FPL Heisenberg's Captain Series
Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season from @FPL_Heisenberg for FPL Bet. In this weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best captaincy options, as well as ‘outside of the box' captaincy choices for each Gameweek. Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 32k in each of the last 6 seasons, including a best finish of 836th. Let's cook!
Gameweek 30 Captains:
Harry Kane (Fixture: Newcastle, Away)
Harry Kane has been a goal threat for many years in the Premier League, but his assist threat is something he's added to his game. His season was defined recently vs Crystal Palace where he got 2 goals and 2 assists.
His passing ability has always been exceptional, but tactically he was more the man to get on the end of passes, now he's creating chances for two other good attackers, Gareth Bale and Heung-Min Son. The stats show how much better he's become creatively and he now has the most FPL assists of any player which is outstanding.
Spurs should benefit as a team offensively with Son returning from injury, therefore I see Kane's assist potential as increasing with Sonny on the pitch to finish. Son has also been creating for Harry Kane in the weeks before his injury so I see his goal threat increasing too.
As we know, Kane is on penalties too and rarely misses, so there's another route to points for England's number 9.
Bruno Fernandes (Fixture: Brighton, Home)
Bruno Fernandes is central to everything Man United do, and, importantly he takes penalties which as we all know, United win a lot of them! In fact, many people sold him in Gameweek 27 where he faced Man City at the Etihad, where he popped up with a penalty.
Brighton at home isn't as good as a fixture as Newcastle away (for Kane) or Sheffield United at home (Bamford/Raphinha) but Bruno can deliver goals and/or assists in any fixture so there's every chance Mr Reliable can do the business.
Bruno is the top point scorer in FPL this season and is a very reliable option, week in week out. In the underlying statistics it's not surprising as he's near the top for shots and for chances created, he's a genuine double threat.
Patrick Bamford (Fixture: Sheffield United, Home)
A tasty fixture and a nice rest during the international break makes Patrick Bamford an ideal captain choice this Gameweek.
The Englishman has had a great season so far and I was surprised to see he's owned by more FPL managers than Harry Kane. With 14 goals and 9 assists, playing in a team who see plenty of action in both penalty areas! In terms of the underlying statistics he's top of all players for non-penalty expected goals in the league this season.
Leeds are facing a Chris Wilder-less Sheffield United who have had defensive issues this season so I cannot see them being able to stop Bamford and co scoring at least a couple of goals. Hopefully Bamford can be involved in the goals that do inevitably flow.
Raphinha (Fixture: Sheffield United, Home)
The Brazilian midfielder is currently selected by around 16.5% of FPL players at the time of writing, but he could be a popular captain choice this week, given the fact that his underlying stats are so strong and he has a plumb fixture.
The silky midfielder has been a revelation so far this season and since he made his debut, creating numerous chances � the most of any player in the last 6 Gameweeks. Playing in a team who see plenty of action in both penalty areas so he has a good chance of getting an attacking return.
Leeds are facing a Sheffield United side side who have been poor this season and Leeds will fancy their chances of scoring a few against them. Raphinha gets the extra point for a goal over the popular choice Harry Kane and the potential for a clean sheet point too, so don't be surprised to see him outscore England's number 9 like he did in Gameweek 29.
‘Outside of the Box' captain:
Richarlison (Fixture: Crystal Palace, Home)
One of my differential captain picks in Gameweek 28 is the £8.0m Everton forward Richarlison. Currently sitting at under 10% ownership at the time of writing � he will be a huge captain differential, with your mini-league rivals likely to captain one of the premium assets like Kane or Bruno Fernandes etc.
If he can pick up where he left off in the last few games, then Richarlison could be in for another productive game at home to Roy Hodgson's men. A home fixture for Ancelotti's Everton against a shaky Crystal Palace side is a perfect fixture for the Brazilian to score well in.
It is important to note that the upturn in Richarlison's goalscoring form has coincided with Ancelotti moving him from a wide attacking midfielder, to a striker up front with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, meaning less defensive duties and he's in better positions to score goals.
