Gameweek 8 Captain Tips For Fantasy Premier League

Gameweek 8 Captain Tips For Fantasy Premier League.

It's form vs fixture vs odds in this week's captain tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 8. We compare the regular armband contenders Aguero, Costa, Sanchez and Lukaku as well as emerging form options Son, Firmino and Benteke.

Which player is in the best form?

# Player PPG Goals Assists
1 Son 10.75 4 2
2 Lukaku 9.75 5 1
3 Firmino 8.5 3 1
4 Costa 7.75 4 1
5 Aguero 7.5 4 0
6 Sanchez 7 3 1
7 Benteke 5.25 3 0
The form table has taken a bit of an overhaul this week in light of some less likely players delivering consistently big hauls. Son currently tops the form chart courtesy of two double figure hauls. The Korean scored twice against Middlesbrough and Stoke and grabbed an assist against City, while also grabbing a goal in Europe. He also managed a goal and assist against Qatar on international duty. The next form option in Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has been in great form for Everton, scoring five goals in four games.  He also scored in Belgium's win against Bosnia and, although he had an injury scare, it is likely he will be fit despite staying on the bench against Gibraltar. Firmino's goal and assist meant he has the best points per game record of any Liverpool player bar Milner and he managed a goal from the bench against Bolivia. Costa has also been in fine form for Chelsea and Spain and has nine goals in 11 games this season. Aguero and Sanchez have got respectable averages with 7.5 and 7 points after some explosive hauls, while Christian Benteke has three goals in five games for Palace as well as a midweek hat-trick against Gibraltar.

Which player has the easiest fixture in Gameweek 8?

# Player Vs Goals Conceded Big Chances Conceded
1 Benteke WHU (H) 12 10
2 Sanchez SWA (A) 8 10
3 Costa LEI (H) 8 9
4 Firmino MUN (H) 7 6
5 Son WBA (A) 5 6
6 Lukaku MCY (A) 4 5
7 Aguero EVE (H) 3 2
Belgian Christian Benteke will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a West Ham side in dire straits. The Hammers' defence has caused much amusement in recent times and they are joint top overall for chances conceded, while only Hull have conceded more in the last four games. Sanchez's owners will be hoping he can record another double-figure haul against a struggling Swansea. While an appetising fixture on paper however, it is worth noting the Swans are unbeaten in their last four at the Emirates and will have new manager, Bob Bradley, in place. While they were among the more solid defences last year, United and Leicester have been surprisingly leaky this time around.  Costa will be expecting to grab a goal against the Foxes - who rank fourth for goals conceded over the last four - while United are unlikely to keep out free-scoring Liverpool, with Firmino hoping to profit. Son will be hoping to carry on his fine form against a West Brom side who - while ranking as one of the better defences - actually tend to concede more at home than away. Lukaku and Aguero face each other when Manchester City host Everton. Both are capable of scoring in any fixture and could potentially find the net with clean sheets at a premium for both sides.

Who is the bookies favourite to score in Gameweek 8?

# Player Odds To Score Implied Chance
1 Aguero 8/11 57.89%
2 Costa 5/6 54.55%
3 Sanchez 10/11 52.38%
4 Benteke 11/8 42.11%
5 Son 7/4 36.36%
6 Firmino 7/4 36.36%
7 Lukaku 2/1 33.33%
Once again Aguero is the bookies favourite, coming in at short odds of 8/11 and nearly a 58% chance of scoring against Everton. Koeman has tended to struggle against the bigger sides and the bookmakers clearly favour the Argentine's chances. Costa and Sanchez also come in with good chances at 54.55% and 52.38% respectively. The bookies clearly think Costa will find the net with Kante defending shielding the blue of Chelsea rather than Leicester, while Swansea's record against Arsenal has little effect on the Chilean's odds - possible because the brick wall of Ashley Williams has departed the Swans. Benteke comes up with a respectable 42.11% chance of profiting at the Olympic Stadium with a number of key Hammers defenders missing, while the bookies don't seem to fancy the chances of Son, Firmino and Lukaku, with all four rated at a sub-40% chance.

Who is the best captaincy option for Gameweek 8?

# Player Form Fixture Odds Total
1 Costa 4 3 2 9
2 Son 1 5 5 11
2 Sanchez 6 2 3 11
4 Benteke 7 1 4 12
5 Firmino 3 4 6 13
5 Aguero 5 7 1 13
7 Lukaku 2 6 7 15
Taking form, fixtures and the bookies' odds into consideration, Diego Costa appears to be the most likely to deliver attacking returns against Leicester. It is worth noting however that Costa rarely picks up bonus unless he scores more than once or assists as well, and is just as likely to get booked. Those hoping for more explosive returns may look to Son and Sanchez. Both have been fielded out of position up front for their respective clubs and can therefore grab more points if they find the net. Christian Benteke provides an intriguing option as he is still only owned by 7.1% of managers while Firmino, Aguero and Lukaku score low this week ahead of tricky fixtures.

Captaincy Competition:

screen-shot-2016-10-12-at-21-09-44 Congratulations to JRodGoonerSKC who was our Gameweek 7 highest scorer. His best bet Zlatan Ibrahimovic only returned him 2 points but that didn't stop him tallying up a whopping 52 points thanks to his other selections. His differential, Nacer Chadli, scored the equaliser in West Brom's 1-1 away draw to Sunderland earning him 20 points, whilst his defender, Laurent Koscielny, scored a 92nd minute hand ball in Arsenal's 1-0 win over Burnley to earn him another 30 points. Tommass4 still tops the overall leaderboard with 192 points, but after another low scoring game week, his lead has been reduced to just 8 points. To enter, comment below with a best bet, differential (less than 5% ownership) and defender pick.
