Captain Tips Gameweek 38 - Fantasy Premier League Tips

Share post on:
In short, Gameweek 37 didn't exactly pan out the way we would have liked to... With an Arsenal double gameweek, and Agüero in a good patch of form the fantasy football world were preparing themselves for some big returns from the Manchester City forward and the likes of Oliver Giroud and Alexis Sánchez, who had 34.4% of us electing him as captain. Fast-forward to Wednesday evening and every Arsenal player had failed to score a goal and Agüero could just provide a single assist, despite his sides 4-2 win over Swansea City. Low Risk: Agüero (10), Sánchez (10) Medium Risk: Giroud (8), Benteke (14) High Risk: Wickham (4), Gerrard (4) With the final day of the season almost upon us we hope these tips will aid you in you on in the last gameweek of the 2014/15 campaign. LOW RISK

[mks_separator style="dashed" height="2"] [mks_col] [mks_one_half] Sergio Agüero vs SOU (H) Perhaps one of the only success stories to come out of the Etihad this season is the tale of Sergio Agüero's confirmation as the most prolific striker in the Premier league. Agüero tallied up eight goals in five appearances prior to the game against Swansea City last weekend, and despite an assist in that fixture many managers will have been disappointed he didn't return more following his four goal haul at the Liberty Stadium. Those goals from Agüero, aided by Arsenal's poor set of results in recent weeks, have all but mathematically ensured City will end the season in second place, and could help Pellegrini in his bid to keep his job as Head Coach. [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] Christian Benteke vs BUR (H) Choosing Christian Benteke, or any Aston Villa player as your captain during Paul Lambert's tenure would have been suicidal, but since Sherwood's appointment Benteke has rekindled his love for goal scoring and proved a big hit with many managers. Villa may have been drubbed 6-1 by Southampton last weekend but with other results going their way Sherwood's mission to keep Villa in the Premier League was complete. Christian Benteke grabbed the only goal for Villa that gameweek, taking his tally to 11 in ten in all competitions, and with the Villains facing a Burnley side that have been resolute in defence in recent weeks, Sherwood will turn to Benteke to make the difference come Sunday. MEDIUM RISK

[mks_separator style="dashed" height="2"] [mks_col] [mks_one_half] David Silva vs SOU (H) If Aguero proves too costly to transfer in for the final gameweek, or you just don't believe the little Argentine will bring you returns, then perhaps his team-mate David Silva is worthy of wearing the armband. Silva won't claim another Premier League winner's medal, but the Spaniard has scored 12 goals this campaign, more than he has done in any other season since joining the blue side of Manchester. Southampton will visit the Etihad this weekend full of confidence they can end the season in a Europa League position following  a 6-1 win over Aston Villa, and coupled with Manchester City's recent goal-scoring form this fixture looks certain to provide plenty of goals. [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] Bafétimbi Gomis vs CRY (A) Since the departure of Wilfried Bony, Swansea have turned to Bafétimbi Gomis as their talisman and the Frenchman has returned the favour with five goals and five assists in recent weeks. Their loss to Manchester City meant they would miss out on a chance to play in the Europa League next season, but this has certainly been a season to remember for Garry Monk's men. With an inexpensive price tag we're sure Gomis may be included in many managers teams for the last game of the season, and if you're willing to take a gamble to catch those mini-league rivals then electing him as captain ahead of Agüero and Benteke could make the difference. [/mks_one_half] [/mks_col] [mks_separator style="dashed" height="2"]

HIGH RISK

[mks_separator style="dashed" height="2"] [mks_col] [mks_one_half] Juan Mata vs HUL (H) Manchester United may have recorded just one win in five games, but a string of good results against top four rivals including Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City earlier in the year all but ensured a successful return to the Champions League. Much of that success was aided through the positive performances from Juan Mata who has outshone Angel Di Maria since the turn of the year at Old Trafford. With one assist in three appearances Mata may not be the likely candidate for the captaincy role, but with Hull City looking worryingly down at the Championship, and having never recorded a win in the month of May in the Premier League United, Mata may just condemn them to relegation. [/mks_one_half] [mks_one_half] Diego Costa vs SUN (H) Chelsea will lift the Premier League trophy this weekend for the first time since 2010 when they entertain a Sunderland side who confirmed their Premier League status on Wednesday with a draw at the Emirates. Jose Mourinho's home record as Chelsea manager speaks for itself, recording just one loss during his time at Stamford Bridge, and after a shock defeat to West Brom last gameweek he will want to get back to winning ways. With Cesc Fabregas suspended and Eden Hazard likely to miss the final game of the season with a trip to the dentist, Jose Mourinho will look to Diego Costa to add to his tally of 19 goals this season and ensure the home support witness a final day victory.
