GW35+ Stats - Number Crunching Time

Premier League GW35+ Begins Saturday 11th July 2020

This is it, the final fortnight of the season. Usually if we looked at that opening sentence, there would be two full gameweeks and a smattering of leftover fixtures due to previous cup commitments.

However, this season has been the strangest of all and with four full fixture rounds still to play, the Premier League action is bursting at the seams and even if you're struggling to keep up with it all, thankfully we've got you covered.

That's because we've once again crunched all the numbers and looked between the results to provide you with another bundle of everyone's favourite statistical series. Yes, it is time for another round of….

Did You Know?

Liverpool are breaking all sorts of records and going on all kinds of monster runs this season and last week we referenced their attempt to go FIFTY-SEVEN home league games unbeaten (three whole seasons worth of home games)

They managed that with a win over Aston Villa and that 2-0 victory also meant that they have won their last 24 league games at Anfield. Not just undefeated, but they have won every one of them.

Standing in the way of a quarter century this weekend are Sean Dyche's Burnely and I don't know about you, but have you wondered what the Ginger lothario sounds like when he ACTUALLY has a sore throat? Answers on a postcard please.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 14 of Chelsea's last 17 away games (Premier League). Could be worth a little punt at the weekend for this run to continue, it just depends how tight Sheffield United's defence turns out to be and it is that, that may prove to be the stumbling block.

Norwich have lost their last 6 matches (Premier League). A run which has pushed them so close to the relegation precipice and the fact that they've scored an average of 0.76 goals per league game, might just be the thing that pushes them over it this weekend.

Manchester United's impressive unbeaten run continues, and it is now into double figures, while this coming Monday the Red Devils will look to also earn their fifth straight Premier League win.

While it is also double figures for the team that they beat on Thursday, unfortunately for Aston Villa it is a run of 10 games without a Premier League win and for the West Midlands outfit, things are looking bleaker with each failure they record.

Things aren't that much better for Bournemouth, as it's no win in nine for Eddie Howe's men and although they picked up a point against Tottenham, they still need more to get themselves out of the bottom three. The draw may be a small step, but they will need a win and a giant leap very soon.

The race for the Golden Boot is heating up and although no one is scoring rampant numbers in the 30's, it does at least mean that there are plenty of contenders. A list which is currently led by Jamie Vardy and his 22 goals for Leicester.

The former England forward is two clear of Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a further goal clear of both Danny Ings and Mohamed Salah and the award will go to any combination of this quartet.

While a closer inspection of Danny Ings suggests that his goals have been nothing short of invaluable for Southampton this season. Of the Saints' current tally of 43, the former Liverpool forward has scored 19 and this equates to 44% of all their goals. Talk about carrying the load.

Also, he has scored the most Premier League goals away from this season with 11. Which means he's also scored more times on the road, than he has at St Mary's.

Manchester United have had their passes intercepted the most times per game in the Premier League this season, with 12.56. Interesting reading. However, they are getting the job done, so I don't think this will be too much of a concern to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

Jefferson Lerma continues to rack up the disciplinary points and he has once again moved clear in the Premier League's bad boy list. An eye-watering 11 bookings to go alongside a solitary sending off, you would not want to invite him to your birthday party.
