GW37 Differential Selections

Well here we are, the season is coming to a close as we reach the final weekend with games spread across differing days and times. Some teams are on the beach, some have to fight for Europe, some for the title and some for survival. There are injuries and rotation issues everywhere, with some teams playing youth and fringe players or giving more senior players a farewell game or two. There is one game this weekend which is the very definition of form vs fixture with out of sorts Manchester United playing Huddersfield. Liverpool and City are still chasing the title against Newcastle (a) and Leicester (H) respectively, which both being potential banana skins against ex-liverpool managers. Chelsea face Watford who have to rest players ahead of the FA Cup and Brighton could be on the beach against Arsenal should Cardiff fail to get past Palace on Saturday evening.

Alexis

10.0m Manchester United 1.2% TSB Huddersfield (a), Cardiff (H) Alexis has had an invisible 18 months at Manchester with his bloated wages looking to be moved on this summer, what could help his future suitors and United in shipping him out is a few good performances in games where United ‘could' run riot. With Lukaku seemingly out for the season, Rashford training but nursing a shoulder and an ankle knock, and Martial and Solskjaer falling out over the Frenchman's league low average distance covered (aka Martial is so painfully lazy); Alexis could be in line to lead the line for United. There is an outside chance that soon to be crowned academy player of the year Mason Greenwood (4.5m) will be given some gametime as a reward for his 30+ goal season at youth level. Also, if Ole has fully lost confidence with Martial we may see Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong. But what we do know is Alexis is fit, and the games, on paper, are amazing. There is no point looking at Alexis' season stats from this season as he has done nothing. But we must remember his history and people who are chasing their ML rival or rank, this is the punt you need to look at.

Aubameyang

10.8m Arsenal 17.9% TSB Brighton (H), Burnley (a) Arsenal need to respond on Sunday to arrest their slump in form and make one last shot at UCL qualification through the league. Brighton will either be on the beach or playing nervously trying to protect anything come Sunday, as Cardiff's fixture on Saturday night will dictate the philosophy of the Brighton performance. What we do know is Aubameyang isn't as good a premium asset as Aguero but he is the next best with a fantastic average of 5.4 points per game which is only bettered by 9 players (who have played over 2000 league minutes). With Brighton and Burnley up next with a combined predicted team xG's of 2.49 (4th highest in the league), he could return for you and hopefully me 😉.

Antonio

6.8m West Ham United 1.1% TSB Southampton (H), Watford (a) West Ham make no sense. They play well when we don't expect them too and disappear when we want them to return us points. But Antonio is an effective weapon in their attack and when he plays he usually does something and could continue from his goal at the New White Hart Lane with attacking returns against Southampton and Watford who have been porous of late. With Southampton conceding another 3 goals last week and yet somehow securing Premier League safety, they can now relax, and then West Ham visit a Watford team who will play their last game of the season with an eye on the FA Cup final up after. Antonio has the same average points per gameweek as Ashely Barnes and Aaron Ramsey (3.3ptsp/g) and is a punt but with the defensive frailties of his two opponents he could make good use of his midfield FPL positioning.
