Under the Radar Stealth Picks for FPL Gameweek 5

Share post on:
Fantasy Football picks GW5 With the International break there comes a change in fixtures, form, suspension and injuries for most teams. With the landscape of FPL forming into somewhat of a template with the power 3 left backs in defence with Aguero up top and a similar set of other players from a shortlist of 20 or so, the break gives managers a perfect chance to play their wildcard or make some transfers to their team. Last time on the Under the radar we picked out 4 defenders who were going a little under the radar, unfortunately not many of them returned points straight away with Luke Shaw the highest scorer with 5 points. With notable knocks to Shaw and Fraser, and returns from injury for Zaha and others the international break leaves us with some interesting questions going into GW5.

Heung Min Son

8.3m Liv, Bri, Hud, Car Fresh from avoiding military service and success in an international tournament Sonny returns to Spurs. However, after playing 2 international tournaments this summer with a pre-season and 10 mins of competitive football wedged in between for Spurs we could see Son eased back in, especially considering the form of Lucas Moura. Son could see his return in the Champions League or the League, and should rotate with Lucas. However, with Alli pulling out of international duty due to a minor knock Son could be thrown in the deep end this weekend and as we know from Son, once he plays, he usually returns points and keeps his place. With very consistent returns of 174 and 178 points in the last two seasons the South Korean could be a handy differential considering his price drop down to 8.3m.

Joe Hart

4.5m Wol, Bou, Car, Hud Fortunately, I had the ex-England stopper in between the sticks last GW and returned 10 points, once more proving that Goalkeeper rotation for easy home fixtures is somewhat of a myth. With Burnley out of Europe and Joe Hart's collection of impressive domestic performances he seems to have nailed down a spot in the Burnley goal, for now. After coming through a sticky spell Burnley have a good run of fixtures and Hart who has already recorded the 4th highest return of any Goalkeeper and the joint 1st highest amount of Saves (22) is set perfectly to take advantage of this.

Jamie Vardy

8.9m Bou, Hud, New, Eve Retired from international football so had a break Check, been out suspended after only a small amount of football this season so is under the radar Check, good fixtures coming up Check. What is not to love about this one, having already scored and picked up a bonus point despite not playing a full game, Jamie Vardy is primed to be a differential moving forward. Leicester have, so far, appeared to be quite potent in attack with 6 goals in a tricky run that included Manchester United and Liverpool. Vardy's ownership at 3.2% and his price drop to 8.9m make him a standout pick ahead of a good run of fixtures. He is on penalties too.

David Silva

8.5m Ful, Car, Bri, Liv David Silva is leading some impressive statistic sections with high amounts of key passes and shots in the box, however he has failed to return much in terms of FPL points. With just one free-kick goal to his name the Spaniard is not a high priority for many FPL managers, however he does have some major factors in his favour; with De Bruyne's injury and City getting the easiest UCL group of the English sides David Silva's selection in the premier league has more positivity than it did a few weeks back. He has been hugely creative and has been in positions to get goals, although some good saves and close misses have prevented this so far. At 8.5m and with a great run of fixtures in the next 3 he could return big for FPL managers. Until Next Time... Make Good Choices! JERR Follow fplbet for weekly fantasy features, opinion and stats...
