FPL Heisenberg's Captain Series
Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season from @FPL_Heisenberg for FPL Bet. In this weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best captaincy options, as well as ‘outside of the box' captaincy choices for each Gameweek. Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 32k in each of the last 6 seasons, including a best finish of 836th. Let's cook!
Double Gameweek 32 Captains:
Harry Kane (Fixture: Everton, Away and Southampton, Home)
Harry Kane has been a goal threat for many years in the Premier League, but his assist threat is something he's added to his game.
His passing ability has always been exceptional, but tactically he was more the man to get on the end of passes, now he's creating chances for his teammates too. The stats show how much better he's become creatively and he now has the most FPL assists of any player which is outstanding.
Spurs should benefit as a team offensively with Son returning from injury, back with a goal vs United in his first start back after injury. Therefore I see Kane's assist potential as increasing with Sonny on the pitch to finish off the chances he creates. Son has also been creating for Harry Kane in the weeks before his injury so I see his goal threat increasing too.
As we know, Kane is on penalties too and rarely misses, so there's another route to points for England's number 9.
Spurs are the only team with a double Gameweek in GW32, so I strongly advise you pick one of the Spurs big hitters for your captain or even your triple captain like I am.
If you're playing catch up in your mini-leagues then maybe you fancy putting the armband on his teammate, the South Korean international Son who's also a good choice this Gameweek.
Heung-Min Son (Fixture: Everton, Away and Southampton, Home)
Heung-Min Son is another fantastic captaincy option, and as mentioned above, especially if you're playing catch up to a mini league rival or hoping to make gains in the overall rank. You'd be betting on Son outscoring Kane - which is possible but I don't think it'll happen personally.
I won't dwell on Son too much here, he has returned to the team with a goal vs Man United and as he's a lethal finisher, he only needs one chance to finish. He also gets an extra point for the goal and a clean sheet point as he's a midfielder which might help him beat Kane this week.
No other Spurs asset is worth captaining in my opinion. Moura and Regulion are good picks for your team this week, but certainly not captaincy contenders.
‘Outside of the Box' captains:
This section will have some heavy hitters in it, however, they are outside of the box as Kane and Son will be the overwhelming favourites this Gameweek, given that Spurs are the only team with a double Gameweek.
Bruno Fernandes (Fixture: Burnley, Home)
Bruno is the top point scorer in FPL this season and is a very reliable option, week in week out. In the underlying statistics it's not surprising as he's near the top for shots and for chances created, he's a genuine double threat.
Burnley at home is a nice fixture for Man United and Bruno can deliver goals and/or assists in any fixture so there's every chance Mr Reliable can do the business. In fact, many people sold him in Gameweek 27 where he faced Man City at the Etihad, where he popped up with a goal from the penalty spot.
Furthermore, Bruno Fernandes is central to everything Man United do, and, importantly he takes penalties which as we all know, United win a lot of them!
Man United played in the Europa League so maybe they won't be that fresh so I still recommend one of the Spurs boys for captaincy.
Mo Salah (Fixture: Leeds, Away)
Liverpool have struggled this season, but this hasn't stopped Salah from being in the mix for the golden boot race with 19 goals, joint top with ace marksman Harry Kane. Furthermore, his season-long form is still strong, with goals in Europe too.
He's been consistently performing well in all the key attacking metrics and I have no doubt this will continue this Gameweek against a Leeds side who often end up in Basketball style matches. Furthermore, as Mo is on penalties, that is another route to points for the Egyptian King too.
With Marcelo Bielsa's men facing Klopp's boys in Gameweek 32, could we see Mo return with a bang and get his first double digit return since Gameweek 21 vs West Ham? Those who captain him will certainly hope so.
If you fancy going really rogue away from the premium assets then look no further than the inform Jesse Lingard or Kelechi Iheanacho who face Newcastle (away) and West Brom (home) respectively.
