Gameweek 6 Captain Tips For Fantasy Premier League.

It's form vs fixture vs odds in this week's captain tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 6. We compare three Manchester City options, the usual premium strikers Costa, Ibrahimovic and Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and Sadio Mane from Liverpool, plus in-form midfielders Etienne Capoue and Michail Antonio.

Last week a number of captaincy candidates managed attacking returns for their club, but the big winners were those who captained one of Lukaku, Sanchez or Kane. The Belgian managed a goal and assist against a Middlesbrough side that hadn't given away many chances in their first four fixtures and rewarded his owners with a 12-point haul. Sanchez scored twice against Hull and registered 10 points. Frustratingly for the 13% of owners, the Chilean missed a penalty and therefore lost two points and missed out on any bonus. Kane managed a goal and all three bonus points but will now face weeks on the sideline with an ankle injury. The best of the rest for last week's captaincy contenders were Costa and Vardy, who each scored 6 with a goal and assist respectively, while Ibrahimovic managed a 5-point return. There was also points to be had in the City midfield with De Bruyne (14) and Sterling (13) bringing in the points, hence their inclusion this week.

Which player is in the best form?

# Player PPG Goals Assists
1 Aguero* 9.67 3 0
2 Antonio 9.5 5 0
3 De Bruyne 9.25 2 4
4 Capoue 8.5 4 1
5 Sterling 8.25 3 2
6 Lukaku 8 4 1
7 Sanchez 7.5 3 2
8 Costa 7 4 1
9 Ibrahimovic 6.25 4 1
10 Mane 5.5 2 1
*Aguero's average only taken from the 3 fixtures he's played in this season. Topping the form are City's attacker, with three in the top five. Sergio Aguero has managed two goals and six bonus points before being handed a suspension for an elbow on Winston Reid vs West Ham. In his absence De Bruyne and Sterling have stepped up with an average of 9.25 and 8.25 points over the last four, though it is worth noting both De Bruyne in particular scored well in the Argentine's absence and could well regress with the striker returning. There are two unfamiliar names in the form table this week, with the form of Michail Antonio and Etienne Capoue proving too much to ignore. Antonio has hit five goals in four games since being reinstated in an attacking role and has an outside chance of featuring upfront for the Hammers. Capoue has also managed returns in four of five games as he continues his preseason form from an advanced position. Lukaku has an average score of 8, made all the more impressing by registering two double-figure hauls since the international break. Costa and Ibrahimovic, currently the two highest-owned premium strikers. While Ibra's output has gone down in recent matches, Costa is the only player to manage returns in every game. Liverpool's Sadio Mane joins the list as a prime-Liverpool asset. The Senegalese is prone to explosive returns when Klopp's side is firing having managed 12 points against Leicester.

Which player has the easiest fixture in Gameweek 5?

# Player Vs Goals Conceded Big Chances Conceded
1 Aguero SWA (A) 7 13
1 De Bruyne SWA (A) 7 13
1 Sterling SWA (A) 7 13
4 Capoue BUR (A) 7 7
5 Lukaku BOU (A) 6 11
6 Mane HUL (H) 6 8
7 Ibrahimovic LEI (H) 5 6
8 Antonio SOU (H) 5 5
8 Sanchez CHE (H) 5 5
10 Costa ARS (A) 3 4
Again it is the City players at the top as Guardiola's side visit a Swansea side that lead the way for conceding big chances. Unless Guidolin's side tighten up considerably, the City trio will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing such a charitable defence. While many players expecting Capoue's scoring form to stop, a number will certainly be playing him against a Burnley side that have shipped six goals in four games. Similarly Lukaku will be confident and finding the net against a Bournemouth side averaging nearly four big chances a game over recent weeks, with Eddie Howe's side also notoriously vulnerable in the air. Sadio Mane joins the list this week with a potentially profitable fixture against Hull. Elden Jakupovic has faced the most shots in the Hull goal while Arsenal showed what a clinical side can do by scoring four times against them. Ibrahimovic, Antonio and Sanchez face slightly more difficult tasks with Leicester, Southampton and Chelsea conceding 5 goals in the last four, although all are capable of scoring in any fixture. Diego Costa meanwhile faces one of the stingiest defences for giving up chances but will be bouyed by the fact the Gunners have kept only one clean sheet this season.

Who is the bookies favourite to score in Gameweek 5?

# Player Odds To Score Implied Chance
1 Aguero 8/11 57.89%
2 Mane 5/4 44.44%
3 De Bruyne 11/8 42.11%
3 Sterling 11/8 42.11%
3 Lukaku 11/8 42.11%
3 Ibrahimovic 11/8 42.11%
7 Costa 13/8 38.1%
8 Antonio 2/1 33.33%
8 Sanchez 2/1 33.33%
10 Capoue 7/2 22.22%
Aguero is again top of the table, with with the bookies with an implied chance of 58% of finding the net against Swansea, by far and away the best odds in the table. Sadio Mane justifies his inclusion this week with the bookmakers rating him with a 44% chance, while De Bruyne and Sterling join Lukaku and Ibrahimovic with a 42% of scoring, outlining the faith bookmakers have in the Swede regardless of fixture. Despite having the trickiest fixture of our ten, Costa is still rated with a decent 38% chance of finding the net, while Sanchez is only at 33% despite playing in an attacking role for the home side. Antonio is only rated at 33% while Capoue only scoring one premier league goal before this season has prejudiced the bookies against him. It should be taken into account however that the Frenchman's odds would probably be slimmer if he played for a big-name team, despite Watford scoring for fun at the moment.

Who is the best captaincy option for Gameweek 5?

# Player Form Fixture Odds Total
1 Aguero 1 1 1 3
2 De Bruyne 3 1 3 7
3 Sterling 5 1 3 9
4 Lukaku 6 5 3 14
5 Antonio 2 8 8 18
5 Capoue 4 4 10 18
5 Mane 10 6 2 18
8 Ibrahimovic 9 7 3 19
9 Sanchez 7 8 8 23
10 Costa 8 10 7 25
Taking everything into account, captaining your City option seems the way to go this week. Aguero, fresh from a rest and having hit a Champions League hat-trick last week, seems poised to strike again and is a safe option for the armband. It is worth noting that about two-thirds of De Bruyne's goals have come while the Argentine is out, while Sterling has remained fairly consistent regardless of Aguero's inclusion. For those who don't have Aguero, Lukaku seems a good bet to bring home the points. The Belgian often scores in spurts and is in great form at the moment and should profit from Everton getting the ball in the box. Antonio and Capoue represent great value but won't have many people captaining them due to their price points and teams. There are certainly safer options but both are in good form and could be good differential picks. Similarly, Sadio Mane could be a great shout for explosive returns against a Hull side that are starting to look frail. Surprisingly there are three big names at the bottom. Ibrahimovic would be a good bet for those who don't own Aguero or Lukaku, although a lot relies on how quickly Mourinho can sort out a United side in poor form. Finally it seems wise to avoid Sanchez or Costa this week. Arsenal vs Chelsea may well be a tight game and Costa in particular is as likely to get booked or sent off as he is to score.
