Fantasy Premier League Captain Tips For Gameweek 27.

Are you struggling to decide who you should award the captain's armband to for Gameweek 27? Read on to find out why we're tipping Zlatan Ibrahimovic ahead of his home fixture against Bournemouth. Last week's choice of Romelu Lukaku found the net against Sunderland meaning each of the last two picks have returned handsomely - let's see if we can make it three in a row! This article will look at Ibrahimovic's goalscoring pedigree, recent form and fixture difficulty in order to show why he should be the man you captain for Gameweek 27. NOTE: This article is for those who don't own Sergio Aguero and/or don't feel comfortable captaining Manchester City players due to Pep Guardiola's sporadic rotation tendencies. This isn't to say captaining Man City players is a bad idea, instead, it's looking at the possibility of captaining a single GW player who has now been cast as a differential amidst the DGW flurry.

Ibrahimovic has been Fantasy Premier League gold.

A man that needs no introduction, Ibrahimovic has been one of the top strikers in Fantasy Premier League this season. Despite this being his first season in the Premier League, the enigmatic Swede has already managed an incredible 15 goals and six assists in 24 games for Manchester United and is currently the third highest-scoring striker with 142 points. In fact, before last week Ibrahimovic was the top scoring striker - a title he has only lost after missing Gameweek 26 to play in the EFL Cup against Southampton (more on that later - and is the second most-owned Fantasy Premier League player at 36.1% currently despite missing a game last gameweek. Despite registering an impressive five double-figure hauls already this year, it is Ibrahimovic's consistency that has made his such a solid captain choice in 2016/17 - the Swede has managed attacking returns in 15 out of 24 matches and has blanked only three times in his last 14 matches.

He and Manchester United are in great form.

There are few that would argue against Ibrahimovic being in some of the best form of his life - an impressive feat after such a distinguished career. The Manchester United striker has scored three goals and assisted one more in 2017 while impressing even more in other competitions with a Europa League hat-trick against Saint Etienne, a winner from the bench against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup while last weekend he scored two goals as United won the EFL Cup. The Red Devils themselves are looking good at the moment, having lost just once in 26 games in all competitions and currently enjoying a 16-match unbeaten run in the league. With Ibrahimovic the focal point of the United attack and enjoying the service of Paul Pogba and Henrik Mkhitaryan, it's little surprise to learn he leads the way for attempts on goal - making him Fantasy Premier League gold.

Premier League goal attempts among strikers:

Player Games Shots in box Shots outside box Total shots
Ibrahimovic 24 72 31 103
Aguero 19 59 21 80
Costa 24 57 16 83
Benteke 23 57 5 62
Sanchez 25 56 34 90

He is facing one of the leakiest defences in the league.

Form doesn't always mean everything in Fantasy Premier League - a player who hasn't scored in weeks can explode given the right fixture. Luckily Ibrahimovic does well on that score as well as United play a Bournemouth side who can't keep a clean sheet for love nor money at the moment.

Premier League worst defences (last six games):

Team Goals Conceded Big Chances Conceded Clean Sheets
Bournemouth 17 14 0
Leicester 13 9 0
Swansea 12 12 1
Sunderland 11 12 2
The Cherries lead the way for both goals conceded and big chances conceded over the last six games, having shipped a staggering average of 2.83 goals per game. According to our clean sheet forecast they are the least likely to earn a shut out, which bodes well for Ibrahimovic owners. The majority of the chances are likely to fall to the Swede who bagged a goal and all three bonus against Bournemouth on his Premier League debut in August. The way things are going at the moment, Ibrahimovic will fancy his chances at bettering that at Old Trafford - and those who captain him will be the ones to reap the rewards.
