Clean Sheet Potential
The bookies across the country are indicating that England, Ukraine, Macedonia, Russia and Estonia are the five most likely teams to keep a sheet this Saturday. With that in mind you could certainly do a lot worse than just selecting defenders from the above teams should it work out for your daily fantasy football team(s) financially.
Goalkeeper Tips
Our first international daily fantasy football tips is
Andriy Pyatov (Mondogoal: 8.6m) the shot stopper is the most experienced goalkeeper that manager Mykhaylo Fomenko has at his disposal. With 55 caps he is the second most capped keeper in Ukraine history behind the legendry Oleksandr Shovkovskyi. The Ukrainians have only conceded two goals in qualifying and their oppositions Belarus have only scored four. As we previously mentioned though make sure you check the team line ups before selecting your final side.
Next up is Macedonia's
Tome Pachovski (Mondogoal: 5.2m) who lines up against Luxembourg. Pachovski is currently the national team captain and at the age of 33 brings bags of experience to the table. Whilst they are away from home they face a Luxembourg side who are ranked 141 in the FIFA world rankings. They have also only scored three goals this campaign, and although Macedonia have conceded 14 goals (5 of which came in one game against Spain) they should be looking to keep a clean sheet against one of Europe's weaker sides. This selection is very much a risk but it could pay off for you.
The final goalkeeping selection is England's very own
Joe Hart (Mondogoal: 9.6m) who this season has been in fantastic form and is yet to concede a goal. England probably have the most appealing fixture this weekend in the shape of San Marino who as we know are one of the worst sides in international football. They are yet to score a goal in qualification whilst England have only conceded three. This should be a rout for Roy Hodgson's side and Hart could probably sit on his deck chair he is almost guaranteed a clean sheet in this one.
Defender Tips
Whilst looking at the defenders for Saturday one players cheap price tag stands out more than anyone else. That's
Gary Cahill (Mondogoal: 5.6m) at that price it's incredibly hard to overlook the Chelsea defender. We all know that Cahill is a solid defender but this season he hasn't enjoyed the best of spells for his club side. That doesn't mean he isn't going to perform against San Marino. Cahill also provides a threat from set pieces that could see him rack up a few more points. For 5.6m he is a fantastic acquisition for any daily fantasy football side.
Estonia welcome Lithuania this weekend and captain
Ragnar Klavn (Mondogoal 7.7m) will be hoping to shut up the opposition and help his team to all three points. Lithuania have only scored four goals so far this qualification campaign whilst Estonia have conceded five. This is the third least in Group E behind England and Switzerland. Klavn has 103 caps to his name and is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga with FC Augsburg. If Estonia are to keep a clean sheet than the skipper will play a part in that achievement.
One of the most expensive defenders this weekend is
Yevhen Khacheridi (Mondogoal: 9.7m) who welcomes Belarus to the NSC Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kiev. The Ukrainian is a no nonsense defender who currently has 32 caps to his name. He has a habit of winning tackles which will see him add bonus points to your Mondogoal side. At 6ft 6 he also provides a threat in the opposition box.
Sweden have a tricky fixture away to Russia and although they are expected to concede, (according to the bookies odds anyway) their left back
Oscar Wendt (Mondogoal: 8.3m) is one of the Bundesliga's highest rated defenders. The Swede isn't the most attacking but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic upfront he has plenty of chances to pick up assists.
Attacking Potential
Another look at the bookies odds suggest that, England, Ukraine, Macedonia, Russia and Sweden are the five most likely teams to score. Formulating the basis of your attack around these teams could be a logical way to go.
Midfielder Tips
As we mentioned before Mondogoal do not have the most up to date squads but there are two England midfielders who look a good pick.
Ross Barkley (Mondogoal: 9.6m) and
Theo Walcott (Mondogoal: 9.1m) could be shrewd picks for your side. The former has been in fantastic form this season, form that could see him secure a starting position in the squad against San Marino whilst Walcott's pace could be used out wide to exploit gaps in the opposition defence. Both Barkley and Walcott have the ability to change a game and are fantastic both on and off the ball occupying space left by the defenders. These two picks are a bit of a risk as there is no guarantee they will start against San Marino so make sure you check the starting line ups before picking them.
Russia also have a duo of midfielders who are worth a look in,
Alan Dzagoev (Mondogoal: 11.0m) and
Yuri Zhirkov (Mondogoal: 5.8m) are both eye catching options from the Russia side. Dzagoev is a technician who has fantastic ball control and an incredible eye for a pass, he is also one of Russia's set piece takers which could see him collect both assists and goals against Ukraine this weekend. Former Chelsea man Zhirkov has been a constant figure in Russia's side. He is a threat down the left for Fabio Capello's side and can be a nightmare to play against. If he starts his price enables you to spend elsewhere as he comes in at a very cheap 5.8m
Another cheap player for you to consider is Ukrainian midfielder
Serhiy Sydorchuk (Mondogoal: 4.2m) the 24-year-old currently has four caps to his name in which he has scored two goals. He not only scores goals but can also create them and has the ability to “pull the strings” and assist for his team mates. Once again though, with the options that Ukraine have to their disposal there is no guarantee he will start so make sure you check the team line ups before selecting the cheap midfielder.
Forward Tips
Whilst the options you have at your disposal in midfield are restricted you have a handful of world class forwards to choose from. First is
Wayne Rooney (Mondogoal: 8.0m) the Manchester United forward is yet to score in the Premier League this season, but is chasing the all time England goal scoring record. He couldn't of asked for a better game to try achieve that than San Marino. Rooney is going to get a lot of chances this Saturday that goes without saying and we all know he has the ability to finish them, at 8.0m he offers fantastic value for a player who more often than not turns up for England.
It was only a matter of time before we got onto
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Mondogoal: 17.3m) what is there to be said about the Swedish striker that hasn't already been said? If you love him or hate him there is no denying he is an incredible player. He currently has 56 goals in 105 international games making him Sweden's all time scorer. The captain can make a chance out of nothing and pull magic out of thin air. A real asset to your side, but he comes at a price.
Goals really are lacking in the Estonia front line but
Sergei Zenjov (Mondogoal 5.5m) could be a good differential for your side. With Estonia coming up against a very poor Lithuania side he could add to his international tally of nine goals. The Lithuania side don't travel well having conceded eight goals in three games on their travels.
The final international daily fantasy football tips are the Ukrainian duo
Andriy Yarmolenko (Mondogoal: 10.9m) and
Yevhen Konoplyanka (Mondogoal: 9.8m.) The duo are both fantastic wingers who can also occupy the number 10 role or play as the striker. Yarmolenko is currently the second highest goal scorer for Ukraine second only to Andriy Shevchenko whilst Konoplyanka is 6th on that list of players. The Belarus defence will be in for a tough day against these two.
