Gameweek 11 Captain Tips

Share post on:
FPLHolly is back this week with her selection of captain picks for GW11. There's 7 picks to choose from to repair those Gameweek 10 woes; including two defensive choices and a Hollywood legend! Wow, Gameweek 10 was truly awful. Aguero was rested, Salah missed a penalty and a Lukaku assist was a solitary high point. I can't remember there being a Gameweek quite like that one for some time! The less said about my picks from last week the better! Usually a poor week is followed by a good one, so let's move onto the Gameweek 11 selections. Four of last seasons top 6 face off this week with Manchester City v Arsenal and Chelsea v Manchester United. This could deter managers from the usual favourites.

Shield Pick: Romelu Lukaku vs Chelsea (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 8/5 A difficult fixture last week didn't put many FPL managers off, with 20% opting to captain the Belgian. He became the best of a bad bunch, with an assist against Spurs. You can't really argue with his consistency, he's only blanked twice all season and once was down to a penalty miss. He and Jose return to their old club this week and will be looking to exploit a side who've struggled for home form this season. Chelsea have looked fragile defensively with their star man Kante missing through injury and it's uncertain whether he will be back for this clash. Lukaku has assists in his last 2 and 2 goals in 7 appearances against his old club. You could do a lot worse than giving Rom the armband this week.

Sword Pick: Harry Kane vs Crystal Palace (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 2/5 There's question marks about who will start up front for Spurs this week; with Kane still struggling with injury, Son and Llorente are both in contention. If you want to captain one of their players for this seemingly easy match up against bottom of the league Palace, then if Kane is fit then he is your best bet. He's already scored twice at Wembley this season and has a record of 2 goals and 2 assists in his previous 8 appearances against the Eagles. He's on penalties and attacking returns look ominous. Is it the sword pick for you this week?

Form Pick: Leroy Sane vs Arsenal (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 7/5 Leroy Sane has certainly announced himself on the FPL scene over the last couple of weeks. You can't argue with his form: a goal and an assist in his last 3 Premier League games. Interestingly, he's started each of the last 5 games for Manchester City, something that the rest of the City attackers haven't been able to manage. Inevitably, rotation will catch up with him eventually and Pep's rotation makes it difficult to captain one of his players. However, Sane has to be a contender this week with that incredible run of form. He's got 2 goals in 2 appearances against Arsenal. Are you going to give him the armband?

Fixture Pick:Mohammed Salah vs West Ham (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 5/4 The penalty miss last week hurt many managers and he hit the woodwork too, but Salah eventually weighed in with an assist! Liverpool have an enticing game at the London Stadium this week and Salah will be looking to crush the Hammers back line. His minutes are guaranteed given that Mane and Coutinho are struggling with injury. He ranks 2nd for shots on target, with 21 and it's only a matter of time until he adds to his goals tally. It's a pity that he's likely to lose penalty taking duties but his return potential is still there. Will you go for this weeks Fixture pick?

Punt Pick: Riyad Mahrez vs Stoke (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 12/5 Leicester are really improving now that they've changed their personnel and Mahrez is getting back to the form he showed in their title winning season. He played in an advanced position last week, behind the striker and was rewarded for his efforts with an assist. He's in a purple patch, with 1 goal and 3 assists in his last 3 games. Stoke have been poor defensively so far this season. Will you go for the punt pick in this weeks early kick off?

Park the Bus Pick: Jan Vertonghen vs Crystal Palace (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 8/1 Clean Sheet Odds: 10/11 Palace are bottom of the Premier League and have scored just 4 goals so far this season, so it looks promising for a Spurs clean sheet this week. Poch has rotated his full backs around this congested schedule of midweek games, so we have to look to the centre backs for a nailed on start. Vertonghen is the most attacking pick within the back 3 and has a licence to roam with the security of others lying deep. He's already picked up an assist this season, he's an aerial threat from set pieces and is the leading Spurs defender for BPS. Are you brave enough to captain a defender?

Clueless Husband Pick : Virgil Van Dijk vs Burnley (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 13/2 Clean Sheet Odds: 19/20 It turns out I wasn't the only one to have a bad Gameweek 10 but my clueless husband still achieved one more point than me and remains in the top 300k. I put the Brighton v Southampton commentary on the radio in the car last weekend and many names jumped out at him as being funny. Duffy and Dunk were high on the list, but his captaincy pick this week is DICK VAN DYKE! Virgil is back in the Southampton side now and this is the last easy fixture before the schedule toughens. A clean sheet looks promising and Van Dijk is always a threat from set pieces. Will you go with my clueless husband? Until Next Week…
