe-in for England's European Championship squad in 2021.

One man who will harbour dreams of making that squad is Patrick Bamford and after scoring a late winner against Sheffield United last Sunday, the Leeds forward surges up to third spot in the points scoring table.

It was a relatively quiet week for both Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah although they did each create an assist and because of their work for the team, they occupy joint fourth in the current overall table.

While Timothy Castagne is quickly becoming a global FPL favourite, as the Belgian added another assist to his goal contribution tally and with 27 points to his name, he is the highest scoring defender in the game.

He shares joint sixth with South Korea's Heung-min Son and after drawing a blank against Newcastle, the bigger concern will be the fact that he was hauled off at half-time. Was it an injury or just precautionary?

Eighth place is currently occupied by Brighton's Neal Maupay and although he scored against Manchester United, he was also caught up in penalty controversy which cost his side a valuable point.

Sadio Mane was a busy boy on Monday night as he scored against Arsenal, although there is a question surrounding whether he should have been sent off in the first three minutes. Do you think he should have walked?

While Wilfried Zaha rounds out the top 10 with 24 points currently to his name and with two price rises already attached to his value, he is quickly becoming one of the hottest properties in the game at present.

Did You Know?

Michael Keane (Everton) has made the most accurate passes in his own half in the Premier League this season, with 208. I'm not saying that this is the reason why Everton have a perfect record this season, but it does seem that they are doing the basics rather well. (Apart from Jordan Pickford)

Sheffield Utd have lost their last 6 matches (Premier League). A worrying run of results on either side of the season split for Chris Wilder and his players.

Liverpool are undefeated in 35 of their last 38 matches (Premier League). The equivalent of a whole season's action and they've lost just three of them. A run that is nothing short of imperious and already it looks as if they are aiming to place an early season title marker.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Manchester City's last 7 games (Premier League). Admittedly there were seven in their last outing, the problem was that they conceded five of them and with Marcelo Bielsa going up against Pep Guardiola this weekend, we could be in for an absolute bundle of net bulgers.
