Gameweek 11 Captain Picks

Share post on:
FPL Holly is back this week with her selection of captain picks for Gameweek 11. After securing 10 out of 10 captain returns, can she make it 11? The Clueless Husband has chosen a tricky fixture for his Gameweek 11 captain pick: read on for more. Gameweek 10 was mixed for our captain picks: Salah, Wilson and Martial all performed, but Hazard and Robertson failed to feature. As always, it's important to consider your Vice Captain option, just in case they are needed. It could be a very split captaincy going into Gameweek 11, with strong arguments for each of the 3 main premium options. Remember that eight teams are involved in EFL Cup action before Gameweek 11, including Bournemouth, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester City: it's 3 games in 7 days for City and 3 games in 6 days for Spurs so beware rotation and keep an eye on those midweek team sheets. Last seasons top six will also be involved in European fixtures after this gameweek, marking a busy time in the fixtures.

Shield Pick: Sergio Aguero vs Southampton (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 1/2 A home captain from the best attack in the Premier League, what more could you ask for? Aguero's form and minutes remain a worry, but his home form remains excellent: 5 goals and 4 assists, for a clean sweep of returns at the Etihad. He has penalties too and is pushing towards his 150th Premier League goal this weekend. He's likely to be a popular captain option, given he has the highest ownership in the game, so should make a safe pick this weekend. Saints have struggled against big clubs this season, conceding 3 goals to Liverpool and Chelsea already. Are you going to be cautious and opt for the shield pick?

Sword Pick: Eden Hazard vs Crystal Palace (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 5/6 If it wasn't for a yellow flag due to that back injury, the Shield vs Sword captain debate could have gone down to the wire this weekend. Hazard is expected to be fit for Sunday and if he starts, could provide another great pop into return. He has blanked just once at home this season, amassing 5 goals and 1 assist. He also has penalties in his locker and the Chelsea attack play a closer second best to the City attack. Palace have struggled to keep things tight at the back in recent weeks, conceding 2 goals in 3 of their last 4 games. Will you attack with the Gameweek 11 sword pick?

Form Pick: Mohammed Salah vs Arsenal (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 10/11 Salah is back to his best since the fixtures have improved, with 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 3 games in all competitions. The only thing lacking from his game to this point was confidence, and now he looks happy and relieved to be finding the back of the net once more. His away form is a little sketchy, but he should be able to exploit an Arsenal defence with some key injuries, who've failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 3 games. Salah is the 2nd choice penalty taker for Liverpool, so has the potential to convert from the spot if Milner isn't on the pitch. In 3 games against Arsenal, Salah has 3 goals and 1 assist. Are you going with last seasons star player?

Fulham Pick: Philip Biling vs Fulham (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 15/4 The best fixture for this weekend is Huddersfield, who entertain a woeful Fulham team who've now conceded 28 goals in 10 games. Billing carries some threat for this Huddersfield side, having a goal to his name this season. He has had 14 shots on goal and 4 attempted assists, plus he is involved in set pieces. Huddersfield have yet to score a goal in front of their home fans this season, but surely that drought has to end this weekend?

Punt Pick: Gylfi Sigurdsson vs Brighton (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 17/10 Brighton may have been in fine defensive form in recent weeks, but there's been an element of luck to their clean sheets of late and historically, they struggle on the road. Gylfi will be looking to exploit the Seagulls back line, having scored 4 goals in 4 games. He has penalties and some set piece responsibility to further bolster his appeal. Will you take a punt on the Icelander?

Park the Bus Pick: Benjamin Mendy vs Southampton (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 7/1 Clean Sheet Odds: 8/11 The Manchester City defence are on a remarkable run, keeping clean sheets in 6 consecutive Premier League games. Another clean sheet looks secure this weekend, as they come up against a Saints attack that have failed to score in their last 5 games. Mendy has been selected for his attacking threat, having amassed 6 assists this season, of which 4 have arrived at home. Could this be the safest time ever to captain a defender?

Clueless Husband Pick: Ryan Fraser vs Manchester United (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 7/2 Fresh off the back of an 11 point haul last weekend, my Clueless Husband is trusting Fraser with the armband this weekend. My husband was less than impressed to be listening to football commentary on the radio as we returned from London last weekend, but the commentators praise for the Scotsman clearly made a mark. Fraser now has 3 goals and 5 assists, providing excellent dead balls in a Bournemouth side that have scored 19 goals already. United have been struggling on the road this season and have shown that they can easily be undone on set pieces: will you side with my Clueless Husband? Until Next Week… Good Luck!
