FPL Heisenberg's Captain Series
Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season from @FPL_Heisenberg for FPL Bet. In this weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best captaincy options, as well as ‘outside of the box' captaincy choices for each Gameweek. Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 32k in each of the last 6 seasons, including a best finish of 836th. Let's cook!
Gameweek 13 Captains:
Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford (Leeds, Home)
Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation since joining Man United and is a fantastic option for captaincy yet again against a Leeds team who create a lot of chances, but concede a lot too.
On that note, as Leeds continually let big chances up from set pieces, this could be a good route to points for Bruno, getting assists from corners and free kicks from crossing positions.
He's central to everything Man United do, and, importantly he takes penalties which as we all know, United win a lot of them! Bruno seems to do better away from home but I still feel there's a strong chance of a return or two against Leeds.
Depending on your team structure and bank balance, you may not have the cash for Bruno and therefore you can't squeeze him in, but, you may have his teammate, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Marcus Rashford….
Rashford bagged a brace in GW13 and looked sharp all game against Sheffield United, with his confidence and form up he could continue to excel this week.
Mo Salah (Fixture: Crystal Palace, Away)
Salah is a top-pick for captaincy in Gameweek 14, especially since he's facing a Crystal Palace side that haven't had a clean sheet since Gameweek 1! He's coming into this game off the back of a good run of form on blanking twice this season.
The Egyptian King has started the season well, with 11 goals and 3 assists in 12 league games. He's been consistently performing well in all the key metrics such as creating chances, shots on target, shots in the box, expected assists and expected goals and I have no doubt this will continue against Fulham. Furthermore, as Mo is on penalties, that is another route to points for him too.
Relaible player, on penalties and facing a side who always concedes? Yes please.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Fixture: Arsenal, Home)
What a season Dominic Calvert-Lewin is having. The top goal scorer in the Premier League with 11 goals and 3 assists in 13 Premier League games
The England number 9 has only blanked twice this season - this is no fluke. In terms of the underlying statistics he's top for non-penalty expected goals for all players in the league this season. He's getting himself into the positions where he's most likely to score goals, in the central areas of the penalty area, with most of his goals being one touch finishes � something he and Ancelotti have been working hard on.
Everton are at home to Arsenal who've been on a shocking run of form of late, and without the aerial presence of the suspended Gabriel, I can see Calvert-Lewin bagging a header against the Arsenal.
Calvert-Lewin tends to do better with Richarlison in the side as Everton's attacking output increases with him in the team, and, should this continue then Calvert-Lewin could have a field day at Goodison Park vs Arsenal.
‘Outside of the Box' captains:
Danny Ings (Fixture: Man City, Home)
The Southampton talisman is currently selected by under 8.5% of FPL players at the time of writing, and he will be a huge captain differential, with your mini-league rivals likely to captain one of the premium assets like Salah, Bruno, De Bruyne etc.
The Saints number 9 will be full of confidence following a strong season last year and a solid start this season. It's a tough fixture as Man City have been solid defensively, but I fully expect Southampton to score against them this week.
It's also worth remembering that Ings is Southampton's penalty taker, giving him that extra route to potential points which is always nice for your FPL captain.
