FPL Heisenberg's Captain Series

Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season from @FPL_Heisenberg for FPL Bet. In this weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best captaincy options, as well as ‘outside of the box' captaincy choices for each Gameweek. Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 32k in each of the last 6 seasons, including a best finish of 836th. Let's cook!

Double Gameweek 25 Captains:

Patrick Bamford (Fixture: Wolves, Away and Southampton, Home)

The Leeds centre-forward is currently selected by around 57% of FPL players at the time of writing, and he will be a popular captain choice this week, given the fact that only Leeds and Southampton play twice.

The Englishman has had a great season so far, with 12 goals and 8 assists, playing in a team who see plenty of action in both penalty areas! In terms of the underlying statistics he's top of all players for non-penalty expected goals in the league this season.

Leeds are facing a Wolves side who are rebuilding this season after losing key players and Southampton who are on a poor run of form. Hopefully Bamford can be involved in the goals that do inevitably flow in the 2 fixtures.

Danny Ings (Fixture: Chelsea, Home and Leeds, Away)

The Southampton talisman is currently selected by around 15% of FPL players at the time of writing, and he will be a huge captain differential, with your mini-league rivals likely to captain one of the Leeds assets like Bamford or Raphinha.

The Saints number 9 will be full of confidence following a return to goalscoring form vs Wolves in the cup and he followed that up with a superb volley in the league, also against Wolves. It's a tough double for Southampton, facing a solid Chelsea side and a decent Leeds side. However, we all know Leeds like to attack and are vulnerable at the back so if he can nick a goal vs Chelsea, and a brace vs Leeds he could easily score 20+ points this Gameweek!

It's also worth remembering that Ings is Southampton's penalty taker, giving him that extra route to potential points which is always nice for your FPL captain.

Raphinha (Fixture: Wolves, Away and Southampton, Home)

The Brazilian midfielder is currently selected by around 7.5% of FPL players at the time of writing, but like Patrick Bamford he will be a popular captain choice this week, given the fact that only Leeds and Southampton play twice.

The silky midfielder has been a revelation so far this season and since he made his debut only De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes have produced more assists. Playing in a team who see plenty of action in both penalty areas so the chances of him getting an attacking return are very good.

As mentioned earlier in the article, Leeds are facing a Wolves side who are rebuilding this season after losing key players and Southampton who are on a poor run of form. Raphinha gets the extra point for a goal over Bamford and Ings and the potential for a clean sheet point too, so don't be surprised to see him outscore Bamford and Ings.

Bruno Fernandes (Fixture: Newcastle, Home)

Despite not having two fixtures in Gameweek 25, I couldn't leave out Bruno who is a very good option this week, in form player playing against Newcastle!

Bruno Fernandes is central to everything Man United do, and, importantly he takes penalties which as we all know, United win a lot of them! Furthermore, his away record is phenomenal too, and he's performing well in the attacking metrics away from home too, proving it's no fluke.

Ideally in a double Gameweek you'd go for a player with two fixtures, but there is a decent chance that he can outscore the popular choices of Bamford, Ings and Raphinha this week.

Outside of the Box' captain:

Stuart Dallas (Fixture: Wolves, Away and Southampton, Home)

This is the first time I've added a Leeds defender to my Captaincy article, but I strongly believe in Stuart Dallas, especially as he has 7 attacking returns so far this season.

Dallas has explosive potential, because there's every chance of an attacking return to go with a clean sheet, and therefore he gets 3 bonus points like he did in Gameweeks 16 and 23.

As confirmed earlier, Dallas has favourable fixtures in the double, facing Wolves who are rebuilding this season after losing key players and Southampton who are on a poor run of form. Hopefully Dallas can notch 1 attacking return and 1 clean sheet over the double gameweek, which will see him hit double-digits once more.
