Gameweek 15 Fixture Preview

Share post on:
By PaulT Hi guys, back so soon? The quick turnaround from the weekend to the midweek fixtures means that we don't have time to reflect much on what was a poor scoring week for many in the FPL. I'm still reeling from the lack of Aguero myself but that another tale for another time. Let's have a look at what we have in store…

AFC Bournemouth v Huddersfield Town

The games begin on Tuesday evening and at The Vitality we have 2 side coming off losses at the weekend. Bournemouth made a fist of it at the Etihad and Wilson had levelled just before half time. Despite losing out eventually, they will take heart from that 1st 45mins and hope to get back t winning ways against a Huddersfield side who will be without their 1st choice striker. Mounie's red card midway through the 1st half took the wind out their sails after taking an early lead, and they were ultimately beaten. For the home side, Lerma is back from suspension and could replace Andrew Surman in the midfield from the side that lost at City and Howe could bring Brooks and Stanislas into the XI to keep his squad fresh. The Terriers are already without Mounie also have a doubt over Pritchard who sustained a knock in the defeat. Their respective unavailability means Depoitre and Williams should both start, with Mooy pushed into a more advanced role. Prediction BOU 2-1 HUD

Brighton & Hove Albion v Crystal Palace

At the Amex, Hodgson brings his Palace side to the south coast in good confidence having won well last time out but will be facing a Brighton side also happy after a weekend win. The Seagulls took full advantage of play 10 men and will be looking to get another vital 3 points on Tuesday. Duffy scored his 3rd goal of the season and he showed again what a vital man he is for his side at both ends of the park. Murray was only fit enough to come on as a substitute and should start here despite the fact Andone scored. The Eagles were flying on Saturday and picked up a good win at home to Burnley. That was their 1sr home victory of the season saw them end a run of eight league games without a win and move up three places to 14th. Townsend was on top form and his 14 point FPL haul was one of the weeks high scores. Hodgson may resist the urge to make changes to his starting XI despite the fact this is their second game in the space of four days. A fixture that has an edge to it and despite the distance between the sides is usually played out like a derby, so anything could happen. Prediction BHA 1-1 CRY

West Ham United v Cardiff City

The Hammers return home after a resounding win over Newcastle on Saturday, West Ham will be confident of following that up with another three points here. It was a fabulous counter attacking display, with the 3 goals coming from only 4 shots on target. They face a Cardiff side who also won at the weekend. Warnocks men have been in good form, winning three of their last four, but on the road, they have picked up just one point of 18 available. Pellegrini will be reluctant to make wholesale changes after such an impressive display at Newcastle, but Cresswell is a doubt after taking a knock. Hernandez grabbed 2 goals but was eclipsed by his fellow scorer Felipe Anderson who showed his undoubted quality and class throughout. Cardiff's comeback win at home to Wolves was capped off by a superb winning goal from Hoilett and the wide man will be key again here if the Welsh side are to get any thing back over the Bridge. Prediction WHU 3-1 CAR

Watford v Manchester City

The last game on Tuesday see the Champions rock up to Vicarage Road looking to maintain their undefeated start to the league season against a Watford side who appear to be in freefall. Gracia's men have just two wins to their name from their last 10 games and face a City side that have won their last eight meetings with Watford, and have scored 11 goals in their last two visits to Vicarage Road. The Hornets could make a couple of changes to the side that lost at the weekend, with Deeney, Kabasele and Masina among those who could come in whilst Capoue is suspended. Delph, Stones, Walker and Silva could all come into the XI that featured from the off against Bournemouth, while Mahrez will also be pushing for a start. Aguero is expected to miss out again. Prediction WAT 1-4 MNC

Burnley v Liverpool

Wednesdays fixtures kick off at Turf Moor, and sees Klopp's men come to Burnley still buzzing from the late late win over Everton in the Merseyside derby. With a home side bereft of confidence and whose manager saying that they need to rediscover their “eye of the Tiger”, this on paper looks like an easy win for the title chasing Reds. Burnley are winless in their last seven matches and have only won one Premier League home match all season. Tarkowski was fit enough to make the bench against Palace and Dyche may use the England international from the start here. Vokes and Barnes will push for starts if Dyche opts to freshen things up. Liverpool got the win but were unimpressive against the blue half of the city. Firmino looked tired and is likely to be rested here. Sturridge and Origi ended the game on Sunday, and have a chance of being involved from the start here. Henderson also returns from suspension and the captain should start. Prediction BUR 0-2 LIV

Everton v Newcastle United

At Goodison, we have a clash between 2 sides that have been in good form but both suffered losses at the weekend. Everton were unlucky not to take anything back over Stanley Park on Sunday but a howler from Pickford ultimately cost them. They will take encouragement from what was their best derby performance for a few years, but will want to get back to winning ways. Silva has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match, but Walcott limped off to be replaced by Lookman so a change may be seen here. In the away dugout, Rafa will hope that Saturdays 3-0 loss to West Ham was a blip and that his side can return to the form that saw them win their 3 games prior to that one. Ritchie serves a one-match ban for Newcastle after collecting his fifth yellow card of the season last time out. Expect Murphy to deputise here, and Shelvey should be restored to the starting XI after coming on as a substitute on Saturday. Prediction EVE 2-1 NEW

Fulham v Leicester City

At the Cottage, Ranieri welcomes his old side to his new one as the home side look to put a derby defeat behind them after their 2-0 reverse at Chelsea. The Tinkerman faces Leicester for the first time since the Foxes sacked him in February 2017 and whilst he should expect a great reception from the stands, on the park you would expect a difficult 90 mins here for the men in White. Schürrle missed the weekend through injury and remains a doubt for the Cottagers. Anguissa returned to training at the end of last week and could feature. For the Foxes, they will look to build on a solid 2-0 win over Watford and in an ideal world would not change much. However, fatigue could play a part here given the sharp turnaround between games. Their 6 game unbeaten run should continue in a fixture that has 17 goals in the last 3 played. Prediction FUL 1-3 LEI

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Chelsea

Molyneux plays host to another of the big gun as Chelsea come to town looking to build on their derby day win over Fulham. Wolves early season promise is starting to crumble around them and as the weeks go past, things seem to be getting tougher and tougher for them. The loss at Cardiff meant they have picked up just one point from the last 18 available, and although they still sit seven points clear of the drop zone, they need to start picking up points once more sooner rather than later. Jonny again misses out for Wolves, with the Spaniard ruled out through injury, while Ruben Neves is suspended due to an accumulation of bookings. Sarri will expect his men to win here, but they were pretty uninspiring in winning their derby. Many FPL players are questioning Hazard's inclusion in their teams after a dip in form recently but the Belgian will likely come good soon enough. Expect the likes of Giroud and Pedro to be rotated with Morata and Willian respectively. Prediction WOL 1-2 CHE

Manchester United v Arsenal

To Old Trafford, where the meeting of the 2 most successful sides in PL history is one that always stirs up memories from the epic battles of the past. Both sides mounted comebacks at the weekend, but United will still be disappointed dropping points to lowly Southampton. The 2-2 draw at St Mary's was not a classic, but the finishes from Lukaku and Herrera showed the Red Devils have the quality when the players can be motivated to perform. Jose was forced to play Matic and McTominay at centre back, so will hope that he has some fit defenders here to combat the on fire Gunners frontline. The 2 goal display from Aubameyang in the Derby win showed the strikers talents to the full, and he will look to continue that here. Xhaka is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the campaign and should see Guendouzi or Ramsey fill in. Prediction MNU1-1 ARS

Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton

Finally at Wembley, Spurs will hope to lift themselves from a chasing in the North London Derby with the visit of the now managerless Saints. Poch comes up against his old side, but will not likely show any mercy here as Spurs need to bounce back quickly. The 2-1 halftime scoreline flattered Spurs at the Emirates and in the end they were lucky to escape with the 4-2 in the end. Vertonghen is suspended after his sending off with Alderweireld set to come in. The likes of Lamela, Moura and Winks could start s Spurs look for fresh ideas. With Hughes departure it is hard to know how Southampton will line up here. Lemina is suspended due to an accumulation of bookings, with Davis and Romeu battling it out to deputise in midfield. Gabbiadini and Charlie Austin may both come into the side to give attacking options. Prediction TOT 3-0 SOU Well that was a whistle stop tour round the games, and there should be plenty of talking points going into the weekend.
