A Month Until The Daily Fantasy Football Championships

Share post on:
Gameweek 38 is now just one month away, and whilst this marks the end of the Premier League season, it also sets the stage for some of the biggest daily fantasy football contests of all time. Do you want to end the 2015/16 Fantasy Premier League campaign in high spirits, by taking home some serious cash prizes? Well our partners at Mondogoal and FantasyBet have provided the perfect opportunity to do so, with their most lucrative contests to date. After hosting a very successful 30k Championship in 2015, Mondogoal have upped their game and numbers by announcing the 50k Championship earlier this year. The winning manager, who will be hailed the ‘World Champion' of daily fantasy football, pockets a whopping £15,000, and even 50th place will cash in on a decent £350. FantasyBet have more recently announced that they're hosting a £5,000 Grand Finale contest, in which the victor banks on upwards of £1,500 dependent on the number of entries. This is new territory for the site and will prove a hit with FPL players, as they utilise an almost identical scoring system to the season-long game. It's possible to win yourself entry to both of these contests by participating in qualifier contests for as little as £2. It's also possible to buy yourself entry to the Championships, a ticket to Mondogoal's costs £220 (only available if there's spare slots - 250 maximum entries), whereas FantasyBet's buy-in is very fair at just £33.

Entry limit: 250 Ticket Worth: £220 Payout: Top 50 For more info click here. This is no doubt the contest that all the daily fantasy football sharks have their eyes on, and rightly so with such a profitable prize pool. Buy-in is a steep £220, but there's still roughly 100 tickets to be won from qualifiers over the next month, so there's still a chance to pick one up for a reduced price. Mondogoal currently host a range of qualifiers for Premier League, Champions League and Europa League where the winner receives an entry ticket - the more you're willing to pay to buy-in, the less opposition you face. Mondogoal Finalist Tips First of all, you have to be persistent. There's no point in getting worked up when you fail in £2 or £5 contests, against a whole host of experienced players. This isn't to say that you shouldn't try your luck, but the way you approach them is pivotal. From experience, my biggest tip in largely participated ticket qualifiers is ‘don't complicate things'. You might think by fading the big names time and time again, the likes of Ronaldo, Messi & Suarez in the CL and Aguero, Payet and Mahrez in the PL, it will only be a matter of time before you strike it lucky. When the matter of fact is you're digging yourself a hole - I always say trust your gut, and if your instincts aren't directing you towards these types of players… maybe this Championship isn't your forte. However, there's something even more important than matching your competition with the obvious names, and that's rounding off your squad with productive budget differentials. Many turn a blind eye on these players, but they will make or break your chances of coming out on top - no matter how tasking it feels to read up and decide on them. For example, in the last few gameweeks, instead of prioritising my research on the likes of Payet (everyone knows his quality), I've been keeping a close eye on his somewhat lesser, cheaper and less owned counterparts, with Lanzini playing a major role in my latest successes. - @NaturalFootyFan (9 entry tickets) As a player who has been through the frustration of finishing second in THREE, yes three, of the £2 qualifiers with scores upward of 120 pts, I'd go as far as calling the £2 entry a lottery. If you're serious about qualifying, I'd argue that one entry to the £10 grants you significantly more chance of winning a ticket than five entries into the £2. Keep in mind the basics of daily fantasy football strategy, don't be afraid to make a few gambles and you will always have a strong chance against 24 people. Be sure to block other managers by selecting the players you think will have high ownership, stack your defences (4x1 or 2x2) and take a punt on a few differentials to give you the edge (thanks Mitrovic!). - @jamieFPL (3 entry tickets)

FantasyBet £5k Grand Finale

Entry limit: N/A Ticket Worth: £33 Payout: Progressive For more info click here. There is no entry limit on the Grand Finale contest which means the prize pot could rise from £5,000 depending on the entry numbers, or hold some substantial overlay if less than 166 players buy-in. It's likely this tournament will have less than 250 players, which means you stand a higher chance of finishing amongst the money. FantasyBet, unlike Mondogoal, also has the option to select a captain which adds a whole new dimension of luck and skill to the game. Having a few tickets for each of the Gameweek 38 contests will ensure you a good chance of placing with one of your teams across both sites. FantasyBet Tips The Grand Finale is still a fresh announcement in comparison to the 50k Championship, so my best advice would be to get involved with the qualifiers before everybody finds out about them. Last night I competed in a £3 entry against just 16 people - mid-week daily fantasy tends to get slightly less numbers - and I only just fell short due to Atletico Madrid's clean sheet. Several of FantasyBet's contests span over the entire gameweek and when this is the case we usually find that players featuring in the following days have lesser ownership. This is where you'll find your differentials, but make sure you're thorough in only selecting players who will 100% feature, as there's no option to late swap. - @jamieFPL As we mentioned beforehand, the scoring system on FantasyBet is very rigid, similar to FPL, so when selecting your goalkeeper and defenders, keep in mind that clean sheets are about as good as it gets - so base your picks around this. In contrast to Mondogoal, no additional points are awarded for in-play performance (barring goals, assists & bonus points), so be sure to make use of the bookies odds to gauge clean sheet potential. Moving onto the midfield, I've always found it's of utmost importance on FantasyBet, more than most sites, to select players who show an eye for goal. For example, on Mondogoal David Silva provides a great option as he racks up endless open play points (passing, winning fouls etc.), but on FantasyBet the points scoring is strict, so Kevin De Bruyne is the must-have candidate, as he is more likely to find the net. Another way to gain an advantage is by sourcing ‘Out of Position' players. There are a few very advanced forwards, who are classified as midfielders on FantasyBet - Alexis Sanchez, Marko Arnautovic and Roberto Firmino all come to mind. Forwards are given just 4 points for a goal, while midfielders are handed 5 points, so it's clear to see the benefits of this strategy. - @NaturalFootyFan
