Goalkeeper Tips
Staying faithful to our cleansheet potential ranking Paris Saint-Germain's
Salvatore Sirigu (5.2m) gets the nod. The Italian is in-line for his first competitive action of the season after first choice keeper Kevin Trapp, unfortunately, picked up a hamstring injury, which will see him sidelined for at least a month. PSG have secured a cleansheet in 5 of their last 7 matches vs. Bastia and have conceded just 5 goals this season in all competitions. Valued at 5.2m, which is half the price Kevin Trapp was listed for on
Mondogoal; it really is a no-brainer to include Sirigu in your side.
Our second goalkeeper recommendation is
Remy Riou (7.7m) of Nantes. It tells you something about Nantes' style of play that their goalkeeper is the most expensive player in their squad. Yes, Nantes don't score many, however, they are very stubborn defensively. There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 9 of Nantes' last 10 games and in all of Troyes last 4 matches; so a low-scoring encounter seems likely. Remi Riou's opposition have failed to score in 5 of their last 7 fixtures in Ligue 1, so do yourself a favour and consider giving this goal quencher a place in your squad.
Defender Tips
The first defence we will look into is Saint-Etienne. Despite their present poor run of form, ‘The Greens' have only lost once in their last 12 league fixtures at home (W8, D3). They host GFC Ajaccio who have failed to win a single match in Ligue 1 so far; this is a result of a lack of chances created combined with a poor conversion rate, scoring on just 4 occasions this season.
The highest profile pick from Saint-Etienne is one-time Arsenal target
Loic Perrin (10.3m). His price tag is likely to put many
Mondogoal managers off, but as we say so often, he is priced this high for a reason. The experienced centre-back has led his side from the back for years and has undoubtedly been their top performer for years. The goal-scoring threat he offers is incomparable for a Ligue 1 defender on
Mondogoal, with a goal in 50% of his matches this season.
Florentin Pogba (8.1m) is another suitable option from Saint-Etienne if he is passed fit ahead of the clash with Ajaccio. He may be well known due to his younger sibling Paul Pogba, however, Florentin has developed a sound partnership with Perrin and is beginning to make a name for himself without his brother's help. His passing is adept and he often carries the ball forward when the chance arises. Another thing to add is that Pogba has never received a booking in Ligue 1… but after us saying that you can probably tell what's in store!
Another club to keep an eye on are Nantes. They are known for their tentative approach and with under 2.5 goals in 9 of their last 10 Ligue 1 fixtures, it's easy to tell that Nantes take pride in their strong backline. Their most reliable defender with the best stats for
Mondogoal scoring is
Koffi Djidji (6.3m). On average per game this season the Frenchman has made 2.7 tackles, 3.3 interceptions, while committing just 0.9 fouls. Nantes face Troyes, who have a goal difference of (-11) and like GFC Ajaccio are still searching for their first win during their second stint in Ligue 1.
If you're not so fussed about the fixture and want a player based on performance, then
Ricardo Pereira (5.1m) is a fantastic alternative. The Portuguese U21 striker, who is now being fielded as a marauding left-back, has managed 3 assists in his last 4 starts. Pereira picks up an average of 9.38 points on
Mondogoal per game. Nice struggle to keep cleansheets, nevertheless they have scored more goals than any club in Ligue 1 this season, so if you want an attacking option go for Pereira. Many believed he was not gifted enough to fill the void left by Jordan Amavi, however, the majority of Nice supporters now prefer the 22-year-old.
Attacking Potential
- Paris Saint-Germain
- Saint-Etienne
- Bordeaux
- Marseille
- Nantes
Midfielder Tips
Our first midfield recommendation is
Javier Pastore (11.7m). We advised selecting the Argentine in Gameweek 9 and we will do so again. PSG have scored at least 2 goals in 17 of their last 20 Ligue 1 matches and Pastore has racked up an average of 14.65 points per game on
Mondogoal during his last 3 starts, in which he grabbed a goal, 3 assists and 1 Man of the Match award. PSG will not take Bastia lightly, after losing 4-2 at the Stade Armand Cesari last season. This is one reason we overlooked PSG's defence, however, we do expect this to be an open game with plenty of goals and most importantly space for Pastore to work in. It is looking likely that Laurent Blanc will field a trio of Tiago Motta, one of Rabiot or Stambouli and Pastore. Taking into account the personnel stated, the Argentine looks set to play in the most advanced role of the three.
The next midfielder to earn his place in our tips is perhaps the most in-form player in Ligue 1,
Nicolas Benezet (6.1m). Since the Guingamp winger scored a brace, got an assist and received the Man of the Match award in Gameweek 9 Benezet has been forced to wait 2 weeks for the International break to finish, to get back into the action. He will be eager to prove that this display, 25 points on
Mondogoal, was not a flash in the pan and that he really is one of the most lethal midfielders in Ligue 1. Benezet's statistics are perfectly suited to
Mondogoal; on average per game this season he's made 2.7 key passes, attempted 2.3 dribbles and been fouled 2.1 times. If he can match these numbers once more, with an additional assist or goal, he will surpass the 10 points mark without trouble… and just look at that price!
To complete our midfield, we strongly advise considering
Wahbi Kharzi (11.7m). Bordeaux who are undefeated in 12 of their last 13 home matches in Ligue 1 come up against a wounded Montpellier side, who are sitting perilously close to the relegation zone, with just 4 points. Kharzi has demonstrated this season that he can be a thorn in any side; getting on the scoresheet against PSG, Lyon and the defensively minded Nantes. The French-born Tunisian International has been one of Ligue 1's most exciting talents this season and has received the Man of the Match award in 50% of the games he has featured in. With 5 assists and 4 goals to his name, not to mention the fact he's made more key passes on average per game than any other player in Ligue 1 this season; Kharzi is a ‘must have' on
Mondogoal.
Forward Tips
To kick off our forward suggestions is the unpredictable figure,
Michy Batshuayi (7m). With 9 shots on target in his last 3 fixtures, we feel the Belgian has the framework to score big on
Mondogoal vs. Lorient. Batshuayi struggled throughout the opening weeks this season, nevertheless new manager, Michel, has kept faith in the youngster and is beginning to reap the benefits with his striker scoring 6 times in the 7 matches he has taken charge of. The last time Marseille met Lorient, Batshuayi found the back of the net just 7 minutes after coming on as an impact sub, so let's hope he can do one better when starting from the off this time out.
“I am like wine, I improve with age”. This is a quote from our next pick and we are guessing you already know who would say something like this… yes, its
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (16.4m). The big Swede returns from a largely successful International Break, in which his country won 6 points from a possible 6 and he got on the scoresheet twice. The 34-year-old will aim to transfer this form onto the domestic stage vs. Bastia. In the last five meetings between PSG and Bastia, Ibrahimovic has scored 6 and assisted 3 of a total of 15 goals, which means he has been directly involved in 60% of his side's goals over this period. This highlights astonishing consistency, and after hearing his wine quote, Ibrahimovic doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon.
Thanks for reading and be sure to stay tuned for more tips throughout the season. Good luck from all at Fplbet.
