Captain Tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 24
It's form vs fixture in this week's captain tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 24. We compare Ibrahimovic, Lukaku and Benteke to reveal who is the best captaincy option.
The second round of Premier League fixtures this week throws up some dilemmas for Fantasy Premier League managers.
Looming large on the fixture list is Chelsea vs Arsenal, a typically fiery encounter, where FPL bosses may be tempted to unleash Diego Costa with Chelsea enjoying a 12-1 aggregate over the Gunners in their last four matches at Stamford Bridge.
Alternatively, Tottenham's excellent home form looks attractive as they welcome struggling Middlesbrough to White Hart Lane. That said, Boro are hard to break down and will look to stifle the Spurs attack.
Playing the percentages, it might be wise to look elsewhere for captaincy options, focusing on teams that are bang out of form.
Best bet: Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs LEI (A)
So far the talismanic figure of Manchester United's season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic loves an away goal.
His run of five in his last five away Premier League games looks enticing against a Leicester side that is slipping further into the relegation quagmire.
The champions have conceded nine goals in their last five home league games a statistic almost unthinkable last season.
With United's armoury of weapons the Foxes are in danger of shipping more goals. FPL bosses should look no further than Ibra, who has 14 goals and three assists this season.
United's giant Swede also notched the winner against Leicester in the Community Shield in August and can be backed at a meaty 23/20 to score any time.
One to watch: Romelu Lukaku vs BOU (H)
Everton's Belgian hitman has had a fantastic season thus far, scoring consistently and reinforcing his 12 league goals with four assists.
Lukaku has two goals in three career Premier League games against Bournemouth, and is bagging the goals at Goodison Park having struck two in his last two league games.
The Toffees enjoy home surroundings and have taken ten points, scoring ten goals, in their last five home matches, despite a tough streak of fixtures including Liverpool, Arsenal and both Manchester clubs.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have one of the worst away records and defences in the division. The Cherries have lost four of their last five away league games, conceding 12 goals.
Everton's array of forward men could prove too much for the fragile Bournemouth rearguard and Lukaku can be snapped up at 21/20 to score any time.
Differential: Christian Benteke vs SUN (H)
Strikers have a funny habit of scoring against one team in particular. Wayne Rooney's good luck charm was Newcastle, but Christian Benteke's is Sunderland.
Palace's front man has seven career goals in eight games against the Black Cats, including a dramatic late winner in the reverse fixture in September.
Handing Benteke the armband is not a straightforward decision though. The Belgian has just two goals in his last five home league games, but did find the net in his most recent game at Bournemouth.
Any fears about Benteke's home performances can be eased by Sunderland's atrocious away form. David Moyes' men have conceded a shocking 14 goals in their previous five away league clashes.
So, with Palace playing Benteke's favourite opposition and facing a wobbly defence there could be plenty of goals in the offing, making Benteke's anytime goalscorer odds of 23/20 seem ripe for the picking.
