Gameweek 33 Captain Tips

Share post on:
fplhollyFPLHolly is back this week with her selection of captain picks for Gameweek 33. Her Clueless Husband returns with his choice, but he's struggling to get the name right. Read on for more. It was a good week for the captain picks with five of the seven picks returning: it was kudos for those who took the gamble on sword pick Aubameyang as he outscored Mo Salah. The downside was that it could easily have been more, if he had chosen to take the second penalty! There's slim pickings for this week with the Merseyside and Manchester derbies affecting some of the big clubs. However, Arsenal and Spurs assets look to be popular!

Shield Pick: Mohammed Salah vs Everton (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 8/11 There is no stopping Mo Salah and he will be backed heavily once again this week. Be careful though, as if Liverpool are still within reach for the Champions League quarter final tie with Manchester City, then rotation could hit in this one! It's Merseyside Derby day so it's not going to be easy for Salah, but he did get a goal in the reverse fixture and he now has seven returns in 8 games. It was a mad March for Mo: 6 goals and 1 assist in four Premier League games. If you've a strong rank to protect, you know what to do!

Sword Pick: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang vs Southampton (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 7/10 Aubameyang is a man in form and guaranteed starts for Arsenal despite their Europa League involvement. He got 4 goals and 1 assist in March, plus it looks like he might be on penalties too. There's rumours that he could be shifted to the wing if Lacazette earns game time, but I wouldn't be overly concerned. The issue could be his service if Wenger plays the reserves to protect his key players for the Europa League (keep an eye out for Thursday's first leg result). Southampton have conceded seven goals in their last three away games. Will you steal a jump on Salah captainers with the sword pick again this time?

Form Pick: Dele Alli vs Stoke (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 13/10 Alli has the best form of all fantasy assets, firing in every league game in March with 3 goals and 2 assists. He also loves a game against Stoke, with 4 goals and an assist in 4 appearances. Stoke have conceded 7 goals in their last 3 games, so expect Alli to get plenty of chances. He is on a quest to get a World Cup place after Southgate snubbed him over the international break. With a goal in the reverse fixture, are you going with the form pick?

Fixture Pick: Harry Kane vs Stoke (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 4/6 Spurs beat Stoke 5-1 at Wembley earlier this season, with Kane getting a brace. This has to be the pick of the fixtures and, after missing a couple of games, Kane will be determined to get back into the golden boot race. There are still doubts on his fitness and whether he starts this one, since Spurs face Manchester City next weekend. His record against Stoke is particularly strong, with 8 goals in his last 4 appearances against the Potters. Will you gamble on the fixture pick?

Reverse Pick: Heung-Min Son vs Stoke (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 19/20 To complete our trio of Spurs options, Son is the reverse pick after a mammoth score in the home fixture against Stoke: he got a goal and 2 assists back in December. His game time is a worry, with Kane potentially back in the starting line up and other options in attacking midfield. Son does have 4 goals and an assist in his last three games though. Are your going to opt for the reverse pick?

Punt Pick: Luka Milivojevic vs Bournemouth (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 16/5 Milivojevic is the king of the budget midfielders, converting a ridiculous amount of penalties this season. He's the Birthday Boy this Saturday and he's already scored against Bournemouth this season. With goals in back to back games, you'd be daft to bet against him in this one, particularly as Bournemouth have just one clean sheet in their last eighteen games. Will you give the punt pick your armband?

Park the Bus Pick: Nacho Monreal vs Southampton (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 8/1 Clean Sheet Odds: 29/20 Southampton haven't scored a Premier League goal in their last three games, whereas Arsenal have tightened things up at the back so a clean sheet looks likely in this one. The issue is whether Monreal gets the game time, with Europa League action cluttering their schedule. He's got the most attacking returns of all the Arsenal back line this season. Are you brave enough to captain a defender?

Clueless Husband Pick: Obama Llama/Aubergine Emoji vs Southampton (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 7/10 Admittedly, Aubameyang is a challenge to pronounce. Clueless Husband has renamed him as Obama Llama AND Aubergine Emoji depending on his mood! After a decent score last week, he's qualified as an armband option this week. Will you side with my Clueless Husband? Until Next Week… Good Luck! Holly. Follow Holly for more FPL insight...
