GW18 Stats - The Top Ten

Share post on:

Premier League GW18 Starts Tuesday 12th January 2021

With 2020 now firmly behind us, it is time to look to the future and in terms of FPL, the future is now. Because although this upcoming gameweek only has six fixtures instead of the usual 10, this has the potential to be the most important round of the season so far.

Now that several teams are inactive and the threat of a COVID-19 outbreak at Aston Villa looms large, this has the potential to really disrupt your plans and if you've played your ‘Free Hit' too early, you could find yourself in all manner of trouble.

Which begs the question, how do you get out of such a mess? The only option might be to go wild and at least get a full team out. Then again, if your team is doing relatively well, will wholesale change then cause even more issues further down the line?

That is the dilemma that the less shrewd managers will be facing over the next couple of days, while those who have sat tight and weathered any early storms, will now be able to reap the rewards of their patience.

Of course, whichever way you look at it, you are going to want some high scoring players in your team and with that in mind, here is the current top 10 names that you should be looking to call your own.

All change please. The Egyptian King has been dethroned and after Mohamed Salah straddled the top of the pyramid, it is once again time for Hueng min-Son to take back the mantle he feels is rightfully his.

After scoring Tottenham's second and making their third against Leeds, his point haul has seen him move back into first place and not only has he moved back to the highest rung of the ladder, but he has also overtaken Bruno Fernandes in the process.

The Portuguese midfielder previously possessed a single point advantage over Son in second, although that has now become a two-point deficit, as his non-captained haul of 10 points was not enough to keep the South Korean international at bay.

Third place is shared between Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah and while it was a relatively good week for the former, the same cannot be said for the latter, as the Liverpool midfielder (in this game) drew another blank.

Jamie Vardy was firing on all cylinders last Sunday as he scored Leicester's second and in doing so, he at least solidifies fifth place even if the quartet above him, are now beginning to pull clear at the top.

With that said, Vardy has some considerable distance over the only other player to break 100 points at present and with Patrick Bamford having a game to forget at Tottenham, he moves from 99 to 101.

Jack Grealish has moved up to seventh place after laying on an assist at Old Trafford and in doing so, moves ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin who drew a blank for Everton. While Wilfried Zaha and Callum Wilson are non-movers in ninth and tenth place respectively.

Did You Know?

Man Utd have scored at least 2 goals in their last 11 away matches (Premier League). Bad news for Burnley in midweek.

Héctor Bellerín (Arsenal) has received the most yellow cards in the Premier League this season, with 6.

While Yves Bissouma and Tyrone Mings have picked up the most disciplinary points this season with 35 each (5 yellow cards and 1 red each)

Jamie Vardy has the highest xG of the season so far with 11.4. When compared to his 11 goals this season, this means he is underperforming by 0.4. In layman's terms, this means he is pretty much scoring everything that you would expect him to score.

Then again, compared to Mohamed Salah who has 13 goals for the season, his xG is only 8.9 by comparison. Which means when the Egyptian does find the net, he is scoring far more difficult chances.
