Matchday 5 Preview - Liverpool to Maintain Perfect Record

Share post on:

LIVERPOOL VS NEWCASTLE

Liverpool went into the international break as table toppers and after winning all of their first four Premier League outings, they are only the team in the division to still have a perfect one-hundred percent record.

This weekend they play host to a Newcastle side who have picked up four points from the last six on offer and that includes an away win at Tottenham, could another shock be on the cards? To be honest, I don't think it will.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle

MANCHESTER UNITED VS LEICESTER

Manchester United have not won a Premier League fixture since the opening weekend and they need to find the ignition spark soon, otherwise the pressure will begin to mount on the shoulders of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

This Saturday the Red Devils will play host to a Leicester side who are currently undefeated this season and it seems as if the old Jamie Vardy is back and in full attacking swing.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Leicester

BRIGHTON VS BURNLEY

After a bright opening fortnight for Brighton, manager Graham Potter will have been bought back down to earth in the Seagulls last two offerings and after back to back defeats, he will be hoping that the Seagulls have a reversal of fortune this weekend.

They play host to a Burnley side who were soundly beaten by Liverpool in their last league outing, although it's not necessarily a result that is going to define their season in any way.

Prediction: Brighton 2-1 Burnley

SHEFFIELD UNITED VS SOUTHAMPTON

Chris Wilder's men have given a good account of themselves so far and this was no less evident than at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago, as the Blades came from 2-0 nil down to earn what must be considered a highly unlikely point.

They play host to a Southampton side who also picked up a point against more notable opposition and after holding Manchester United, the Saints will look to continue their momentum this Saturday.

Prediction: Sheffield United 1-0 Southampton

TOTTENHAM VS CRYSTAL PALACE

Tottenham looked much better in the recent North London derby and that will give Mauricio Pochettino optimism that his players can return to winning ways this Saturday, in what should be an entertaining local derby.

Providing the opposition from the capital is Crystal Palace and after winning back to back league matches, Roy Hodgson will be hoping that more points can be added to the board this weekend.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Crystal Palace

WOLVES VS CHELSEA

It's been a tough start for Wolves as they are yet to win a Premier League fixture this season and although four outings have produced three draws thus far, it is fair to say that a win would be welcomed by Nuno Espirito Santo.

This Saturday sees them play host to a Chelsea side that will be licking their wounds after throwing away a 2-0 lead last time out and Frank Lampard knows that naivety like this cannot continue long term.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Chelsea

NORWICH VS MANCHESTER CITY

Teemu Pukki and Raheem Sterling may not have extended their goal scoring streaks to four games, but they will be primed and ready to add to their respective tallies as Norwich play host to Manchester City on Saturday.

Norwich have been rather porous in defence and therefore Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly be licking his lips at the prospect of another large goal haul on the horizon.

Prediction: Norwich 1-3 Manchester City

BOURNEMOUTH VS EVERTON

Bournemouth have lost their last two league outings and manager Eddie Howe will be hoping that the Cherries are not plucked this Sunday, when an in form Everton make the long journey down to the Vitality Stadium.

The Toffees came out on top in a five-goal thriller against Wolves in their last outing and if Richarlison can deliver the goals again, they will be well placed to earn maximum points on the road.

Prediction: Bournemouth 0-2 Everton

WATFORD VS ARSENAL

The old Watford manager is now the new Watford manager and Hornets fans will be hoping that Quique Sanchez Flores can provide something of a lift, to what has been a rather lacklustre team thus far.

The new Watford boss goes up against compatriot Unai Emery in his first game in charge since his return and the Gunners will look to win their first league game in three attempts on Sunday.

Prediction: Watford 1-2 Arsenal.

ASTON VILLA VS WEST HAM

Aston Villa were denied an equaliser against Crystal Palace in the most dramatic of circumstances and after having more than a fortnight to deal with their frustration, they will look for better fortunes against West Ham on Monday.

The Hammers are now unbeaten since their opening wekeend mauling by Manchester City and the East London outfit will be confident of picking up another positive away result.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-2 West Ham
