Cleansheet Potential

  1. Paris Saint-Germain
  2. Nantes
  3. Lille
  4. Saint-Etienne
  5. Caen

Goalkeeper Tips

Saturday: There are a couple of great options in the goalkeeper department for Saturday. The first of these is Kevin Trapp (11.1m), he is the most expensive keeper on show, but is just about guaranteed to secure a cleansheet. Top of the table meets bottom PSG are undefeated at home in 26 Ligue 1 matches, while Troyes have failed to win, in all competitions, since the 10th of July. Our second and cheaper option on Mondogoal is Remy Riou (7.3m). Unlike Trapp, the Nantes stopper will not burn a hole in your budget. Riou has picked up 6 cleansheets this season and has conceded fewer than 2.5 goals in 11 of his last 13 matches against today's opposition, SC Bastia. He offers a great alternative, especially if you are planning on packing your outfield slots with PSG players. Sunday: The standout pick, in the nets for Sunday is Stephane Ruffier (7.3m). Saint-Etienne have shut out Guingamp in 3 of their last 4 meetings and will be desperate to do so again, with the top 4 in their sights. Ruffier has always been a reliable individual and has been a constant, in every minute of every game, for Saint-Etienne this season. Coming in at a very respectable 7.3m, he could prove popular on Mondogoal.

Defender Tips

Saturday: It will come as no surprise that we recommend a defender from the Champions backline. Layvin Kurzawa (11m) is tipped to start ahead of Maxwell in the left back slot, as Laurent Blanc plans to rotate following midweek Champions League action. Kurzawa is always eager to help out offensively, as he did with Monaco last season, and finds himself in dangerous attacking positions frequently. The Frenchman has 7 goals and 7 assists in just 65 Ligue 1 appearances since 2010. However, Kurzawa is also adept defensively; making an average of 3.7 tackles and 2.7 interceptions this season. Putting this all together, the youngster offers a ‘high floor' on Mondogoal and with a great chance of a cleansheet; Kurzawa should reach a double-figure total, without breaking a sweat.  Sunday: Our recommendation for Sunday is identical to last week. Caen's number 11 Vincent Bessat (6.7m) continues to play on the left wing of a front three, so we will continue picking him. Plucking out ‘out of position' players on Mondogoal is, in the most part, a fool proof strategy; in that they pick up tackle and interception points as if a defender, with the additional bonus of playing in a much more advanced position. Bessat was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet last week; nonetheless, he still managed to rack up 7.63 points on Mondogoal. Yes, Caen are playing away from home, but they have been very strong on the road, as of late, scoring 4 and conceding 1 in their last 3 away matches. We fancy them to upturn a Bordeaux side, who have had just 2 days rest following their Europa League loss against Liverpool. Hopefully, Bessat can contribute at both ends of the park.

Attacking Potential

  1. Paris Saint-Germain
  2. Lorient
  3. Nice
  4. Nantes
  5. Marseille

Midfielder Tips

Saturday: Moving swiftly onto the midfield tips and our first choice for Saturday is Lucas Moura (9.3m)… if he starts. We cannot be 100% sure if this will be the case, but seeing as the Champions are involved in the early kick-off, you can check Laurent Blanc's selected XI before lock time. Lucas started on the bench on Wednesday, but was thrown into the action for the final 20 minutes, and he did not disappoint. The Brazilian attempted an incredible 7 dribbles in his short cameo and even got his name on the scoresheet with an expertly taken free-kick. I don't know what surprised PSG fans more; the fact that Ibrahimovic passed on the free kick or the manner that Lucas buried it with! PSG welcome Troyes to the Parc des Princes their opposition are the first team not to win any of their first 14 games in Ligue 1 since Grenoble in 2009/10. Lucas should run riot wherever deployed. Sunday: Another familiar face for Sunday; this time Algerian playmaker Wahbi Kharzi (8.6m). His price on Mondogoal has been dropping rapidly in the past few weeks; this is due to poor form and his recent Europa League suspension. A positive to take coming into the encounter with Caen is the fact that Kharzi has had a full weeks rest and recovery, unlike the majority of his teammates. On his day, the 24-year-old is as creative as anyone in Ligue 1 with an average of 3.1 key passes per game this season. He should see plenty of the ball and will look to exploit any space allowed by the Caen defence. Kharzi is capable of turning a game on its head and as Bordeaux's chief source for goals (4) and assists (5); they will turn to him for inspiration.

Forward Tips

Saturday: The majority of Mondogoal managers will splash the cash and select Zlatan Ibrahimovic (18.5m). It would be a very risky decision to fade him and there would be a high possibility of falling behind in your contests if you did. It's a high price to pay for a single player, however, by leaving out PSG's all-time top goal scorer, you might pay an even higher price. In our opinion Ibrahimovic is a ‘must have'; He has scored 9 times while assisting 5 this season and with his average of 5.2 shots attempted per game, he is irreplaceable for Mondogoal. Sunday: To round off our tips for the weekend, we direct our focus towards the Saint-Etienne frontline. With their leading scorer, Robert Beric, missing out through injury, Nolan Roux (7.4m) will be the man to step up. So far this season the ex-Lille talisman has saved his best form for the Europa league (3 assists & 2 goals in 5 appearances), but now his time has come to contribute domestically. Saint-Etienne's head-to-head record is another reason to consider Roux; they are unbeaten in their last 4 home matches vs. Guingamp, scoring in each. Roux is a classic number 9, he shoots on sight and holds the ball up well; the Frenchman could prove an effective differential over the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Andy Delort.
