Goalkeeper Tips
Saturday:
Our keeper of choice for the Saturday fixtures and outright favourite to secure a cleansheet is
Andriy Pyatov (9.3m). Barring Ukraine's narrow loss last month at the hands of 2012 European Champions, Spain, they have been unbeaten at home this year. Pyatov has averaged 13.5 points on
Mondogoal in his last 3 fixtures, in all competitions and with the likelihood of another cautious first leg, we expect him to keep up this impressive output. Ukraine's primary aim will be to stop any away goals creeping past them, so they can travel to Slovenia to wrap things up in the second leg.
Sunday/Monday:
For the second round of matches, you could perhaps say that every team on show has decent cleansheet potential. Hungary will be desperate to hang on to their 1-goal advantage, which in turn allows Norway some breathing space at the back while Ireland can progress with a goalless draw. This leaves Bosnia; they must score to have any chance of continuing their European journey. Against the trend, nonetheless with complete confidence in our pick, we are going with Norway's
Orjan Nyland (9m). Their hosts have no incentive to score… it's as simple as that!
Defender Tips
Saturday:
It might prove a smart move to delve back into the Ukraine squad to double or even treble up with Pyatov for Saturday's slate. Our recommendations who we believe are both capable of fulfilling this job, is centre-back pairing of
Yevhen Khacheridi (9.2m) and
Yaroslav Rakitskiy (7.9m). The former put in superb back-to-back displays vs. Chelsea in the Champions League. Hopefully, he can transfer this form onto the international stage and towering at 6ft 6, Khacheridi will surely provide a danger from set-piece situations. He has also made 15 more interceptions than any of his teammates. The latter is perhaps a more reliable points scorer on
Mondogoal while also displaying better discipline than his counterpart with just the single caution in qualifying. Together this pair provide an experienced block; both have competed in the Champions league for 5 years plus and are odds-on to hold off Slovenia with ease.
Sunday/Monday:
Bosnia appeared very disjointed throughout their first leg tie with the Republic of Ireland. The match ended in a 1-1 stalemate, after a late equaliser from Dzeko, but other than that, they didn't look threatening. On the other hand, Martin O'Neill's Ireland are a ready-made outfit to soak up the pressure. His side will be content to kill the game and prevail on away goal advantage; which is why we advise selecting
Seamus Coleman (6.7m). The marauding fullback is disciplined, while offering an attacking outlet (15 goals and 12 assists for Everton since 2010) and has, without a doubt, the best price-to-points value of any Ireland defender on
Mondogoal.
Another brilliant option for Sunday is Norway's
Vegard Forren (8.5m). The composed centre-back scored 9.97 points during the first leg in which he successfully made 6 tackles and 3 interceptions. Forren has an extremely ‘high floor' on
Mondogoal and is almost guaranteed either cleansheet or single goal points.
Attacking Potential
- Ukraine
- Sweden
- Norway
- Bosnia
- Denmark
Midfielder Tips
Saturday:
Denmark's chances of upturning Sweden on home soil are largely dependent on the form of
Christian Eriksen (9.6m). Despite being only 23-years-old, he is chief creator for club and country and will be disappointed with his contribution thus far in the Euro qualifiers. Eriksen often turns up in important matches and with his deadly set-piece delivery; he can spark any game into life. With Sweden's recent injury/illness downfall (Ekdal OUT, Kallstrom & Lewicki DOUBTS), the 23-year-old is accomplished enough to expose their ‘achilles heel' and take advantage of this. The majority of
Mondogoal managers due to the opposition and his price tag will likely overlook Eriksen, however, we all know what he's capable of.
Another great choice is Sweden's
Erkan Zengin (9m). The pony-tailed winger will be relied upon, in the absence of Albin Ekdal, to be the key orchestrator for Ibrahimovic. Zengin has averaged 9.26 points per game in qualifying and with 5 shots on target, 2 assists and 3 goals; the 30-year-old is definitely worth considering.
Sunday/Monday:
Following his poor performance on Friday,
Miralem Pjanic (13.6m) will feel the need to demonstrate why he is so highly rated, in the reverse fixture. Roma's maestro was deployed in an unfamiliar deeper role in the first leg and his frustration was clear to see – the game was in front of him, however, his teammates failed in the movement department. Pjanic has scored 5 and assisted 5 in 10 Serie A appearances this season and has recently been named the best free-kick taker at the moment by none other than Juninho Pernambucano. Talking about his set-piece exploits, we came across an interesting stat; ‘Pjanic would have to miss his next 162 free-kicks to have as bad a strike rate as Ronaldo'! Ireland will have their backs against the wall for the majority of this match, thus Pjanic will see plenty of involvement and have the chance to whip balls in left, right and centre for the likes of Dzeko and Ibisevic.
Forward Tips
Saturday:
We joke that
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (17.8m) has his own slot for our Ligue 1 tips and now he's dictating our European Tips! The big Swede hit back at the doubters, who thought he was passed his best, by scoring 19 goals in 21 fixtures for club and country this year. Yes, that's right Ibrahimovic ALWAYS gets the last laugh! There's not much else to say about this ego-driven striker, other than his record and recognition speaks for itself. Surprisingly Ibrahimovic has never scored against Denmark in 6 attempts, nevertheless, you would have to be downright bold not to include him on your
Mondogoal side.
Sunday/Monday:
Ukraine welcome Slovenia to the Olimpiyskiy Stadium tonight, in a match where the home side are expected to score goals. Their two standout players on Mondogoal are
Andriy Yarmolenko (9.9m) and
Yevhen Konoplyanka (9.2m). Taking the pairs explosiveness into consideration, both wingers are fairly priced and the stats back them up. In qualifying the former has scored 4, assisted 2 and won 27 fouls, while the latter has scored 2, is yet to assist, but triumphs his fellow wingman with 35 fouls won. When people mention Ukraine the name that usually springs to mind is Yarmolenko, nevertheless, Konoplyanka has certainly caught our eye since his big money move to Sevilla. Oozing confidence after his Man of the Match display vs. Real Madrid we are expecting big things from Konoplyanka, but you can never write off Yarmolenko. Both players have everything you want from a
Mondogoal player; they shoot on sight, they tempt opponents into fouls and above all they can find the net.
