Betting Preview:

A lot of the talk around Chelsea right now is circling around the return-to-form play of their stars, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa. But it's easy to forget how good the team is playing top to bottom. It's no accident that Chelsea now find themselves only a point down from the top of the table, and that's due to the level of play of the entire team, not just the couple of guys you might look at for your fantasy squads. Just look at Chelsea's home record this year: outside of a loss to a very good Liverpool side early on, Chelsea have managed to win all of their other four home matches, and three of those were shutout victories (3-0 vs Burnley, 3-0 vs Leicester and 4-0 vs Man United). In fact, when you factor in their last two victories on the road (both 2-0 wins against Hull and Southampton), you see that Chelsea didn't allow a goal against them over the entire month of October - and that's not solely from the play of Hazard and Costa, the team is just playing on an elite level right now. Now, Everton are no pushovers themselves. The coaching change in the offseason has done exactly what it was supposed to do - it pushed them from the middle of the table to a respectable 6th place at this stage of the year. The goal for Everton this season wasn't to try to win the league, but rather stay in a decent position where European qualification would still at least be possible as the year winds down. And in that sense, this game has a bit more definition before the ball is even kicked off: Everton are trying to maintain status quo, Chelsea are trying to exceed expectations. And as a result of this mentality, Everton haven't been spectacular in these last several weeks. They won their last match at home against West Ham, but that was their first win since September 17th, a match that they won against Middlesbrough. So in a game such as this, Chelsea will be looking to rely on their team play to keep their momentum going - Everton will need a huge performance from their star players, Barkley and Lukaku, if they are going to challenge for points.

Match Prediction:

We just can't look past Chelsea here in this match. They have the goods, and they have home advantage. Lukaku is in dangerous form right now, so there's a good chance that Chelsea's shutout streak comes to an end - but the statistics are saying that Chelsea will still come out with the 3 points this week.
