Gameweek 9 Captain Tips For Fantasy Premier League

Gameweek 9 Captain Tips For Fantasy Premier League.

It's form vs fixture vs odds in this week's captain tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 9. This week the inform Theo Walcott joins his teammate Alexis Sanchez along with City pair Aguero and De Bruyne, along with Lukaku, Costa, Firmino and Son.

Which player is in the best form?

# Player PPG Goals Assists
1 Walcott 10 4 2
2 De Bruyne 9.25 2 4
3 Sanchez 8 3 2
3 Firmino 8 3 1
5 Lukaku 7.5 3 1
6 Costa 7 3 1
7 Son 6.25 2 1
8 Aguero 4 2 0
Last week, Diego Costa justified his place at the top of our captaincy tips list with a goal and three bonus points against Leicester. Romelu Lukaku also managed a goal and two bonus points, while Alexis Sanchez managed an assist for a five-point haul. Elsewhere it wasn't a great week for the rest of our options. Mauricio Pochettino threw a spanner in the works by benching Son, while Roberto Firmino blanked. The worst news came for Aguero's owners though. Not only was the Argentine only deemed fit enough for the bench after his international excursions - he missed a penalty after coming on to register -1 points. Christian Benteke also missed a penalty and got booked to match Aguero's dismal score, and therefore drops out of the options this week.

Which player has the easiest fixture in Gameweek 9?

# Player Vs Goals Conceded Big Chances Conceded
1 Lukaku BUR (A) 7 10
2 Son BOU (A) 7 7
3 Sanchez MID (H) 7 2
3 Walcott MID (H) 7 2
5 Firmino WBA (H) 5 6
6 Costa MUN (H) 5 4
7 Aguero SOU (H) 1 1
7 De Bruyne SOU (H) 1 1
It's an interesting week in terms of fixtures, with four of our options facing defences that have each conceded seven goals in the last four gameweeks. Lukaku travels to Turf Moor to face a Burnley side that have also conceded ten big chances in their last four. While this is appetising for a striker who can find his way past any defence on his day, it is worth noting Sean Dyche's side are far more resilient at home and have conceded only three goals in five games there, shutting out the likes of Liverpool, Watford and almost holding off Arsenal. Son faces a Bournemouth side who have conceded seven big chances in our timeframe, suggesting the Korean will get opportunities, particularly if he is preferred to Viktor Janssen up front. Sanchez and Walcott both face a Middlesbrough side who are good at limiting big chances but still concede goals, perhaps suggesting the Chilean is the more likely to profit as someone who creates goals from nothing. Elsewhere Klopp's Liverpool face a relatively stingy West Brom defence who have only let six big chances and five goals in their last four games. Diego Costa will face a United side managed by his former manager Jose Mourinho; a side that has only allowed four big chances and may know how to shackle the Spaniard. Finally, Aguero and De Bruyne will both line up against a Southampton side that has the best defence of recent weeks. The Saints have kept three clean sheets in their last four and would have probably kept Burnley out if not for a makeshift defence that conceded a penalty to Sam Vokes. It is worth noting that Claude Puel's side have had a favourable run of fixtures in that time.

Who is the bookies favourite to score in Gameweek 9?

# Player Odds To Score Implied Chance
1 Aguero 5/6 54.55%
2 Sanchez Evens 50.00%
3 Lukaku 21/20 48.78%
4 Firmino 11/10 47.62%
5 Walcott 13/10 43.48%
6 Costa 7/5 41.67%
7 De Bruyne 13/8 38.10%
8 Son 17/10 37.04%
The bookies appear to be backing Aguero to get back to form after a miserable couple of weeks. He has been given a 54.55% implied chance of scoring, vastly superior to his teammate De Bruyne who comes in at 38.1%. If the Argentine does score however, it may well be the Belgian who assists. Sanchez comes in at evens against Middlesbrough, suggesting the bookies agree he is more likely to profit against their organised ranks than Walcott (43.48%). Lukaku and Firmino rank just behind with 48.78% and 47.62% respectively, suggesting the bookies don't know how tough the defenses they face will prove. Diego Costa comes in at only 41.67% - a lot lower than last week - as the bookies no doubt expect a strong defensive performance from United again, while Son is surprisingly bottom of the list against Bournemouth with only a 37.04% chance of finding the net.

Who is the best captaincy option for Gameweek 9?

# Player Form Fixture Odds Total
1 Sanchez 3 3 2 8
2 Walcott 1 3 5 9
2 Lukaku 5 1 3 9
4 Firmino 3 5 4 12
5 Son 7 2 8 15
6 De Bruyne 2 7 7 16
6 Aguero 8 7 1 16
8 Costa 6 6 6 18
Despite his underwhelming performances over the last two games, we expect Sanchez to be Arsenal's prime points scorer this week and possibly take the overall points lead in the process. With such a promising fixture however his teammate Walcott joins him in second, with Arsenal options the way to go. Those who don't have either player may want to take a chance on Lukaku. While Burnley will be organised at home, the Belgian is in great form as he showed with his goal against City last weekend. Firmino could be a cheeky differential for those who fancy Liverpool will thrash West Brom. They may be out for blood after United shut them out on Monday, and Firmino (10.7)  is currently owned by less players than his teammates Coutinho (34.7) and Mane (14.3) despite boasting a better points average than both. Son ranks low on or list but again could be an interesting option for those who fancy him to beat the bookies while Aguero and De Bruyne are joint sixth, suggesting it may be worth going with the Arsenal option or another striker even if you have them in your squad. Finally Diego Costa looks like one to avoid. Even if he does find the net against a United side finding their resilience, he is one yellow card away from suspension. With an EFL Cup game against West Ham on Wednesday it wouldn't be surprising to see him pick up a “tactical” booking and therefore lose a point and forfeit any bonus.

Captaincy Competition:

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-19-07-37 Congratulations to FPLIntellect and FPLSteve who were our joint  Gameweek 8 highest scorers. Both selected identical teams and had Charlie Austin's brace and 13-point haul carried their teams despite Christian Benteke's nghtmare game and Virgil Van Dijk failing to keep a clean sheet, meaning they scored 26 points, narrowly beating other opposition. Tommass4 still tops the overall leaderboard with 216 points and increases his league despite not getting the highest score. With plenty of movement around the top however, it is still all to play for. To enter, comment below with a best bet, differential (less than 5% ownership) and defender pick. The player with the highest five gameweek scores at the end of the season will win our top secret prize.
