GW22 Stats - New Year, New Data

Premier League GW22 Friday 10th January 2020

It's fair to say that the festive period was rather hectic and although there was more Premier League action that you could ever wish for, was there perhaps just a bit too much? Don't get me wrong, I love football as much as the next person, but even I was tapping out through fatigue come Jan 2nd.

However, after only giving the F.A. Cup a brief glance over the weekend (we don't really do the cup competitions at FPLBet towers) I am pumped and ready to digest another large serving of weekend Premier League action.

While with so much action taking place over the past week or so, it means the numbers have once again been crunched and with that in mind, it's time for everyone's favourite statistical series.

Did You Know?

Liverpool are undefeated in their last 37 matches (Premier League). They face Tottenham on Saturday and should they leave North London unscathed, it will mean that they are unbeaten for the equivalent of a whole Premier League season.

In addition to that, Liverpool have been winning at both half time and full time in their last 7 matches (Premier League). This particular stat, does not bode well for Jose Mourinho and especially now he has to do without his talisman Harry Kane.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 13 of Aston Villa's last 16 games (Premier League). I would imagine with Tom Heaton now out for the rest of the season, that figure will become a lot higher and it could even be added to at the weekend.

That's because, there have been over 2.5 goals scored in 11 of Man City's last 12 games (Premier League). Therefore, an over 2.5 goals bet in Sunday's encounter, looks like being one of the banker bets of the weekend.

Leicester have kept the most clean sheets in the Premier League this season, with 8 and they are a big favourite with FPL managers around the world because of it.

Not only that, Leicester have scored the most goals from counter attacks in the Premier League this season, with 6. See Mr J. Vardy for the recipient of most of those goals.

Talking of counter attacks, Aston Villa have allowed their opponents the most attempts from counter attacks in the Premier League this season, with 20. Perhaps the turn of the year will see Villa become more pragmatic, then again I don't really think it is in their nature to do so.

After his winning strike against Tottenham on New Year's Day, Danny Ings has now scored 52% of Southampton's Premier League goals this season. If the Saints do manage to avoid relegation, then the former Liverpool forward will deserve a huge pat on the back (I mean pay rise)

Newcastle United have made the most clearances per game in the Premier League this season, with 26.43. After losing their last three league outings, it seems as if the Magpies need to concentrate on more than just clearing their lines.

Newcastle United have had the fewest corners per game in the Premier League this season, with 3.33. That makes for pretty bleak reading.

Arsenal have attempted the most through balls per game in the Premier League this season, with 2.48. Who on earth track's a stat like this? What constitutes a through ball and what part of the pitch does it need to take place, for it to be registered? Any ideas?

Norwich have failed to win any of their last eight Premier League outings. The question is whether Daniel Farke knocks on the door of Delia Smith and asks for some money, to be honest she may well feel that the extra expenditure is not worth the risk.

Liverpool have received the fewest yellow cards in the Premier League this season, with 20. Winning the Premier League title and seemingly winning the hearts and minds of football fans up and down the country.

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Sheff Utd's last 5 games (Premier League). Even in defeat, it seems as if Chris Wilder's men are keeping a tight ship and it is one that will keep them in the division next season.
