Captain Tips For Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13

Share post on:
It's form vs fixture in this week's captain tips for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13. This week we compare devastating Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, Brazilian genius Philippe Coutinho, Manchester City hitman Sergio Aguero, the explosive Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and Everton's Belgian bulldozer, Romelu Lukaku. Gameweek 12 saw a disappointing showing for many of the popular fantasy options, with Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Philippe Coutinho all blanking. While I expected as much from Coutinho in a tricky Southampton fixture, it was particularly surprising to see my top two of Aguero and Lukaku fail to find the net, with the Argentine particularly lacklustre in front of goal. I did claw a bit of dignity by tipping Diego Costa ahead of Eden Hazard, with the Spaniard scoring and taking all three bonus points for a solid nine-point haul. The Belgian still did reasonably well, with a clean sheet and bonus point giving him four points in a low-scoring week. This week I kept faith with those six, although I will be keeping my eye on the currently lesser-owned Kevin De Bruyne and Harry Kane, along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic who may well fancy his chances against a leaky West Ham side.

Which player is in the best form?

 # Player  Home Away Fixture
 1  Coutinho  9.50 4.75  9.50
 2  Hazard  9.25 4.75  9.25
 3  Aguero 2.00  8.25  8.25
 4  Costa  6.50  7.25  6.50
 5  Sanchez  6.00  6.75  6.00
 6  Lukaku 8.50 4.25  4.25
Perhaps surprisingly considering Hazard's form, Coutinho tops the form table this week. The Brazilian has hit double figures in three of his last four games and just pips the Chelsea man, although it is worth noting the Belgian's score does include one match before Antonio Conte changed to 3-4-3 and unleashed him. Aguero comes in with a solid score of 8.25 despite blanking at Crystal Palace last week and will be hoping to get back to scoring ways after blanking midweek as well. Costa holds up well both home and away and has delivered returns in nine out of 11 games this season. He is arguably the most reliable scorer, although Hazard's propensity for stealing bonus points means he may be overlooked on this occasion. Sanchez is just behind the Spaniard having averaged six points per game and will be hoping for his fifth 10+ score, while Lukaku sits at the bottom of our form table having scored only once in his last four away games.

Which player has the easiest fixture in Gameweek 13?

# Player  Vs GC BCC
1 Coutinho SUN (H) 5  7
2 Sanchez BOU (H) 4  9
3 Aguero BUR (A) 4  5
4 Hazard  TOT (H) 2  4
= Costa TOT (H) 2  4
= Lukaku SOU (A) 2  4
Coutinho also has the easiest fixture on paper. Sunderland have conceded five goals in their last four games as well as seven big chances, although they have begun to tighten up in recent weeks. Sanchez and Aguero both face up to sides that have conceded an average of one goal over the last four games. The Chilean is at home to a Bournemouth side that have given away far too many chances (9) while Aguero faces stubborn Burnley, who have given up only five chances in the last four matches at Turf Moor. Hazard, Costa and Lukaku all come up against statistically equal defences. The Chelsea pair may hold the edge however considering Spurs look likely to be without the suspended Danny Rose and sidelined pair Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld. Everton meanwhile have to visit a Southampton side that kept free-scoring Liverpool out last week and boast arguably the best defender so far this season in Virgil Van Dijk.

Who is the best captaincy option for Gameweek 13?

captain tips gameweek 13 fpl As expected looking at the two charts, Coutinho is the runaway leader this week. He is the most in-form player and has the best fixture, but a word of warning: Liverpool are without Adam Lallana and have scored only two goals in three games without him, while David Moyes' side are pulling themselves together at the back, having conceded only one goal in two matches. For those who don't own or don't want to risk the Brazilian, Hazard looks to be a solid option once more. He has delivered in every home game since they changed formation and - with Jan Vertonghen likely to be moved to left-back - could be up against a makeshift defence or Eric Dier and Kevin Wimmer. There was a time when Aguero at Burnley would be a guaranteed armband but, such is the Argentine's patchy form and the Clarets' resilience at home, he is only third in our table this week. He just beats out Sanchez, who has only delivered a goal and two assists this season but faces a potentially leaky Bournemouth. Costa finishes in fifth but is a reliable player - particularly for those who don't own Hazard or fancy other options - due to the reasons above. Lukaku meanwhile looks set for another blank against struggling Everton and is therefore one to avoid. RECOMMENDED: Coutinho, Firmino or Mane: Who performs best at home? Article by Steven Riley.
