Quarter Final Tips - Women's World Cup - Daily Fantasy Football Tips

Share post on:
Germany vs. France 9:00pm (Friday) China PR vs. USA 12:30am (Saturday) We were not surprised that Germany and France breezed their way into the quarterfinals, both winning by a three-goal margin. It is however a shame that two sides of such quality, with a strong potential of winning the competition, have to meet this early in the knockout rounds. On the other hand, we've now got a potential ‘game of the tournament' just around the corner.. The second fixture is between China PR and the ever-present USA. China edged through with a 1-0 win vs. Cameroon, while the USA brushed aside Colombia in a much-improved second half display. China PR will be the underdogs despite the fact that the USA appear to be stuck in second gear so far. The occasion and lack of squad rotation might get the better of China, but they will not be a walkover. Now onto some daily fantasy football player tips to help you construct your own Mondogoal team. We recommend backing the USA in this round (choose 4 players) and then work around this.

GOALKEEPER TIPS

Hope Solo (12.8m) vs. China PR As we stated above, we are backing the USA, so it makes sense to include their keeper. With a clean sheet in each of her last 3 appearances and the other contest between Germany and France looking unpredictable, we think that Hope Solo is the best choice. China PR will struggle to find the net once, let alone twice. Don't expect too many save points nevertheless.

DEFENDER TIPS

Julie Johnston (7.8m) vs. China PR Pairing Hope Solo with Johnston might be a wise decision to make the most of the strong USA backline. We have been very impressed by her so far in the tournament. Johnston is reliable in possession and a clean tackler with 3 fouls suffered and 1 conceded. An ever-present player in the USA back 4 and with Holiday's suspension there is a slight chance that she will be shifted forward to play beside Carli Lloyd in midfield. Becky Sauerbrunn (7.3m) vs. China PR It is uncommon that we would recommend tripling up on a single teams defensive line, but we feel this is a great opportunity, taking into consideration the two fixtures. It was a toss up between Kreiger and Sauerbrunn, but we have decided to go with the latter. One reason for this is because the agile Han Peng will be marking Kreiger and will most likely give her a tough time. While the foul prone Wang Lisi (5 conceded, 0 suffered) will be up against Sauerbrunn, so a favourable situation. Lena Goeßling (7.2m) vs. France Goeßling is our go to ‘out of position' defender and even against tough opposition we will continue to include her. She is extremely consistent at sitting in front of the back four and tidying up play. Her previous scores of 7, 10, 8, 10 are top class for a defender. Goeßling as we predicted picked up a clean sheet, as well as an assist vs. Sweden and is starting to become our regular number 1 defender pick.

MIDFIELDER TIPS

Dzsenifer Marozsan (9.4m) vs. France Marozsan will be a popular pick tonight due to her shoot on sight style. Featuring from the bench vs. Sweden and with a score of 13.5 it really showcases her talent. She will not get the same opportunity and space vs. a disciplined France side, but she can still make things happen. She will play alongside our other pick Goeßling, but will be given license to bomb forward and spread the play. Louisa Necib (10.1m) vs. Germany It is no secret that Necib has not reached the heights she was hoping for in the tournament so far. However her performance vs. Korea Republic was much improved and was a reminder of what she's capable of. Necib played more minutes than any of her teammates throughout qualifying and scored 4 goals. If she can revive this form, it will give France a huge kick-start towards overcoming Germany. Han Peng (3.5m) vs. USA The differential pick for tonight is China's Han Peng. We were yet again tempted to go for the most popular China player Wang Shanshan (the CF who is classed as a defender). The reason behind opting for Han Peng instead is because we find it hard to see China scoring. As a defender Shanshan will not pick up points for shots on target and Han Peng will. Hang Peng rarely becomes isolated, as she drifts in from left wing, she makes a lot of passes (109) and also has been fouled 12 times. China PR's most influential player in their previous fixture. Celia Sasic (12.6m) vs. France To complete our midfield we have selected Celia Sasic. Sasic has been hit or miss throughout the tournament thus far, but has recently flourished in the form of a brace vs. Sweden. She's had an impressive 10 shots on target this tournament and has scored 20+ points twice on Mondogoal in this tournament alone. From her zealous celebrations you can tell that this competition means everything to her and she will be fired up to make the difference. Get Sasic on your side.

STRIKER TIPS

Alexandra Popp (6.2m) vs. France One of the gambles for our team is the fact that the tournaments leading scorer, Mittag, does not feature. There is a reason behind this. We expect Popp to be more involved in build up play and also Mittag will be limited to fewer opportunities against two top quality and intelligent centre-backs in Renard + Georges. Popp has played 60 minutes less than Mittag, but has suffered 11 fouls to Mittag's 8. A goal from a set piece might determine the match and we would have our money on the powerful forward to, excuse the pun, Popp one in. Alex Morgan (13.4m) vs. China PR Morgan is the player who gets the most media attention in Women's football and with her completing 90 minutes on Monday, expect her to have a high ownership. As said before, we are backing USA as the strong favourites in this match, so who better to have on your team than their top striker. Morgan looked sharp vs. Colombia and will now feel even more confident due to the fact she got on the score sheet. A must have, who is in position to push her side into the semi-finals. Eugenie Le Sommer (8.6m) vs. Germany Similar to Goeßling, Le Sommer has performed on our Mondogoal side consistently. She is involved in the majority of things France do well and has a well-rounded skill set. Germany's centre-back pairing is not the most mobile and Le Sommer has the acceleration and ball control to exploit this. She's also not afraid to strike from distance, as she proved with her winning goal vs. England. The only small niggle we can include with picking Le Sommer is that she is often subbed off around the 70 minute mark. Hopefully she will do the business early on.
