Game Week 37 Captain Picks

Share post on:
FPL Holly is back this week with her selection of captain picks for Gameweek 37. It's a crucial decision for the penultimate week of the season and could help to clinch those mini-league positions. Gameweek 36 was great for captaincy, with those managers who hung onto their Triple Captain chip rewarded for their patience. There's a plethora of options this week: it's worth considering that Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal are all in European semi finals either side of this Gameweek 37, which could influence FPL managers to place the captaincy elsewhere. As always, look out for any injuries or suspensions, plus the outcome of these crunch first leg ties. Remember, it's another Friday deadline this week.

Shield Pick: Sergio Aguero vs Leicester (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 8/13 With Aguero's high ownership and home fixture, it's likely he will be the most captained this week. If history can repeat itself from last season, Aguero could be due a big haul here. He has 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 4 Premier League games and got an assist in the reverse fixture. He also has penalties in his locker as he vies for the Golden Boot. Can he improve on his 20 goals and 7 assists for the season? If you are holding firm at the top of your mini league, trust Sergio with the shield pick armband.

Sword Pick: Mo Salah vs Newcastle (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: Evens Sandwiched in between Barcelona in the Champions League, it's a busy time for Liverpool. Salah leads the Golden Boot race and is bang in form with 4 goals and 2 assists from his last 4 games. Newcastle have been keeping things tight at home, they've lost just once at home this year, and have conceded 3 goals in their last 4 games, keeping one clean sheet. Will you attack with the sword pick?

Form Pick: Jamie Vardy vs Manchester City (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 9/5 Vardy is in fantastic form: since Rogers took charge he has 10 goals from 9 games, including 5 in his last 4 appearances. Many will be put off by the fixture, but Vardy loves finding space in behind that is left by top six attacking sides, he got an assist in the reverse fixture that Leicester won 2-1. He has an outside chance of taking the Golden Boot and is on penalties too. Will you go with form over fixture?

Fixture Pick: Raheem Sterling vs Leicester (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 3/4 It's Sterling who's the fixture pick: this Leicester game is a must win for the Champions in order to retain their crown, with Sterling at the heart of any attacking threat. He has 2 goals and 1 assist from his last 4 games. Leicester have 1 clean sheet in their last 4 games, conceding 4 goals in that spell. Are you going with the fixture pick?

Reverse Pick: Paul Pogba vs Huddersfield (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 11/10 A game against Huddersfield can always bring promise, and with Lukaku and Rashford injured, it's Pogba who could make the dream team again for this set of fixtures. He has 2 goals in his last 4 games and a brace when these teams last met on Boxing Day. Manchester United have been struggling a little of late, but Huddersfield have a woeful record, conceding 15 goals in their last 4 games. Will you opt for the reverse pick?

Punt Pick: Raul Jimenez vs Fulham (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 19/20 Wolves have a great fixture this weekend: a home game against one of the leagues worst defences. Jimenez will want to finish the season on a high, after scoring just once in his last 4 games. Fulham have managed to rectify some of their defensive issues, keeping 3 clean sheets in their last 4 games, but this Wolves attacking will be difficult to keep out: it's 6 goals in their last 4. Will you take a punt on the Wolves front man?

Park the Bus Pick: Andrew Robertson vs Newcastle (A)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 11/1 Clean Sheet Odds: 4/5 Now at 20 clean sheets for the season, Robertson will want to improve on his impressive tally of 11 assists. Now the leading FPL defender ever, the sky is the limit! Liverpool have 3 clean sheets in their last 4 games, whereas Newcastle could be without their main striker Perez due to injury. Are you brave enough captain a defender?

Clueless Husband Pick: Eden Hazard vs Watford (H)

Anytime Goalscorer Odds: 4/5 With his dead team locked in on Hazard, a result here could pay dividends, in a home game against a Watford side with one eye on the FA Cup final. Hazard has 2 goals and 1 assist from his last 4 games and got an impressive brace in the reverse fixture. He's also got spot kick duty too. Will you side with my Clueless Husband?
