Are we at the business end of the season? Not quite, I think legally that portion of the campaign arrives after the Easter Holidays. Which means although we are not there yet, the upcoming gameweek is of no less importance.

To be honest, every gameweek between now and the final day in May is of massive importance and if you are mounting a championship challenge, now is certainly not the time to take your eye off the ball.

Then again, there is still just about enough time to get your house in order and with 11 gameweeks (including this one) remaining, those point gaps that once looked insurmountable and, in the distance, can still be reeled back in.

Of course, to either stay at the top of the tree or eat into the margin above, you are going to need to select some big hitters and they do not get any bigger than the current top 10 player points scorers. A list that looks as follows:

The status quo remains at the top of the FPL shop, as Bruno Fernandes straddles the summit once again. However, it is all change behind him and although the Manchester United midfielder scored a penalty against Manchester City, there were more impressive efforts behind him.

Efforts that came courtesy of Harry Kane and with the England international bagging a brace against Crystal Palace last Sunday, it now means that the Tottenham talisman has leapfrogged his teammate into second place.

Kane now finds himself 24-points behind Fernandes and four-points clear of fellow Tottenham star Heung-min Son. While the South Korean took advantage of another bust from Mohamed Salah, to go seven points clear of the Egyptian.

That's the top four locked up and it would take something special to break through that quartet between now and the end of the season. However, if there is someone who can do it, then look no further than Emiliano Martinez.

The Argentine goalkeeper kept another clean sheet for Aston Villa at the weekend and in doing so, has moved clear into fifth place. A movement that sees him five points clear of Patrick Bamford in sixth.

The Leeds forward has a two-point gap over Ilkay Gündogan and although Manchester City had a double gameweek over the past few days, the German international did not help himself to a huge load of points.

Staying in Manchester and Marcus Rashford finds himself in eighth place, as the United forward has an equidistant four-point gap between Gündogan in seventh and Jamie Vardy of Leicester, who sits neatly behind him in ninth.

While rounding out the top 10, is the current highest scoring defender in the game and that is an accolade that once again is bestowed to Aaron Cresswell. As the West Ham left back, currently has 133 points to his name.

Newcastle United have conceded the most goals from counter attacks in the Premier League this season, with 6. Perhaps that is why Steve Bruce seems to be so averse to attack in the first place?

Fábio Silva (Wolverhampton Wanderers) has made the most substitute appearances in the Premier League this season, with 16. As a record signing, he has not lived up to his hefty price tag. Although when you see this, you can perhaps understand why.
