Welcome back to our second round of Champions League tips, this time NaturalFootballFan provides you with the run through of Wednesday's fixtures and his tips.
Again our partners at
Mondogoal are hosting some fantastic tournaments. The standout contest in their line-up, with a mere £3 entry fee, is the
‘£3000 Shootout'. It sees the outright winner take home £500 while offering cash prizes for the top 200 competitors. To back up the headline act is the
‘£2500 Striker'. This tournament may appeal to the more serious DFF player with its £55 entry fee; however this hefty buy-in is compensated with the £600 top prize and the fact there are 900 fewer entrants than in the shootout.
So now we get down to business, here are the fixtures and our recommendations.

Goalkeeper Tips
First things first, the two outright favourites to secure cleansheets tonight are Barcelona and FC Porto. For this reason, we advise selecting a keeper from one of these sides.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (8.1m) will be rotated into the side for European duty and with his side keeping a cleansheet in each of their last 3 meetings against BATE; he appears a reliable choice for
Mondogoal. Borisov come into the match with high spirits having been crowned Belarus league champions for the 10th consecutive season at the weekend, nevertheless, they have lost their last 6 away fixtures in the Champions League.
For FC Porto is a goalkeeper who was part of ‘The Galactico' era and an ex-rival of Barcelona;
Iker Casillas (8.8m). The Spanish veteran slotted straight into the Portuguese outfits starting XI upon his arrival and has held the number 1 spot ever since. FC Porto welcomed Maccabi Tel Aviv to the Estadio do Dragao a fortnight ago and, on the most part, dominated the match with 60% possession, 16 shots and 576 passes. Our pick Casillas also bagged a cleansheet and 8.8 points on
Mondogoal. Porto are undefeated in 14 of their last 15 Champions League matches and should win with ease to extend their lead at the top of Group G.
Defender Tips
Sticking with the FC Porto backline to double-up with Casillas could prove a worthy decision. If the number of players per team was unlimited on
Mondogoal we would most likely utilize a trio, however, we guide you to use the other 2 Porto slots for Midfield/Forward. Enough chat… we were very impressed with the display of
Miguel Layun (8.2m) during the first encounter with Maccabi; his assist combined with a vast array of interception, tackle and pass points contributed to his total of 12.91 points on
Mondogoal. FC Porto play with a relatively narrow centre midfield three, so the likes of Layun and
Maxi Pereira (9.2m), who is another solid pick, are given licence to bomb forward and join in on attacks. The former managed a notable 11.4 points a fortnight ago, without an assist; this was largely a memento to his industrious work ethic and tenacity to make tackles. Pereira also attempts 2.7 dribbles per game, which is very high for a defender.
Again staying put, with the Barcelona defence this time, we recommend another pair of fullbacks. The hosts achieved 70% possession vs. BATE on the road, so expect upwards of 75% this time out, which is great news for Luis Enrique's marauding duo of
Jordi Alba (10m) and
Dani Alves (9.5m). The former has picked up an average of 8.2 points on
Mondogoal during his last three fixtures, while the latter fares just as respectively with 7.6 points during the same fixtures. All in all they offer a more advanced attacking option than any other defenders in this slate, they will rack up passing points and we would not be surprised in the slightest if one or even both of the fullbacks grab an assist.
If you are on a tight budget or want to free up some cash to include the likes of Neymar or Suarez, then
Alberto Botia (5.2m) is the best bargain buy. Olympiakos are a strong outfit at home and have earned the 3rd spot on our cleansheet potential ranking after shipping just a single goal in their last 5 matches in all competitions. It comes as a surprise to many when you see Olympiakos on the same points as Bayern Munich at the top of Group F, but take nothing away from ‘The Reds' as they have deserved to be rewarded for their ‘build from the back' style. The Spanish centre-back has demonstrated his scoring ability in the last month with 3 goals in his last 4 appearances. One negative point worth noting is that Botia has history of becoming a 'card magnet', with 66 since 2009. In our eyes, it's a gamble worth taking, but remember it's YOUR decision at the end of the day.

Midfielder Tips
Looking at Porto for a third time we believe
Andre Andre (9.4m) is your most lucrative option in their midfield… some say he's that good they named him twice! With teammate Brahimi sidelined with a hamstring complaint, Andre will be relied upon to create and play off and around Aboubakar. Tonight he is so appealing on
Mondogoal, not just because of the fixture, but also the fact that he attempts an average of 3.3 dribbles per game and to add to his point's source, Andre is a ‘foul magnet', winning 3.3 per game. Likely to fill the gap left by Brahimi on the left wing the Brazilian will come up against the likes of Ben Haim, who is a few yards of the pace nowadays at 33 years old. Another great alternative in the Porto midfield and a lot lighter on the bank is
Danilo Pereira (5.3m). With Andre being deployed in a more advanced role, Pereira will fill the void as one the midfield three. The 24-year-old has an eye for goal and will be given slightly more freedom than Neves and Imbula to bomb forward, so fingers crossed he executes the few chances that come his way.
Next up in the midfield is Bayern Munich's ball carrier
Thiago Alcantara (11.8m). Bayern Munich, despite been defeated 2-nil at the Emirates, controlled the tempo of the game and made 767 passes to Arsenal's 278. More of the same is predicted at the Allianz tonight and with Thiago pulling the strings in centre midfield he could be in for a big night. Pep Guardiola's unorthodox 3-4-3 formation allows the trequartista, Thiago, to move around the park and find the space as soon as it becomes available. The probable outcome is that he will leave the field having made more touches and completed more passes than anyone on the pitch, except perhaps Philip Lahm. This is important on
Mondogoal as 0.05 points is awarded for each pass completed. Alcantara is without doubt one of the most talented midfielders in world football and had it not been for Petr Cech's master class throughout the first tie, he also would have had his name on the scoresheet.
In Daily Fantasy Football FORM is often an underestimated subject. In our opinion, it is paramount that you pluck out the players who are high in confidence. One of these players is Barcelona's
Sergi Roberto (7.9m). The ‘La Masia' graduate picked up 2 assists at the weekend and will be ready to fire on all cylinders tonight. Valued at a relatively fair price for the past few weeks, a large amount of
Mondogoal managers picked him up for the first encounter vs. BATE, only to see him withdrawn after 18 minutes through injury. This was extremely frustrating and backs up people's demand for ‘Late Swap' selection. Be sure to check the line-ups before choosing Roberto, as with Iniesta's return imminent, there is a chance he could be dropped.
Forward Tips
It's hard to look beyond
Luis Suarez (17m) and
Neymar (17m) on
Mondogoal tonight. Both will have a high ownership and if you decide to fade them, there's a high probability that you'll be left stranded. The former has rediscovered his scoring touch, finding the back of the net 4 times in his last 2 fixtures, while the latter has turned provider with 5 assists in his last 4 fixtures. We all know that if Barca show up with their A-game, they will score 3,4,5 goals against any side and after a withdrawn display, a fortnight ago, in which they managed 2 vs. BATE; we feel rather scared for the visitors forthcomings. Surely Neymar is within touching distance of competing for the Ballon D'or this year; the stage is set, it's time for him to show us what Ronaldo failed to do last night.
Our second recommendation for your frontline is Porto's number 9
Vincent Aboubakar (9.8m). The powerful forward has recorded 3 goals in the same number of Champions League appearances this season. His averages are top class in the competition; he shoots on sight with 3.7 shots per game, links play superbly with 2 key passes per game and also attempts 3 dribbles per game - which is impressive for a man of his physical stature. The Cameroon International seemed to enjoy this fixture last time out, with a goal and an assist, and we are predicting 10 points, at the very least, from Aboubakar tonight.
We have decided to chuck in a curveball for our final
Mondogoal tip of the day in 19-year-old
Zakaria Bakkali (5.5m). Valencia brushed aside Levante with a 3-nil win at the weekend, with the Belgian Under 21 forward making an instant impact from the bench to put away the third. Piatti is his competition for the left wing role; however, the little Spaniard has performed poorly over the past few weeks, so Bakkali looks set to start from the off. A brilliant differential and a fantastic opportunity for the teenager to show his worth and what better way is there to get your name in the headlines, than scoring in the Champions League.
