Last week the algorithm could have won you hundreds playing fantasy football.
Our partners at Bet4theBest allow you to create a budget-free Premier League team every gameweek. This allows you to pick players who are often ignored in the season-long fantasy game and also stack teams who are favourites to keep a clean sheet or score the most goals.
In Gameweek 25, our very own daily fantasy football betting expert JamieFPL made use of these techniques by gaining a statistical advantage from our algorithm.
Below is last weeks
algorithm, along with JamieFPL's winning team. As you can see he used the algorithm to underline which clubs were worth backing or stacking in offensive or defensive areas and then based his selections around this:

How to use the algorithm to build your defence
As you can see from the chart, Man United and Arsenal were the firm favourites for a clean sheet in gameweek 25, so JamieFPL selected Cech and Mustafi for Arsenal coverage, while Smalling and Valencia were chosen for United coverage.
Our algorithm proved successful as both clubs, and subsequently all four players, securing a clean sheet. This provided a solid base of 21pts.
How to use the algorithm to build your attack
In terms of attacking potential, Arsenal followed by Man City and Man United were the top three candidates, so JamieFPL's attack was filled with two players from each team.
Sanchez and Walcott were his Arsenal picks with the former hitting a brace to secure 14pts between them.
Aguero and De Bruyne were obvious choices from Man City with 6pts between them.
Mkhitaryan and Mata completed the six with a total of 11pts between them thanks to the latter's goal.
How to use the algorithm to fill in the gaps
With all four Man United and Arsenal spaces filled, JamieFPL decided to use his last free spot for an attacking differential, so he once again turned to the algorithm for the final piece of his puzzle.
Stoke City were ranked fourth for goals expected in gameweek 25, so he opted for Joe Allen in midfield. The Welshman has been a regular scorer this season and delivered the goods with the only goal of the game and 8pts in Bet4theBest.
How to use the algorithm to choose a captain
However, the thing which clinched the top spot was JamieFPL's decision to hand Sanchez the captain's armband. This was influenced once more by the algorithm.
Arsenal were the number one candidates on the attacking front, with almost three goals expected, so he remained faithful to these findings and Arsenal's top scorer.
