GW20 Stats - The Top Ten

Premier League GW20 Starts Tuesday 26th January 2021

The never ending gameweek has finally concluded and with it having an element of double bubble attached to it, the match results will have likely caused consternation for those who tried their usual FPL luck.

With so many fixtures in such a tight space of time, the target should have been 100 points and if you managed to achieve such a figure, then you deserve a large pat on the back for your managerial efforts.

However, the question that needs to be asked, is whether you have gone for a short-term fix and only bought in players for a double gameweek, which then hold less value across the next few weeks of the season.

It's a difficult balancing act to navigate and although hitting a century is something to brag about, if it leaves your team in a mess the following week, then now is time to wish that a more long-term strategy was deployed.

The big question is, just how many of the big guns do you have in your squad and the heaviest of that artillery can be found in the list below. A list of the current top 10 players in the fantasy world of football.

It is all change once again and although it is a Tottenham player at the top of the shop, the personnel has changed. For Heung-min Son in the previous gameweek, now read Harry Kane and after scoring against Sheffield United, he commands a two-point lead over Bruno Fernandes in second.

Due to the movement of Fernandes, it means that Son has dropped two places since the end of the previous fixture round and with three points separating the top trio, the race for personal FPL honours in certainly heating up.

While the three of them are pulling away from a goal shy Mohamed Salah and although the Liverpool star netted in the recent F.A. Cup tie against Manchester United, it counts for absolutely nothing in terms of fantasy points.

While nothing, is exactly what you'll get from Jamie Vardy for the next few weeks, as the Leicester talisman has undergone surgery and now this will be a real test to Leicester's hopes of landing another league title.

A league title may be beyond Jack Grealish and Aston Villa, but European football next season is certainly not and if his impressive performances can continue, then the West Midlands outfit will at least keep themselves in the top half.

Patrick Bamford has seen himself overhauled by Grealish, as they swap sixth and seventh places and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has returned from injury and will be looking to build on his current eighth place standing in midweek.

While there is new entry in the top 10 and it is courtesy of Kevin De Bruyne. His recent run of impressive performances have seen him shoot up to ninth, just two points ahead of Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, who is a non-mover.

Did You Know?

Sheff Utd have lost 19 of their last 22 matches (Premier League). What price would you put on that being 20 in midweek. To be honest, the price would be rather short, as they travel to league leaders Manchester United.

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 13 of Man City's last 16 games (Premier League). With such a watertight defence, they are winning by lesser margins and not blowing teams over as before. Then again with John Stones and Ruben Dias at the back, it is a method that is certainly working.

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Southampton's last 6 games (Premier League). Southampton have gone just a little cold as of late and will look for a win in midweek, to revitalise their season.

Patrick Bamford (Leeds) has had the most shots off target from inside the box in the Premier League this season, with 22. But at least Leeds are creating chances and losing in the right way, isn't that what we are all meant to believe?
