Captain Tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 23.

It's form vs fixture in this week's captain tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 23. We compare Sanchez, Kane and Willian to reveal who is the best captaincy option.

With another FA Cup weekend almost over, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a handy rest for fantasy football managers up and down the land. However, the hardy souls will instead have been analysing the team sheets and scoresheets as they look to uncover the best captaincy options for gameweek 23. As with last week, there are some good match ups between the top sides and those languishing near the bottom and it could be a points fest with a shrewd captain pick.

Best Bet: Alexis Sanchez vs WAT (H)

Breaking a home duck that stretched back to November, Alexis Sanchez's 97th minute penalty winner against Burnley saved many FPL managers after the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard failed to score or assist. There is further good news for Fantasy Premier League bosses as the Chilean was rested for the majority of Arsenal's 5-0 drubbing of Southampton yesterday. Better still, Sanchez provided two assists in his 25-minute cameo from the bench at St Mary's to suggest that he is again producing some good form. Just four of his 15 league goals have come at the Emirates this season but, facing a leaky Watford defence this week, Sanchez is well-placed to add to that tally. The Hornets' last visit to Arsenal ended in a 4-0 thrashing, with Sanchez scoring and assisting. He is 4/5 on to score at least one goal this time around.

One To Watch: Harry Kane vs SUN (A)

Harry Kane may not have scored last week but his assist against Manchester City certainly dug FPL managers out of a hole as the usual captaincy suspects failed to score. Kane has a far more favourable fixture for GW23 as his Spurs side travel to Sunderland on Tuesday evening. The Black Cats have one of the leakiest defences in the league having conceded nine goals in their last five matches and Kane, with six goals in his last five games, is another hot points-scoring prospect. The England striker's relationship with Dele Alli is growing ever stronger and, with Alli in excellent form himself, including a goal against Wycombe in the FA Cup this weekend, it would be a brave manager that turns down the opportunity to hand Kane the captain's armband. At 4/5 to score anytime, Kane also represents good value with the bookies.

Differential: Willian vs LIV (A)

Currently enjoying one of his best Premier League seasons so far, Willian is our differential pick for GW23. The Brazilian has been used in a bit part role by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte but has still registered five goals and two assists this term. His last two starts have produced two goals and an assist and he netted Chelsea's opener against Brentford in The Blues 4-0 FA Cup win this weekend. Chelsea travel to a stuttering Liverpool on Tuesday night as Conte's men look to increase the points gap to their Anfield rivals to a whopping 13 points. Willian and company could be in business as Liverpool have conceded six goals in their last three Premier League games and are in dire form, having lost three games in a week including crashing out of both domestic cup competitions. If FPL managers can live with the gamble of picking Willian as their captain, despite not being guaranteed to start, they will also find attractive odds of 23/5 for the all-action midfielder to score anytime.
